I urge you to NOT use this daycare. You can avoid the trauma we went through, the legal hassles, and out-of-court settlement which was paltry. My boyfriend and I were travell...

My dog died at this place! 6/15/2010

Under no circumstances should you leave your pet at Camp Canine. They were aware my dog was reliant on anti-seizure meds. When my flight home was diverted/delayed, I phoned and spoke with the owner (? - Peter). After he confirmed that there were no meds left, I asked if I could bring meds to the night staff when I arrived (approx one hour after he was closing at 8 pm). He said ""Sorry"". I asked ""There's nothing that can be done?!?"" And he said ""Sorry."" He knew my dog needed the meds but would not stay late and would not permit me to give the meds to the night staff! more

Nasty bite marks in my dog's face 10/24/2009

We boarded our 8 month old labrador at Camp Canine for 5 days. The reviews were good and we wanted 24 hour supervision. Since we picked her up, our dog hasn't been the same and we are still wondering what exactly happened there. She lost weight and she has two nasty bite marks in her face. \r \r Before leaving her at Camp Canine we specifically told the owner that our puppy is very playful and that other dogs might not always appreciate that. He assured us that there was 24 hour supervision and that the person responsible for watching the dogs would always intervene if anything goes wrong. We were wondering why nobody intervened when she got bitten in her face? Why weren't they more careful? The bite marks turned into scars and I'm hoping they will become less visible over time. We are really not happy with this. As you can imagine. \r \r We asked for an explanation, but they're either rude, don't answer of give lame excuses. \r \r I do not recommend this place to anyone. \r Cons: No supervision more

Overnight Boarding WITHOUT our Permission 8/12/2009

We have a four month old puppy who visited three days at Camp Canine, over the course of two weeks. The first two visits were fine. Howevever, the third visit resulted with our dog unnecessarily spending the night in a crate. \r \r On the Camp Canine website and in our discussions with the people at the front desk, we were told last pickup is at 9pm. My fiance went to pick up our dog last night at 8:35pm and found an employee locking up. My fiance asked if they were closed; when he was told that it was, he asked if he could get our dog. The employee walked away. Our puppy was stuck inside. \r \r I called and spoke with a cleaning person who said that he was the only person there and that there was no emergency contact. I left a voicemail and an email and received no response. Camp Canine did not call us to ask if we would require boarding for that evening. I've seen that employee that walked away during the three times that we brought our puppy; there was no reason for him to walk away.\r \r Our four month old puppy spent over 10 hours in a crate without our permission. Camp Canine does not offer any emergency contact or response. This has been gross negligence on the account of Camp Canine.\r \r BE CAREFUL! more

Interesting place 5/26/2009

We brought our golden retriever to Camp Canine. She is a 100% city dog and loves all doggie daycare places she has ever been to. A very typical Golden, in other words. Pros: Location, price Cons: Trouble for big dogs more

Snob at the front desk 1/8/2009

I just dropped my small breed dog off for the second time here and she seems to love it. She came home good and tired and it seems she had a good time. The price for the day is decent but I dropped one star becuase of the man in the front desk in the morning. He's there during the week and is usually snobby and rude, the rest of the staff is great so thank you guys! more

Unimpressive Day Care - Will Never Return 9/1/2008

I had high expectations after reading all the great reviews on here, but was very disappointed when I brought my little dog to day care at Camp Canine. The small dog's (20 lbs and under) playroom has a cube-shaped pen in it where the dogs are let in and out of the room securely. This little pen is - shockingly - made out of metal, chain-link fencing. I watched as my dog (and other dogs in the room) clawed at, jumped on, and scratched at the wire fencing pen over and over again as they tried to escape from the playroom. All these dogs could easily have caught their legs in the wire fence, gotten a paw stuck in its large holes, etc. It is totally unsafe to have a chain link fence box inside a room with small dogs. What a silly, unsafe design. I will never bring my dog back here again, and others with small dogs who jump/are curious should find another facility. Pros: good location Cons: unsafe playroom set up with wire fencing more

EXCELLENT CUTS AND FRIENDLY GROOMERS 6/10/2008

AFTER LOOKING FOR A GROOMER THAT UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, IT FINALLY TOOK ME 8 YEARS TO FIND THIS PERFECT PLACE! MY 2 DOGS LEAVE LOOKING AND SMELLING GREAT, THE GIRLS WERE SO FREINDLY TO MY BABIES, LOTS OF XOXO TLC THE MOMENT WE WALKED IN. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND I AM VERY PICKY!!! Pros: FRIENDLY, GREAT CUTS, GOOD TIMING Cons: THE ATTENDANTS IN THE DAY CARE DONT SEEM TO INTERACT AS MUCH WITH THE DOGS more

Great groomer, fun day care 2/5/2008

Camp Canine was a lucky find. I was searching for somewhere to leave Bongo during my long workday and dogwalkers became unreliable and expensive. My vet recommended Camp Canine as a healthy alternative for my maltese. She is well exercised and comes home good and tired. It took her a few times to warm up to the other dogs but now she pulls me down the block as soon as we turn on 73rd street. They also have a great groomer who sends her home looking like a show dog. more

My Dog Loves This Place! 1/23/2007

OUtstanding care, efficient, friendly best grooming! 12/1/2006

CC have always taken our dog when we've needed help. They are friendly and personal. Best, our dog loves going there. She gets to play with other dogs in supervised setting. Their grooming services are the best in NY and reasonably priced. Pros: grooming facilities and staff, friendly, helpful, for NY affordable Cons: some object to kennels at night more

Good groomer 11/1/2006

This groomer was good, and my dog looked nice - I would recommend it. It appeared clean and the staff was attentive. Cons: pet injured more

Ella loves her stays at Camp 12/18/2005

My dog, Ella, is always excited for her stays at Camp Canine. Upon our arrival at the street corner, she races to their front door and is always welcomed with open arm. This assures me she is treated with the care and attention she desires (and she demands lots of attention). I don't know what I would do without Camp Canine. Pros: Friendly, Accommodating, Clean more

Good bargain 8/25/2005

I brought my dog (a maltese) to them for the first time and wanted a very specific haircut. They had me meet with the groomer and I got exactly what I wanted. I'd been shopping around for prices and they charged $60 + tax, which is actually slightly lower than many others I checked out around the neighborhood. Free treats for the dog too! Pros: attention to dog Cons: a little small more

Fun! 10/17/2004

My golden retriever loves going to Camp Canine for grooming and play. He always comes back smelling amazing and looking gorgeous. My only suggestion is that you leave extremely specific instructions regarding clipping, nail trimming, and potty breaks for your dog. The staff seems eager to please and the dogs are all having a great time, but don't be afraid to speak up strongly about your preferences. Overall, Camp Canine is a good grooming service with flexible hours. Pros: Happy people, Happy dogs, Flexible Cons: , Nails too short once more

Pet Paradise 12/19/2002

Great place, friendly, and my pet is always well taken care of. Definitely more expensive than others, but my dog loves it, and always has fun. more

Camp Canine has been very good for our Jack Russell. Though a little on the expensive side it offers seperate rooms for large and small dogs, and the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Pros: Clean, Friendly, Knowledgeable Cons: Expensive, No outdoor facility more
