Wonderful Experience!! 4/6/2012

We came to San Diego with our two grown children, their spouses and 4 grandchildren. We also came with our 2year old beloved Cocker Spaniel who could not go all the places we went. Camp Diego introduced her to Playdays and many wonderful playmates. I found the owner to be very friendly and caring of all the animals in his care. Camp Diego was clean and each day we picked our baby up she appeared to be so happy, and the next day could hardly wait to return! Wonderful, clean happy place with very responsible employees. Any bad reviews posted must be a mistake because I would recommend Camp Diego and the wonderful interaction that our baby received as ""Top of the Line""! more

Don't Bring Your Dog Here!!!!!!! 8/21/2011

Don't work or bring your dog to Camp Diego. Tom and his wife Pat Byrnie are completely unprofessional and invest nothing back into their own business, this is why that place is such a crap hole and constantly smells no matter how much you clean it. I've personally observed rats and their feces almost everywhere in the whole facility including kennels and eating areas. They are dishonest, selfish and generally bad people. The worst is Tom, who on many occasions has made slurs and demeaning statements towards gay people, other races and women to me. The really sad and terrible thing about this is these very people he's degrading, are all their his customers. Never let the thought cross your mind to go anywhere near that place. I wouldn't, even if the world was ending. more

Excellent Service! 7/26/2011

I have been going here for years now. My dog loves the atmosphere and always comes home in a good mood. Where other dog walkers/groomers treat their ""clients"" just as a meal ticket, Johnny and Ty truly take an interest in knowing and caring for the the dogs in their care. I recommend them to everyone who cares about their pet. You really get your money more

SHAME ON CAMP DIEGO!!!! 8/17/2010

SHAME ON CAMP DIEGO!!!! I put in 4 months of the best I had to give these people and because I dont get along with their new manager Audrey I was FIRED!!! No warning, no chance to find another job, no thank you for a job well done all those months just CUT! you're out of here. Pat (the owner) just called me up on the phone to tell me. Not in person, on the phone. I have never been treated so badly! Why didnt she give me the chance to work Wednesdays or weekends when Audrey isnt working? If Id known today was my last day I would have said good-bye to the dogs but I didnt even get THAT chance! :( more

I have No Complaints 4/11/2009

I decided to write this for everyone who needs to find someone to watch their precious children while they are away. I was very nervous at first due to I have never had to leave my puppy with anyone before. When I say puppy I mean an 11 month Boxer/Shepard mix, 80LBS of wreckless fun. I had asked friends to come and stay at my place to watch him, but everyone I know knows that he is quite the handful and really didn't want to help me out. (CRAPPY! I know) So I was refered to Camp Diego by some friends who often foster dogs, and always leave their dogs in Camp Diego's hands. I brought my dog by a few days earlier then when i was to drop him off to fill in the paperwork, and the employees there were nice enough to show me around and to let Dexter sniff around and play for a little bit as well. He seemed to be excited about this so some of my nerves subsided. But still I have never left Dexter before, so my stomach was still in knots. The Employees allowed me to drop him off on a Sunday morning and I saw that they are staffed for the day even though they are closed and all the dogs in the yards having a great time. Dex was there for 3 nights and 4 days. He came home exhausted, and ready to sleep standing up, I kid you not. I feel very comfortable leaving him in Camp Diego's hands again if there should be another chance for this full time bartender and part time student to ever take a vacation again. Thank You Camp Diego, you made my life a little bit easier for those few days more

A no go... 8/20/2008

I made the mistake of leaving my dog here for the weekend. She came back with scabs on her face and neck, behaving very skittishly and refusing to eat. It has been 3 weeks, and she is just now returning to normal. She is a young lab who lives for the dog park and gets along famously with dogs of all shapes and sizes. You can't tell me that she's not suited for a social environment - she's just used to being cared for properly. Whoever it is that keeps defending Camp Diego on these sites must work for them. I don't see that this kennel has any redeeming qualities. more

Best doggy daycare in San Diego 8/14/2008

Some folks just don't get it........dogs just want to have fun! And at Camp Diego, they can have it.\r \r The staff are amazing, the facility is immaculate (take a look at my back yard if you need a comparison) and above all they love the dogs in their care. My two come back from a day with them....exhausted and happy. I have an epileptic English Bulldog (Buster) who I adopted with significant behavioural issues, and an English Mastiff (Maggie) who was adopted having been severely physically and emotionally neglected. Our friends at Camp Diego have been pivotal in helping Maggie to come out of her shell and learn to start trusting people. I have complete confidence in Camp Diego to handle Buster's meds and monitor him pre- and post-seizure, and have regularly left him there for boarding when I've been out of town.\r \r I was recommended to Camp Diego by work colleagues when I first moved to San Diego from the East coast. Now it's my turn to wholeheartedly recommend Camp Diego to anyone looking for a safe and secure place to take their pups for either daycare or boarding. A happy puppy, is a tired puppy. I wouldn't trust my kids with anyone else.\r \r Give them a try........your dogs will thank you! Pros: Happy, tired puppies Cons: Absolutely none more

Not a good choice 8/13/2008

Our dog's regular boarding place was full so we decided to try Camp Diego. While their close proximity to the airport is nice, I don't think we will be returning. When I picked up our lab, she came out with two puncture wounds on her face. She has now been home for two days and has never behaved more wildly. They aren't open on Sundays, and I have a feeling that being closed involves leaving the dogs unattended in their cages. I hate to give a family owned business a bad review, but I would DEFINITELY not recommend this place and can say for sure we won't be returning. more
