Cakery

I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday a few days ago and when i went to pick it up it was beautiful! Unfortunately when we ate it it tasted like nothing, more like bread than cake. more

I heard great things about Cakery from one of my friends. I ordered my son's 1st birthday cake from there and it was a very professional looking cake; very tall layers. However, the frosting did not taste like buttercream. Way too sugary and the cake was bland. Disappointing! more

I had heard so much about The Cakery that I coudn't wait to order from them. I ordered a cake for my husband's birthday and it was beautiful; however, the cake itslef was very disappointing. It was very dry and even though I had asked for extra filling that I was happy to pay for, there was a tiny line of filling in between 2 very tall layers. Once sliced, the icing just fell off in chunks. People were leaving almost whole slices on their plates. I won't order from them again. The price was comparable to other bakeries, but considering that I threw most of it away, it was an expensive and disappointing experience. more

I called ahead, because it is a long drive for me, and they said they could make a special fancy cake for my granddaughter's ninth birthday on the 15th. After driving there for two hours the same young woman who answered the phone told me they couldn't possibly make a fancy cake for the 15th. She did not even apologize when I told her that I had just spoken to her earlier. She just shrugged and gave me a dirty look! In this economy, that is the worst customer service I have had in ages. I was shocked and my granddaughter was disappointed. more

Unfortunately my experience with The Cakery was disappointing from start to finish. I called six days in advance to place an order for two dozen cupcakes and was told by a woman over that phone that they were no longer taking cupcake orders for the following week. After driving all the way to the store on a Tuesday to buy the cupcakes they had on hand I was told they weren't ready yet. When I asked if I could reserve two dozen and come back I was told that they couldn't do that. I went back two days later and only one dozen were available. After explaining my situation to several staff members it was apparent that they weren't willing to make the remaining dozen I needed for a shower. I even called back after arriving at home and asked if I could bring in a dozen pre-packaged cupcakes and pay to have them iced and decorated and was told "no" due to "health regulations." It was a very disappointing first and last experience with The Cakery. I had heard such wonderful things about this business and it's unfortunate that a small business today isn't willing to go the extra mile for the customer. All in all, I didn't feel as though I was a valued customer and ordered the remaining dozen from Harner's Bakery. The staff was polite, helpful, and they had my custom cupcake order ready in less than 24 hours. I would recommend choosing Harner's bakery for your cake needs. more

The birthday cake I ordered over the phone, with the recommendation of Walter Payton's Roundhouse Restaurant, was absolutely fantastic! The lady I spoke with over the phone at The Cakery was very helpful and made some wonderful suggestions. They delivered the cake to the restaurant in plenty of time for the dinner and everyone in our party commented on the quality, taste and beautiful decoration of the cake. All in all, I would recommend The Cakery to everyone. I Kathy K. more

I've heard such awesome things about The Cakery until I phoned them myself. I tried to get a price quote on 2 sizes and the woman was just rude. Not helpful whatsoever. It completely turned me off and it's unfortunate because I certainly will not be dealing with them solely because of that conversation. Sad Sad Sad more

The Cakery has built a reputation in the community where people will travel for these unique desserts. I have used this bakery a few times, all with resounding compliments. My friend bought her daughter's one-year birthday cake, and this thing looked good (and tasted good) enough to be on the cover of a magazine. The staff is helpful and creative. For what they do, they are pretty reasonably priced too! more
