Terrible Food and Service!!! Never Again!! 3/12/2011

I wish I could give negative stars for this awful establishment but unfortunately thats not possible. My GF and I came here on a date because of all of the great reviews they've gotten here. REALLY? Does this place have ringers writing these because it was nowhere even close to what we expected. We walked in and we were sat immediately. After waiting for about 10 minutes for someone to come by and say hello, I got up and informed a server that was walking around. They said they would send someone right over. We should have just left right then but we didn't. A few minutes later a guy came by and took our drink and food order then disappeared once again. As we sat there slurping the remnants of our soda from our empty glasses, we patiently waited for our food. My GF had the baked ziti. She said it wouldn't have been bad if the noodles weren't hard and it had flavor. I felt close to the same way about my Veal picatta, which has to be one the easiest dishes to prepare, yet it tasted like one thing and one thing only...SALT. Nasty. I would have loved to inform a manager of our lovely evening but we never saw one. So I guess we can let them know here. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE. Do not waste your time. more

Fabulous 9/9/2010

Capozzi's has great food choices. The basil oil is impeccable. In addition, the owners come to each table to check to see if everything is okay. When we were there on Friday, we enjoyed a piano player as well. The wait staff is very knowledgable about the details of the food and wine. Afterwards, have fun in the garden playing bocce ball. Capozzis was quite a treat. more

Tasty food but the ambiance wasn't for me 4/17/2010

We tried this restaurant based on reviews here on Citysearch. Our opinion is that this would be a phenomenal place to get take-out, but eating here may not be worth it. The parking lot was a fiasco (we gave up and parked at the plaza down the street). The place was packed so we had to wait about 30 mins for a table... no big deal as we stood at the bar and had a drink. There were two live bands, one inside and one out. Our table was outside and the outside band was playing at such a high volume level that the waiter had to practically yell to be heard. The music was fine, but just too loud. The inside dining room looked nice, with booths and white tablecloths. The outside looked less so, with plastic chairs and no heaters. The staff really hustled and the place seems well managed. But after freezing out in the "plastic-chairs patio" being assaulted by loud music, we would have more enjoyed taking our food home. Pros: Great food Cons: Crowded; live music was ridiculously loud more

Best Italian restaurant I've ever had 2/8/2010

I saw this restaurant frequently but I never thought to stop by. I finally went today with my gf and was I impressed. By far it is the best pasta I've ever tasted as well as the best manicotti. The server was very nice. Too bad I don't remember his name, but I will remember his face the next time I do come. The owner came by while we were eating and was very friendly. Offered us to try their desserts, but because of the large portions, we were stuffed. My only complaint is that I don't have enough stomach space to have continued eating. I will be returning again here, but this time I'm bring my family. Great atmosphere. Pros: So far, the pasta, manicotti, and the service Cons: wish I had more space for food more

My New Favorite Restaurant 1/15/2010

I am so impressed not only by the food here, but their excellent service trumps that of all the other Italian restaurants I previously frequented. My boyfriend and I have only dined there a handful of times, and they always remember us when we come back! Tonight we got there in time for the late night menu (which didn't include salads), but they made one for us anyway! Then we ordered "Grandpa's Pie," which is essentially a white pizza with just the right amount of basil and garlic and fresh roma tomatoes. It was great until our pizza somehow fell off our high table. We didn't expect them to do anything about it, since we had already eaten half the pizza; but they made us new one! I can't say enough about this place. They are so accommodating, and the food is by far the best Italian in the area!! Pros: service, service, service! great pasta, salads, and pizza! more

Best Italian in Atlanta that we've found so far... 6/3/2009

This food is unbelievable. I'd say it trumps our Italian standby on Chesher Bridge Rd by several points. It's a few bucks more than Italian chains, but so worth it. Pros: Soho or Downtown (under Italian specialities); red sauce Cons: liquor license has been slow to come... more

Delicious Italian 1/30/2009

Got a calzone from here recently. The guy I talked to on the phone was very pleasant and helpful and my food came nicely packaged not slapped together in some flimsy box like other places. The food was delicious. On the down side, it was a little more expensive than other Italian places around Emory. Still, I would Definitely go again for some quality food. Pros: Delicious food, a lot of variety, nice staff Cons: A little expensive more

Great Pizza 12/23/2008

My husband and I frequently patronize the Capozzis new location on Clairemont in Decatur. The food and the service have been great. Their seafood specials are awesome! I love the pizza and the salads. The pizza is the closest to New York style that I have eaten so far in Atlanta .The creamy garlic salad dressing is not overpowering. It has just the right amount of garlic. Give Capozzis a try. Pros: Pizza more

Best Pizza in Atlanta 12/4/2008

I love this place! I'm a New Jersey transplant living in Atlanta and often find myself craving the great italian food from up north. My wife heard about this italian restaurant opening up in the Emory Area on Clairmont Road that claimed to serve "NY Style Pizza." Needless to say, I had low expectations considering a lot of restaurants claim to be "NY Style" and often disappoint. After trying this restaurant several times, I am proud to say not only does this restaurant serve actual "NY style" pizza, it is the best pizza in the city. My family has tried many of the dishes on their menu and everyone agrees with me that this place has great food. Unlike some other Italian restaurants in Atlanta, this place is low on prices and high on charm. It is a true find; I can't wait to go back and get another slice. Pros: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza! Cons: Nothing, this restaurant is a find. more

Great New York Thin Crust Pizza! Wonderful Atmosphere 11/29/2008

We are new to Atlanta(Emory Area) and have been searching for great New York Pizza and food. Saw this new Italian restaurant the other day while driving on Clairmont Rd so decided to give it a try Thanksgiving weekend. The kids and I loved it. The pizza crust is thin New York style. We are looking forward to trying their many dishes as well. Highly recommend you give it a try! Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: none! more

You have to eat here!!! 11/25/2008

I am back. I didnt skip the appetizer and only ate half of my entree. The food was spectacular again. Very consistent. I had a very remarkable dessert this time. Clifford found out that I had not had a dessert there yet and highly recommended the cheesecakes or the cannoli. I chose the cannoli for somethng a little lighter. He brought me both a tasting of the cheesecakes and the cannoli. Both were tasty, tasty, tasty. My server tonight was Ryan, a very professional and energetic man. When you go in ask for Clifford or Ryan if you want to have great service. Go the the restaurant if you want mouth watering and tasty food. I know that I will be returning soon. Pros: Food, Clifford, Ryan, Desserts, Service Cons: Still waiting on a wine list and the bar. more

MONIROSE THE PERSON THAT WROTE THE BAD REVIEW WAS PROBABLY FIRED FROM THE RESTAURANT 11/25/2008

Great food, great atmosphere! 11/22/2008

This is a pretty new location and, since discovering it about two months ago, we've eaten at or carried out from Capozzi's at least five times. Each time the food was excellent. The wine selection is a bit limited right now, but we're told it will be expanding. As for service, we have never had a problem --- even when we've been there with kids. To the contrary, we have really enjoyed the friendly, down to earth staff and especially the owner - who makes you feel like he's entertaining you in his own home. The atmosphere is informal and very comfortable. As a native New Yorker, this place feels very much like home. The chicken francese is to die for. The chicken cutlet parmigiana is nice and thin and lightly breaded-- not like some of the very thick and unbreaded "chicken parmesan" that gets passed off in other restaurants. The pizza is also very good, right firmness and crispness to the crust and appropriate amount of cheese (not the gooey crust or disproportionately heavy amount of cheese that you will sometimes get in other places ). The tomato sauce is authentic - great weight and consistency, with just the right amount of sweetness. I would highly recommend this as a place to try, that has a high likelihood of becoming a regular haunt for many. Pros: Great food, comfortable and authentic ambience Cons: We didn't have any more

If you like bad Italian and bad service, eat here! 11/11/2008

This restaurant is AWFUL! The food, when we finally got it, was mediocre, at best. Our server was inattentive and uneducated on the menu. Our entree took over an hour to be delivered to us and a complaint to the manager (I think it was the owner, actually) yielded nothing more than an eye roll. The rolls were straight from the freezer to the basket and tasted like it. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: none, really Cons: parking was hard to find, food was awful, service was even worse more
