I was working at the time this lady came into California Pizza Kitchen with her family and what she is saying is a complete fabrication of the truth. Elise called her name and and she never came up to the front to say she was ready to be seated, so as procedure calls for, Elise called the next party's name. While on her way to seat the next customers, the lady came running up and asked if they had called her name and Elise told them that she missed her turn and would seat her when the next table was available. The lady then went out of control accusing Elise of discriminating against her for her race when she was just following the instructions that she was given. She did nothing wrong and that post is unfair and wrong. more

i arrived at cpk in the hillsdale mall on a crowded friday night but since there was only one of me the smoking hot hostess Elise sat me down right away at the bar. Although there were dozens of other customers she continued to help me out because it was the first time i had been to cpk. she even sat down with me and helped me read the menu because i forgot my glasses at home. she told me to order the BBQ chicken pizza and i was reluctant at first, but i could not refuse that beautiful smile of hers. when the food came she sat down with me and made sure i was satisfied and even offered to grab another pizza. i enjoyed the pizza and i enjotyed my restaurant experience. i cant wait to go back. more

II have to rate my recent meal at the Hillsdale Mall California Pizza Kitchen in San Mateo as the most degrading restaurant experience of my life. And I?ve eaten out a lot ? up to 10 times a week in restaurants of all types around the world. As a woman and a visible minority, I have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant until I went to California Pizza Kitchen..\r \r My dining nightmare began with the hostess, Elise, who insisted on giving my table away to a non-minority customer whose name was on the wait list after mine and whose name had been called after mine. She stood aside while the man berated me for refusing to wait my turn and would not explain that I had in fact been there first. She stalled me when I asked for the manager. Then, when my family was taken into the restaurant while I waited for the Manager, they left them standing in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by empty tables and told them that there wasn?t a table ready for them.\r \r The General Manager, Michael, initially apologized for the mistake by his staff and offered to take care of the situation. Then, to add insult to injury he came to our table as I was quietly feeding the children and announced, in front of my family, friends, and the guests and staff of the restaurants, that he was going to call security to have me removed from the restaurant ?for the safety of his staff? because ?they felt unsafe and threatened by my presence in the restaurant.? He refused to discuss the situation in a reasonable manner and I was forced to leave, humiliated, with 3 hungry and upset children in tow, while the hostess stood by smirking at us and people stared at us. I am still trying to figure out how I, a respectable university professor at dinner with 3 children (two 9-year olds and a 1-year old), could pose a public threat that warranted my immediate removal from California Pizza Kitchen. I did not get to eat but the Dennys-like customer service left me with a very bad taste in my mouth\r Pros: The menu looked interesting Cons: The heavy handed and disrespectful manner in which staff treated me, a visible minority, detracted from any positives the restaurant may offer. I prefer humiliation-free dining experiences. more

CPK always has great pizza. The one downside to this particular restaurant is that it is in a mall. So it can get quite busy and you may have to wait to be seated. But the food is always good and the service is never bad. Pros: Good Pizza more
