We have been taking our Shiba Inu there every week for 2 years now, and he LOVES it! \r Scott (the owner) is terrific and always gives us a report on how the day went.\r The dogs do run around on 5 acres, and an occasional scuffle can take place due to the fact that, you know, they are dogs. If the owners see it happen, they'll tell you about it. But they can't be expected to keep an eye on every dog every minute of the day when the dogs are out running around having fun.\r Ours has come back with a few scratches on rare occasion, but sometimes when you play hard, you get a ding once in a while, so we don't mind. I would say it has happened about twice out of the 100+ times that he has been there (and, being a Shiba, it's usually his fault anyway).\r I highly recommend this place. Your dog will be so pooped from having so much fun that he'll be asleep before you hit the end of the driveway. more

The next best place to home for your pooch 8/3/2009

When i adopted my rescue dog 5 years ago he suffered from severe separation anxiety. Once my lab/shepherd mix found 24 hr a day love in my home, he didn't want to be away from that....even for a couple of hours. As my annual 2 wk vacation approached, i agonized over where to leave Eddy. I even considered not going on vacation. A friend of mine referred me to Camp Happy Paws and Eddy has been an annual Happy Camper ever since. The best review was Eddy's...after i picked him up the first year....he looked back longingly towards his step mom and dad and all his new camp buddies. Next year, as we approached the long driveway, his tail started wagging. He always comes home fit, healthy and happy and I can enjoy my vacation knowing that he is in the next best place to home! I wouldn't leave Eddy anywhere else! Pros: lots of love and exercise and no kennels or cages Cons: can't really think of any, more

We Love Camp Happy Paws and so does our Dog! 1/30/2009

We have had our dog at Camp Happy Paws since he was a puppy old enough to go to camp. When we go out of town, it is the only place that I want our dog to be. He is always so happy to get out of our car and greet the owners and I leave knowing that he has had the best care available. I would hate to think of ever getting rid of our dog, but if for some awful reason we could no longer keep him, my first place that I would turn to would be Camp Happy Paws. They have NEVER given me a reason to think other wise. As a dog owner and a dog lover, they are a god send! Thank you for making it easy to leave town knowing that our dog is well taken care of. I would highly recommend Camp Happy paws to any of our friends. That is how we found them. Word of mouth and I think that is golden! Thanks Camp Happy Paws!! Pros: New facilities and always accommodating! more

I am the proud owner of a somewhat spoiled city dog named Oliver. Oliver has been lucky enough to stay with the great family of Camp Happy Paws for a couple of years now. more

Still Very Unsure..... 11/3/2008

Though I have given this place two stars I am not certain that is fair. If I were to judge everything on the surface, I would certainly give it a 4 or 5. However, I am going with my gut on this one and honestly the two star rating is two stars too many on the gut meter. When we dropped our two dogs off we were laughing at how happy they were and that they were going to love this place. So far so good! Shortly after we landed in Seattle I had a message that my dog was limping and that it had just started that morning. I gave permission to give my dog a pain meds and mentioned that we would be there in an hour or so to pick them up. Well....all the excitement and anticipation of picking up our dogs was soon replaced with uneasiness and concern. Our Chocolate is normally a nut...whenever she sees us she goes bonkers and charges toward us. Well, not this time...she walked out the door head down looking as though she hadn't seen the light of day for a week. Then my other dog comes hopping out on three legs, not looking good at all. Initially I didn't think much of the original call as my dog has had TPLO done to both knees. I just thought he was tired and a bit sore from running and playing all week. When he walked out limping, it was not what I expected at all. He cant put any pressure on his leg and in fact I am taking him to the vet today. There is an area of missing hair on the same knee and no explanation what so ever. ""Perhaps he slept wrong"", NOT, I know what that looks like.. In fact, just as we were leaving my wife gave him the pain meds- I told them an hour prior to go ahead and give them to him, why he hadn't I don't know. So, If everything is in fact as it seems I would have to say this is a wonderful place for dogs. However, the fact that my dogs looked scared and limped really makes it hard to ever foresee going back. I know that I can be over protective, but when you see those faces and your gut tells you ""this isn't good"" I cant recommend. Pros: A dog paradise provided they are being tended to as advertised Cons: Not really sure my dogs are in the best of hands and that is too bad, because it could be perfect. more

Best doggie daycare! 9/21/2008

I've been taking my dog here for more than a year. My rescue dog had socialization issues because his former owner left him an apartment and never took him outside. I am happy to report that my dog has now learned ""dogspeak"" from the camp and absolutely loves this place. In fact, I cannot open the car door fast enough for him when we arrive. It is immaculately run and the owners treat your dog like their own. Summers are especially gorgeous with the woods providing constant stimulation for the dogs. My dog always returns happy and so well exercised that within a mile after leaving, he's sound asleep. more

Avoid anytime 9/1/2008

Our dog came back with 4 puncture-like scars, one of which was so deep that our dog had to have surgery and 12 stitches on her shoulder. We also found out that the scars were rather old, and were left untreated until we picked her up. When we contacted the camp and the owner about this, we were informed that they had no idea what or when our dog was injured. They also told us that they were not responsible because of the contract we signed, and that things like this happened time to time. They did not appear to be concerned about how our dog was. more

OK 8/28/2006

The dogs are sometimes left unsupervised so make sure you are comfortable with that situation. I liked it better when the dogs lived with the family in the same house, but now they have built a cabin next door just for the dogs and I feel this isn't as safe. Pros: Cheaper than other places, flexible drop off/pick up hours Cons: Unsupervised dogs, too many dogs per handler more
