He will screw you if he can!!! AVOID!!! My experience with Captain Joe's was all around HORRIBLE!!! I can't think of anything this guy could have done worse. Let me summarize what happened to me: (1) First, he let me reserve a boat that wasn't available. When I arrived, I found out that it had been out under repair for two weeks. (2) He refused to provide a replacement boat for the same price. Instead, he tried to upsell me for a boat that was almost twice the price. (3) He refused to refund my money even though I never got a boat. I had to get my money back through the credit card dispute process, which took over three weeks. He resisted that too. (4) He will leave you stranded if you have problems. He told me that if I broke down, I would have to call Sea Tow, which runs a couple hundred bucks an hour. He won't come pick you up even though he has other boats sitting there. (5) From what I saw, his boats aren't very nice. He also told me not to shut the boat off if I stopped. What does that say about his boats? (6) His website lists several boats as ""ocean access"" but that's a lie. Once I got there he said none of his boats could go on the ocean. He said they were only rigged for 10 feet of water. (7) If you're late getting there, he starts charging you anyway, and if you bring the boat back even 1 minute late, he fines you $400 (It's in his contract that he sends you after you book). (8) His location isn't the best. It's a 45 minute idle speed ride to get anywhere, and when you figure you have to come back, you realize you end up wasting a lot of time (with him threatening to charge you for being late). (9) This guy was an incredible jerk to me. You just can't reason with him. He was very belligerent and combative. He seemed to take pleasure in leaving me without a boat. My advice is to avoid this clown like the plague. there are several other boat rental places in Miami who will treat you much better and have better maintained boats. We found one at bayside that was much better, a night and day difference.
