Good Experience at Camino Alto as Well 7/15/2011

I am also perplexed by the negative reviews. Just has not been my experience. No question that Venner was awesome and Dr. Truitt is young. But I found her to have great energy and attitude, my dogs love her and the staff (which by the way is fantastic and really accomodating) and the work that she has done on my dogs to date has been very good. In short I could not disagree more with the negative reviews. more

Good experience at Camino Alto 5/19/2010

We were used to seeing Dr. Venner before he retired (who we loved), but our experiences with Dr. Truitt have been lovely. She's very good with our dog and two cats, takes the time to explain issues, is very professional, and seems to have a great sense of humor. Had nothing but good experiences since she's taken over the practice and we've been in several times for ticks and a couple other random doggie issues.\r \r I'm a little baffled by the negative comments I see here.\r \r With regards to price, all vets in Marin seem very expensive (we've visited three including Camino Alto over the past six years). But keep in mind that it's also very expensive to live, rent, work here overall.\r \r -Shari Pros: Professional, caring, good listeners Cons: Not open Saturdays, but not a huge deal more

Wonderful and caring 3/4/2010

Unfortunately, out dog Lula was diagnosed with Leukemia. Dr. Truitt was very attentive, and caring. She helped us with our options and then came to our house for the procedure. Furthermore, she donated money to her school in Lulabelles name. I think she is an amazing vet, and person. Paige Fassig Pros: Sensitive more

Dr. Truitt Ruined this place 2/22/2010

Please keep your animals away from the incompetency of Dr. Truitt! She is extremely hostile and aggressive with the animals and is not helpful or respectful to the owners. Taylor might come from education but she could care less about the animals she treats. Under the management of Dr. Venner, Camino Alto Vet was incredible. When my puppy came down with a rare rash on his skin, Dr. Venner didn’t stop until he figured it out. I couldn’t be more thankful for all of the time and incredible effort he put into every examination, procedure, or simple check up. He is definitely an admirable vet. I cannot say the same for Dr. Truitt; she makes a simple examination intolerable with her hostility Pros: The service staff are incredible Cons: Dr. Truitt more

response to Camino Alto horrible review 2/4/2010

Can't believe the vitriol in one reviewer's comments. The vet comes from money?? what does that have to do with anything?? She's a recent graduate? So are all vets at some points in their lives. Dr, Truit is pleasant, educated, upbeat, humerous (she actually kisses my dog right on the nose when he pushes his face into hers) and patient. I have a wild puppy who, at the beginning, was almost unhandleable. Dr. Truit and the support staff have always been patient and kind towards him. Yes, Dr. Venner was wonderful. He cared for my other dog for 12 years. But please let's give Dr. Truit a chance. I don't think Dr. Venner's support staff would be sticking around if Dr. Truit was as awful as this person claims. Pros: support staff is patient and wonderful Cons: all veterinary care is expensive more

New Vet needs practice. Too rough and inexperienced. 12/2/2009

Unfortunately this clinic was been sold to a new doctor with no experience. I found her very rough and will not take my pet there again. The staff is friendly but it all starts with the vet, right? The person who will care for our pets. I will never go back there. more

Stay away from this place 10/31/2009

Dr Vener, the previous owner of Camino Alto is a good and caring vet, however he is fading out from there. The new owner and recent graduate who took over the clinic is beyond disgrace. Dr. Taylor Truitt is very aggressive with animals and clients alike. She is not gentle with patients, has a terrible attitude, suffers a ""know it all"" complex which is typical of young graduates sometimes, specially if they came with money to boss everybody around. And their prices are the highest of all the other clinics around from what I have been hearing. I have also heard that they have lost quite a bit of clients since the take over, and the reasons were a) because they are too expensive b) they don't like the new doctor. I would stay away from there. Pros: Dr Vener Cons: new owner Dr Taylor Truitt more

Ms. Sue Denser 4/29/2009

This is a wonderful friendly pet hospital. The Dr.s are great as well as the friendly VERY capable staff. My dog has had several problems and if they could not deal with the problem they refer it out. That to me is just great. I highly recommend them.\r \r Sue Denser more

Best vet i have ever found for our cats 9/19/2008

Dr. Venner is simply put amazing with animals. Panda, our elderly cat, was a terror at the vet, usually requiring two people to hold her for a simple exam; i won't go into details, but let's just say that taking her temperature was a very dangerous undertaking.\r \r The first time i went to Camino Alto Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Venner got out his thermometer and I wrapped my arms around Panda to help--he said, ""That's ok, you can let her go."" I shrugged and waited to see the carnage; Panda looked him over, he inserted the thermometer...and nothing happened. No fireworks, no yowling or scratching.\r \r It's been that way with every pet we've ever brought in--and, need i add, we've never had anything but the best care, not only from Dr. Venner but from every kind, animal loving person on his staff (and, when Panda became very ill at age 18, he came to our house and put her to sleep while i held her in my arms). Pros: great vet and staff, easy parking, always there for you more
