The historical Plains Hotel has a large dining room and a small coffee shop. The dining room has a very good buffet lunch on Monday through Friday. Here you can find some of the best food in Cheyenne. Order from the extensive menu and add the salad bar from the buffet for a fine lunch. The barebones dining room can be very noisy, and service is often a problem, with unprofessional waitpeople becoming overwhelmed by the lunch crowds. If you order more than one dish, everything will come at once unless you specify you want to have them served separately. All women are referred to by terms of endearment by the staff, no matter the age or status. The excellent chef deserves a better dining room, but his or her food makes the place worth a visit or two.
