My husband and I went to Cafe Ragazzi last tuesday and enjoyed the food. I am pregnant so we like to play it safe and thought we would go there again two days later. We ordered a lobster bisque, chicken parmesan and veal scallops. About an hour later I started feeling horribly sick. Two hours later I threw up the entire dinner. It was horrible. I felt sick the entire evening. My husband was up half the night with stomach problems I won't describe to you, but he spent much of the night on the toilet. We went back to inform the management, but they said that they can't verify whether we are lying. This is an expensive place and they treat you liked some kind of scammer. I am pregnant and was very concerned about the food poisoning, but unfortunately they told my husband that it is their policy not to do much about it. Don't go there if you don't want to be throwing up after spending serious money on your dinner! more

Went in for a late night dinner earlier in the week. We were going to try another place down the street but they had a table at Cafe Ragazzi so we decided to give it a try. I had a great salad. The arugula was the best I've had in a while. very surprised. The rest of my dinner was good, but not great.\r I don't know if it's because of the holidays, but the service was mediocre. Not bad, but I expected more. more

the food was good but overpriced. I did not aske the price before I ordered the special - my mistake! $ 42.00 for a "osso boucco"? Not very special! Also - the place is very loud, the music is to loud with bad acoustic. Very hard to keep a conversation going. Tino / Chicago more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 5/23/2010

First, the food was pretty good, you should know that. HOWEVER, hopefully, you will not get the wait person we had ""serving"" us. From the beginning, she made it her business to ruin our evening out with our friends. Perhaps she had a bad hair day, or, possibly has a personality disorder. Either way, she should not be serving in a restaurant. This restaurant is far too expensive to have an emotionally unstable volatile person working for them. We concluded that she is related to the owner. Any other owner would not retain someone like this in their employ. Never again will we spend time there. Pros: Pretty good food - 6 or 7 out of 10 Cons: Rude wait person -- Female more

A great local N. Miami spot 4/16/2010

I always loved this place. I haven't been here in 3 years or so. I think they have new management. It dosen't matter. The ambiance is amazing. The menu selections are still great. The wine list is amazing and the service as always is consistent, professional and friendly. I had one of the best Osso Bucco items ever! We took some friends last weekend. Go enjoy yourself. These guys don't mess around. Pros: Solid Italian Food Cons: Loud place, who cares, have fun! more

From the moment you enter, you can feel the bad attitude of the manager, the waitress ( Maria ), even the one that brings the food to the table didn't know what was chicken and what was veal. the prices ar ridiculous. We miss the old owner and son. more

Visiting the Bal Harbour/Miami area a few summers ago I had the fortunate experience of stumbling upon Ragazzi. After chatting with a breathtakingly beautiful and kind hostess we sat down to dinner. The gorgonzola stuffed lamb shank was one of my most memorable and pleasurable dining experience of my life, so good we repeated the experience the next night! You must make a stop if you are in the area. more

I first visited a year ago and made several repeat visits as it was great! Unfortunately management, maitre d' have changed and my dinner there on Dec 17, 2007 was a real disappointment. Poor service, and food quality down. Don't plan to ever go again. Very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

I almost booked a flight this week just to eat at Ragazzi!! 8/10/2007

Ok, I never thought I would actually write one of these reviews but felt compelled after I saw the negative one posted on here about one of my favorite restaurants in the world. I'm fairly well traveled and have done my share (and a few others share) of dining out. Ragazii rates as one of my two favorite Italian restaurants ever visited. But I must be honest and admit that I have yet to travel to Italy. The staff is wonderful and the accents just add to the atmosphere. The food is incredible!! From the tomato/garlic/basil dipping bowl that you will start with, to the tiramisu you should finish with and everything in between. Although the wine list isn't extensive, there are enough good choices for those that appreciate good wine at a good value. I try to eat at this wonderful restaurant at least twice every trip down Miami/Bal Harbour, and would eat there at least once a week if I lived there. Miami/Ragazzi dreaming on a Friday afternoon!! Pros: Food, Food, Food...Staff, ambience...WEATHER!! Cons: 2000 miles away more

Avoid Ragazzi 8/27/2006

Ive been to Ragazzi Saturday... and dont understand what all the hype is about.\r The service was slow and untimely, however the manager was attentive and charming, the place is not at all cozy and the food was mediocre at its best, bland dishes with little taste and very greasy.\r After all I spent $145 in dinner for two, much more than a little neighborhood restaurant without an exciting location or decor might charge. Their wine selection is horrible and highly marked up. What a rip-off. If you are a tourist, save your money and stay away from this restaurant, Not worth it at all!!!!!!!!! Cons: food ambiance and service more

The Best in Town from the balsera. 6/5/2004

This is defintely the best restaurant ever. I go about 3/4 times a month. The Maitre D and the waiters are so generous. The food is excellent and the service is phenomenal. It'a very cozy place to go. You cannot beat the taste of each meal served with the kindness that one deserves. I recommend to anyone this place to everyone. Taste, variety, and service make this the hot spot of Surfside. Its worth to spend the gasoline going over there. Pros: Romantic, Friendliness, Excellent service more

Worth the wait 2/7/2004

Yes it's small. Yes you have to wait for a table generally. But you have to wait because everyone NOW knows what some us have known for quite some time that this gem has great food and friendly service at decent prices. Pros: Parking, service, food more

hotsy totsy ragazzi 1/13/2003

Excellent food, you get wine while you are waiting to be seated, they are generous with thier free wine, and spearkling water... Unfortunately it is difficult to get immediate seating. more
