Folks, Don't expect the same inexpensive down home service from the new crew that we've gotten from Dr Hecht these many years.

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/3/2014

Make no mistake about it. This not the same clinic it was when Dr. Hecht owned the practice. It's been some time since I've seen a licensed business so unorganized and unprofessional. If you're seeking a good vet with a professional code of conduct who is about his or her business, I suggest you look further than Hecht Veterinary Clinic. Here is my experience with them:I was 1st introduced to Dr. Hecht around 1998 by my cousin, Rick Curl, who is a personal acquaintance of the Dr. My dogs and I frequented his practice for years with never a problem. Years have passed and during that time I moved away and returned. I know Dr. Hecht retired to Florida, so I was a bit surprised, but glad to see the clinic was still open.Tuesday march 12th I took a puppy to Hecht Veterinary to get a rabies shot and a health certificate with certificate of acclimation to send a puppy to California. all went well.Thursday March 28th I called Hecht Veterinary Hosp[ital to find out how much the veterinary costs would be to send a puppy to Hawaii. I submitted the appropriate information regarding this endeavor via e-mail, and received an e-mail back, from Megan Downing, asking the pup's age and informing me that they would contact me Monday on Tuesday with an answer to my question.Monday March 31st I called the office to politely explain that the prospective buyer had been calling me all weekend and needs to know (as soon as possible)how much the they will charge as this is the last bit of information he needed to help make a determination as to weather he could afford to import the puppy. I was told somebody would get in contact with me that day. That day came and went...as did Tuesday.Wednesday April 2nd I called the the vet again to inquire as to what happened. I also called Ponca City Veterinary Vospital to speak with Marc Campbell, the owner of Hecht Veterinary Hospital. Only after that, about 2 hours later, did I ever receive a call back from Hecht Vet.Fortunately, I didn't wait around on Megan Downing and the vets at Hecht. I found a PROFESSIONAL clinic that answered my questions and desired my business. As every vet in Oklahoma should know veterinarians in Oklahoma are a dime a dozen. more

Good experience! Very caring. 5/1/2012

I found these vets honest and caring and passionate in helping my dog. I like it that they are interested in taking the time to talk to me about the concerns I had. Pros: null Cons: null more

Excellent experience! 2/11/2012

I recently took my kitten to Hecht Vet Hospital to get her spayed and had an great experience with them. The office staff was very polite and patient with my nervous cat. She was aggressive during her stay there (to my embarrassment) and the staff was more than professional and understanding about it. Unlike the other reviewer here, I thought that their prices were VERY reasonable especially for the excellent care that they gave. Pros: null Cons: null more

25 years 10/27/2010

I've been taking my dogs and now rabbits to Hecht for 25 years. Doesn't overcharge, always takes good care of them, and doesn't try to sell you items or procedures that aren't needed. Even though the Doc is retired, the new people are very nice and my two female Holland Lops have been spayed, and they are both doing well. Prices very very reasonable compared to other clinics in the area. more

Don't loose the no nonsense approach what 10/21/2010

Still a good place to take your pet. Note to the new owners -- Don't loose the no nonsense approach which made Hecht Veterinary what it is today. more

Fantastic Clinc 7/29/2010

Hecht Veterinary Clinic is the place to go if you need great care at a reasonable price (and who doesn't need that). Our beagle had a cherry eye and the vets in Owasso wanted $500+ to fix it, Dr. Hecht fixed his eye and kept him for the night (which the Owasso vets weren't going to do) for $75. Jack's eye is perfect now and it didn't cost us an arm and a leg. I am a groomer in Owasso and send all my clients to this fantastic clinic! more

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! 1/31/2010

Dr. Hecht is amazing. He really knows his stuff and he doesn't over charge for anything like any of the other vets in Tulsa. He doesn't try to mislead you into having to pay for test after test either. I took my pets to Marina for years and had to deal with their crap and outragious prices. I found Dr. Hecht when I was looking for a place to get my two dogs fixed. Every place I called wanted over 200 dollars for each! I love my dogs, but I simple didn't have that much money. So I found hecht and called to ask their prices. Neither of my dogs bills was over $100! At first I was skeptical, but they did an awesome job and it's a very clean, cute, and friendly place! The real test came when one of my dogs pulled her stitches out and had what looked like a hernia around the area. I called Dr. Hecht, ready to be told I would have to pay a hefty fee to get it fixed. He simply told me to bring her in and he'd fix her right up. He didn't charge me a thing! And he didn't have to do any stupid tests to find out if she had a hernia. He simply felt around the area and could tell she was ok. He's just that experienced! He even gave her stronger stitches instead of desolvable ones and removed them for free as well. He also let me drop her off in the morning and kept her for me while I went to my college classes the day she had them removed! Dr. Hecht really cares about your pets and he treats you and them with respect and kindness! He's an honest and hard working man! I tell everyone I know with pets to go to him! I definately recommend him! more

it's a wart! 1/29/2010

I had been taking my dog to Banfield until they said a procedure to remove a small growth on her back would be atleast $800 and with the "tests and medication to make sure the tumor is not malignant" the total would be around $1,900. I unfortunatly had to decline and let my dog live in discomfort not knowing if she had cancer. Shortly later when my dog began vomiting water I took her to the closest vet, Dr. Hecht. He told me that she had disentery & to feed her yogurt & cottage cheese. While I was there I asked him about the growth on her back that Banfield was charging almost $1,900 to fix. Dr. Hecht said "it's a wart. I'll remove it for $75." Her disentary & wart were gone within the week for less than $100. I still feed my dog yogurt & cottage cheese as a treat Pros: honest, nice, friendly, patient more

You can't please everyone 3/19/2009

I love Dr. Hecht. I've had the privledge of being a part of the Hecht Vet Clinic family. I think that it's wonderful that Dr. Hecht doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the smallest of services. He's been doing this for so long that it's all old hat to him...yet he takes the time to be compassionate and caring. He's no nonsense, and so are the people at the counter. What an achievement to be nominated for the best Vet in Tulsa by the Urban Tulsa Magazine. Although he didn't win, his nomination over the numerous other vets in Tulsa was well deserved, and I look forward to seeing him nominated again this year. If you've had a bad experience at Hecht, it's obviously a fluke...you can tell by all the 5 star ratings Dr. Hecht has on every single review page. Pros: 40+ years of service, Urban Tulsa Best Of nominee, Cheap Cons: none more

Glad I switched to this Vet 3/16/2009

My dog had breathing problems for months. We were very concerned. Our regular vet tried various things to clear it up but he got no better. He was talking about next trying expensive tests. Thankfully I heard about Dr. Hecht! I was told his prices are very reasonable and this was correct. Even better, my dog got better ALMOST IMMEDIATELY!! I mean, less than one day! Several people at my work had talked about switching to him because he is so good, so the negative note about 20 year patients being the only ones treated well is bologna. I dumped my regular vet (expensive, ineffective) and will take all our animals there. Pros: My dog got better when other Vets had failed Cons: Cash or Checks only, no plastic more

wonderfull vet. 3/9/2009

I had to take my dog to be put to sleep. she kept biting people done everything I could do to get her to stop. Pros: he cares Cons: bit of a drive for me but well worth it all other vets wanted 250.00 to fix dog. more

Dr. Hecht is kind, gentle, efficient, and less expensive than other vets. I take all my cats there, and he always has a kind word for them. 1/14/2009

Dog Whisperer 9/9/2008

I do not have a pet at this time but used Dr. Hecht for several years for my 3 lb poodle. He is the most kind, gentle, and caring vet I have ever been to. I have recommended him to all my friends and most have changed over to him. In my mind he is like Dr. Dolittle or even a "dog whisperer." His charges are reasonable so that you feel like you CAN take your animal to the doctor. When I get another pet I have no doubt who the vet will be! Pros: Close to my home. You can sense his love for animals. Cons: None more

Those others don't know what they're talking about... 7/29/2008

Dr. Hecht is awesome! A few years ago I took him my dog and didn't know what was wrong with him. We found him having a fit in the back yard when we got home. Turns out he had parvo. Dr. Hecht kept him overnight on an IV to try to bring him around. Unfortunately, it was too late. They called and told me that my dog had gone into a comma during the night and was not going to come out of it. They took care of the body for me and sent me a bill. I was prepared to pay around $300 for the overnight stay and IV. My bill was for $60!!! I now take my puppy to him. I tried one other vet that was recommended and should never have gone. My puppy is suffering because the other vet didn't even diagnose him, just gave him anti-inflammatory medicine that he doesn't need. Going to take him to Dr. Hecht this Friday to end his suffering and fix his leg. Just think how happy my puppy will be when Dr. Hecht fixes his leg for him! Pros: Close to my home and very accommodating. Cons: Don't know!!!! more

Dr. Hecht the Best Vet Around! 6/23/2008

Dr. Hecht is hands down the "best vet" I have ever used! I have 3 dogs a small, medium, and large. I am always in and out of there quickly and I don't think I have ever spent more than a $100 or even $100 at one time even when I have brought ALL 3 DOGS in!!! He is very quick and thorough and won't waste your time or money on unnecessary procedures OR services. He is always kind and friendly to me but ESPECIALLY to my dogs. He was recommended to me by a friend and I recommend him to everyone! I have only been taking my dogs there since Oct 2007 (so a newer client). Pros: Quick vet care and inexpensive compared to other vets also has reasonable hours Cons: NONE! more

NO NO NO...If you care about your pet you will find another Vet. 4/23/2008

This Vet SLAPPED MY DOG IN THE FACE and SUSPENDED HER FROM A CHOKE LEASH to calm her down. He said she didn't like men and that she bit him while they were in the back. Then he vaccinated her and I didn't know that pregnant dogs weren't supposed to be vaccinated. She was three weeks pregnant at the time and had premature puppies approximately one week later. I don't hurt my animals or choke them and I took my SEVEN POUND mixed breed female to this man because of the good reviews on this site. But, apparently this vet is only good to his patients who have been coming to him for twenty years. If you don't hurt your pets or choke them or give them medications that they shouldn't take then DO NOT use this Veterinarian. Pros: There's only one Hecht Veterinarian Clinic Cons: There's one too many Hecht Veterinarian Clinics more

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! 3/17/2008

Dr Hecht has saved us literally thousands of dollars. We have taken dogs of all sizes with special needs, cats, rabbits, and even chickens, ducks, and turkeys to him with absolutely wonderful results. We have had yorkies spend the night in the hospital for ICU needs for 25% the cost of some other places. He has treated chickens for many diseases, and has treated our rabbits for ear infections and even a broken leg on a show rabbit and made it good as new. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. more

Fantastic animal care with no nonsense! 2/14/2008

Dr. Hecht lessens my pet's fear of being at the vet by getting things done quickly with a firm hand. This veterinary is the only one I've been to more than once, I've done business here for about eight years now. He even brought my puppy back from parvo - I thought she was a goner but she has lived a long healthy life since. I send all my friends to Hecht, and they end up being return customers also! Pros: Not as expensive as others, but better quality Cons: They are there for the animals - if you need to be coddled and babied along, go elsewhere. more
