Amazing Experience 5/30/2012

I absolutely loved the dive locations...beautiful. I feel like I learned a lot and it was definitely worth it. It's an amazing experience. more

great place to learn 5/25/2012

I signed up for a basic scuba class here and was very impressed. Saam really knew what he was doing and was a very good teacher. He worked with me on some issues that I had to make sure that i learned correctly and felt safe under water. I really recommend this place if you are thinking about learning to dive. I'm glad that I went here and can't wait to go diving again in the future. more

Great Instructor 5/21/2012

This instructor is very informative and tells you and teaches you all of the what if something goes wrong and shows you how to be prepared for the worse. Highly recommend this place to everyone. more

Cares about safety 5/8/2012

If you want an instructor who actually cares whether his students are prepared when something goes wrong deep, deep underwater in some remote corner of the world (because it will!), go to Capt. Saam. If you want someone to wipe your nose and valet park your car, go elsewhere... I'm just glad I'm not your buddy! more

Awesome Teacher!! 5/4/2012

Caaptain Saam knows what he's talking about, sure, he might get a little angry sometimes, and yell, but that's because he finds safety really important. He knows how to make the trip safe, and he knows where to go diving. You can't find an instructor anywhere who can teach you more. more

Fun 4/24/2012

Learning to dive was fun. I felt safe with Capt Saam's staff. I liked the wide assortment of gear choices too. Now diving is my favorite activity and I can't get enough. I'm looking forward to the summer and diving locally with them. Next year my son, who will be old enough, will take diving lessons with them. more

AVOID!! 6/28/2011

Learn from my losses ... I was excited about going to the classes here with my brother (a gift from a relative who wanted to support bonding between myself and my brother who was living abroad and was rarely in the US) and the owner seemed to be reasonable up through swiping my credit card. About a week after paying for the course (still 2 weeks before our scheduled course) for my brother and I had to return to ask for a refund. The reason was that my asthma resurfaced and I needed more time get my lungs scuba-ready and as my brother wanted to take the course with me he wanted to wait as well ... plus as neither of us lived in our childhood hometown near CT we weren't sure when we could get back to the area to take the course... thus the refund. When we asked the owner for a refund and explained the strange but unfortunate situation, not only did he deny our request but he verbally abused us for 'taking advantage' of his business, supposed lying on the course form (ie - my asthma), etc. Then when I filed to my credit card to stop the payment due to the lack of services rendered, the submission he gave them to explain the situation from his point of view contained many lies and different quotes than what he had told us in person. It was an unfortunate circumstance that came up but the owner handled it horribly and doesn't seem to understand ethical business practices. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake and hundreds of many dollars lost - avoid getting your certification or purchasing merchandise here. more

Don’t believe the negative comments. 6/10/2011

I met Capt. Saam back in 2004 when I needed a refresher class for my Open Water certificate. I have since continued on up thru Master Diver currently training as a Divemaster. During this time I have been in many pool and open water sessions with beginning students and have seen Saam do amazing things to keep uncomfortable students on track and safely complete their training. He has also done what other Instuctors , should but don’t always do, fail a student who should not be certified. I have heard these students, who cannot perform critical skills argue for a Certification. Saam always allows them to get extra help and/or come back for a second class. With a little patients Capt. Saam will take the time to help them become a comfortable diver. This is definitely not the kind of place that will give you a card just for showing up at the pool. I have gone diving with many people over the years who should not have been allowed to scuba diving, a danger both to themselves and their buddy. Not one of them was ever certified by Saam. P.S. When my Daughters want to be certified, they are going to Saam. more

Best diving in Stamford 6/9/2011

This place is great, Capt. Saam knows exactly what he's talking about when you go diving with him. Scuba Diving can be a dangerous activity, and he puts a really large focus on safety, he wants to protect everyone on his boat. more

Very Expensive Mistake 8/31/2010

Captain Saam is a verbally abusive jerk. Details will follow as to why and to what extent he is a jerk, but just understand it is important that phrase be your first impression of Capt. Saam. As an instructor, he was fine, but the entire experience was stressful, frustrating, and overall it was a disheartening first SCUBA experience. To start out the pool session of the confined water he physically shoved me into the pool. Mind you, if we were 8 years old and best buddies, this would have been a fine action to take. However, he was supposedly a professional SCUBA instructor and not an 8-year old child, even though he acted that way. Throughout the next two days Saam verbally abused the three students perpetually and was actively antagonistic toward the older student who was working toward becoming a SCUBA instructor giving him a great deal of grief and little information that was helpful. Apparently they had been friends for a while and the poor guy just decided to deal with Saam's petulance. His verbally abusive behavior was particularly pronounced because he seemed to truly enjoy his little power trip over his 4 students. Wow, did it take all your advertising prowess to fill a class less than halfway? Anyway, he managed to scam me out of $565 while making it an entirely terrible experience. Best of luck searching for a qualified SCUBA instructor, but I recommend doing it any way possible that avoids Captain Saam. more
