After going through the reviews, am wondering how I would fit into the class coming all the way from africa with my tools.? Is it possible, I don't come with anything? more

Wonderful Place, with AMAZING people!! 10/31/2012

The Cake Craft Shoppe, I cannot say enough good things about this place. I have read some of the reviews and don't know where they are getting the nonsense I am seeing. I work in a Country Club in Kansas, as an Assistant Pastry Chef, and have taken two classes at the Cake Craft Shoppe, both of which were absolutely fantastic, I learned so much while I was there, and obviously it was worth it when I will drive all the way from Kansas to Sugarland for a second time to take the class. I strongly recommend taking classes there. And not only are the classes there great, but so to are the supplies and products they have, and any questions I had for Sheila, she was right there to help me and answer them.\r \r All of the staff there were very kind and inviting, any questions I had were answered. I have seen their work and it is great, they know what they are doing. And the classes I took there Sheila was the kindest person ever, always there to help, offer suggestions, tips, and pointers to stee more

Great Place to learn cakes 10/31/2012

To describe the school in one world is "awesome". The teachers and products are being sold are the best. I live in College Station TX and I drove two hours each way many times to take classes. I was so happy with the service at the shop that I recommended three more people to take classes. I learned so much and highly recommend the Cake Craft Shoppe to anybody who loves cakes more

I have taken all the Professional classes at Cake Craft Shoppe. Sheila has taught each one and she is a wonderful instructor. Everyone has some bad times but both she and Cynthia really do know what they are doing and have over 40 years experience between the two of them. If they do not know the answer to a question, they will do their best to find it for you. They have a great selection of supplies and good prices. I highly recommend them for all the classes they offer as well as a good place to get your supplies. more

AMAZING STORE AND PEOPLE 6/13/2012

Amazing Classes and Cake supplies\r I started doing cake a couple years ago looked everywhere for classes that would teach me what I was looking for. Well I found it and i love it. I have taken 5 of the classes and both instructors have been AMAZING. Sure if you are the one with the bad attitude and think you know it all then you will not like these classes. They are hands on and you learn everything. I have taken the big store classes and they do not compare to what I am learning at The Cake Craft Shoppe. \r \r I have been impressed with the selection of supplies and how helpful everyone is. My instructors help me in the store and the employees know what we are looking for. They are not the cheapest on every item but where can you go and get everything you need. \r \r I cannot wait to start the second professional course. more

Sheila is the worst teacher ever!!! 12/6/2011

I took PME piping class. Sheila wasted all the time talking about her experience but she has no skills what so ever. Every technique she tried to teach she was unable to do and then she blamed it on her bad back and hands. the week long PME course could have been done in a day if she knew how to teach or if she was organized. She thinks she is very experienced and has good skills but she is worse than even beginners. She probably have experience in selling cake supplies which BTW she doesn't have any compare to other stores in Houston. She likes to think she knows all the celebrity chefs and is friends with them but she is just not good. she should just run the store and have somebody else teach the class. more

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF SIGNING UP FOR ONE OF THE ""PROFESSIONAL"" CLASSES, YOU MAY WANT TO THINK AGAIN.\r I read the negative reviews right after i signed up for the class, but thought that maybe the people were just bitter and that I would just get what I could get out of the class. \r I'm a professional pastry chef from one of the top culinary schools in the country and wanted to brush up on my fondant skills since it's been a while. I found the ""Professional"" Fondant class online and thought it would be perfect. When you sign up it says that all students will be sent a ""supply list"" of items that students will have to bring with them. So I thought, like culinary school, or other ""professional"" classes I've known of over the years that I would be required to bring my basic tools while the main materials to complete the course would be provided by CakeCrafteShoppe--THINK AGAIN, BATMAN! I called the week before the class to have the list sent to me and was sent a ""supply list"" of more than 50 items, including colors, fondant and textured rolling pins (one with basketweave on it, for goodness sakes!) --things that I will never use again and that should be provided by the place offering the class. I called to ask if I just didn't bring some of the items and just observed could I still take the class and was told that the instructor wouldn't allow it. Got a refund! I suppose this is her business and this instructor can run her school however she wishes, but it sure isn't professional. more

Positively Cakes 5/22/2010

I have been coming into this store for a long time now, and there is never a moment where the staff members are unfriendly or unhelpful. They staff always encourage questions and offer solutions to an array of cake decorating problems. \r \r The owner and manager are wonderful people to know and are always looking to spread the joyous and fun spirit that the cake world has revolved around for so many years. They truly bring me back to a time where decorating cakes was an enjoyable task rather than a chore.\r \r I want to thank the Cake Craft Shoppe for being an amazing place to stimulate positivity and learning. Remember: you only get out of something that which you put into it. more

To put it simply...this is a GREAT store! 5/21/2009

I have been coming to this store for about a year now. Every time I come in, I am welcomed by someone on the staff. If I have a question, everyone is helpful and knows exactly what I need. They have a great selection to choose from in pans, cutters, etc. I am taking a class right now, taught by Sheila Brooks, owner of the store. She has been great! She's teaching us not only ways to decorate a cake and the different techniques, but also about running our own bakery. We've had some very good discussions. She's funny and gets along with everyone in the class. She will go out of her way to show us things that are not part of that day's curriculum. You only have to ask. She also helps individually for those that are having a bit of difficulty on a certain task. She watches everything we do and walks around the room to look at our work and give suggestions when it's warranted. I plan on taking the next 2 classes to get a PME Master's Certificate and I would not want anyone else teaching these classes! Sheila has a wealth of experience for people to draw on and is more than willing to share information. She shows different methods without the ""my way is better"" attitude that a lot of people seem to have. She doesn't claim to know it all or to be the best cake decorator that God created. She is sincerely interested in helping us better our abilities. I highly recommend her classes to cake decorators of any level!!! Pros: very friendly staff, knowledgeable instructor /owner Cons: it's a long drive from Spring, TX!!! more

Great Customer Service with OK product selection 3/23/2009

I agree that the prices are a little on the high side but not that bad. They have a decent amount of product to select from. They definitely try to carry, I think, the more popular items. \r \r My main thing with them is they are very knowledgeable about their products and VERY willing to help you find what you need.\r \r I haven't taken any of the classes but I have a friend who has and enjoyed them AND has went back for more! more

Great if you're in the area 2/5/2009

I found this shop by accident while on my way to a doctor's appointment in Sugar Land. Nice selection of cookie cutters, gumpaste/fondant supplies, bags, tips, soft gel colors, flavorings, pans and cake boards. I have not taken a class, so I cannot comment on that. I do wish there was more room in the store, however, for a better supply of boxes (I can never find the right size I need anywhere). I've shopped a handful of times there and gotten excellent help when needing to find something specific. I cannot get the bottles of soft gel colors around my area, and I don't like paying outrageous shipping costs from certain internet shops, so it's nice to know that if I'm headed toward Sugar Land anyway, I can stop in there and stock up. I like the prices on boards, colors and cookie cutters mostly. I won't take a regularly taught class there, just because I probably do know most of what they teach. I would like to attend a class taught by the 'star' decorators that make their way d more
