Cafe Papillon is an undiscovered Marin County JEM! By day they serve breakfast and lunch with mouthwatering pastries (French and Persian) At night they serve classic Persian stews, juicy kabobs, and savory saffron rice. Their ""fesenjoon"" was a perfect, but not overwhelming, pomegranate and walnut sauce with chicken. For an appetizer, try the mint and feta cheese with lavash bread or their ""tadik,"" the crunchy rice at the bottom of the pot. This could be a main course in itself with a fabulous lentil-lamb sauce on top. Their ""zeresk"" polo, a tender and juicy chicken with saffron rice and barberries was absolutely delicious. Don't forget desert!! The persian ice cream (cardamom, rose water, pistachio) and the baklava (an interesting twist with cardamom instead of just walnuts and cinammon), were just amazing!
It's too bad that there were so few people in this one-year old restaurant because the food is wonderful.
Pros: Great ambience/music, Friendly service, Bakery=good desser
Cons: diff. park. sometimes, not enough diners!!
