Best

Cafe Bizou has been a favorite love of ours for many years. We find ourselves driving over the hill a few...

Worst

Have you ever heard of such a thing before? My husband and I made reservations at cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks for 7:30, but when we got there, we were kept waiting for nearly 40 mi...

Bad, rude service 8/13/2005

I used to love this restaurant, food is usually great, recently had a terrible experience. Made reservations way ahead of time (to impress my date), needles to say, got there on time and they made me wait for over 45 minutes... I saw other people who came after me sit before me (friends with hostess of course). Food was below average and my date was not impressed... Never coming back again... more

Great Food, Worst Customer Service Ever! 8/7/2005

If you want an enjoyable social dining experience with friends/family, do not come here! 7 of us had dinner here for my friend's birthday. The evening was ruined by the extremely poor customer service. First, our drinks were not brought in a timely manner (had to flag down the waitress to remind her) and the servers kept bringing us other diners' dishes. It took them 20+ minutes to pick up our bill, and then immediately afterwards while we were still trying to finish up our dessert/drinks and conversation (we only see these friends once a year), the Maitre D comes to our table and tells us that there are customers waiting and tells us that WE HAD TO LEAVE! I have never in my whole life experienced such rude customer service. Needless to say, we won't be returning again, which is a shame since the food was very good. Pros: Good Food Cons: Rude, Crowded, Slow service more

delicieux! 9/27/2004

we went to cafe bizou 3 times, and it's always a great experience. As a French person, I rarely eat at in French restaurants for fear of beeing disapointed (""I can do it at home!""), but cafe bizou is really really excellent. And the price is very reasonable (extra salad or soup for $1, where else can you find that?!) . I Hight recommend it! Pros: inexpensive, authentic French food more

To Bizou or not to Bizou 8/2/2004

Is there really a question? Never before have I seen so many people standing wall-to-wall waiting, armed with their own wines in brown paper bags. Corkage fee is one of the lowest out there, although to be honest the wine list is so reasonably priced why bother? And the food is wonderful. Though I've tasted many other dishes, I am totally unable to tear myself away from the potato crusted salmon served with spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes in a port and white wine sauce. I've likewise become a slave to their creme brulée. If you don't use the valet parking, parking in the area can be difficult. Waitservice and hostesses run the gamut from warm and friendly to bored and aloof. Prices are unbelievably fair. Pros: Excellent food, Reasonably priced Cons: , Often late more

Well worth the wait! 1/11/2004

On a last minute recommendation I made reservations for dinner Friday night. Luckily they were able to fit us in, but upon arrival we still had to wait. The initial entrance is confusing (the hostess sits nestled in a nook) and once inside you stand amongst dozens of people also waiting for their tables. The bar wasn't much better providing hardly any room to sit. The food was spectacular and the wait staff superior! The sauces for both our meals came on the side, and were amazing each in their own right -- they catered to each individual entree and accentuated the flavor leaving the mouth watering for more. Not a more affordable dinner for the ambiance or scrumptious food have I yet found in L.A. **Oh, and try to hold it and bring a moist towelette the bathrooms are far too small to cater to the number of patrons.** Pros: Romantic Ambiance, Affordable, Delicious food Cons: Crowded more

Very Good 12/28/2003

The place has a very nice ambience, very warm and comforting. The food is consistently excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Pros: Good Value, Relaxing Cons: Can get crowded more

When in the Valley... 7/11/2003

If you happen to be in the Valley, this is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. The service is very attentive and the food is relatively cheap for the amount and qaulity of food. You can add a soup or salad to any entree for $1 (yeah...thats cheap). Everything is well prepared and the staff is more than helpful. The menu offers something for everyone, from good dinner salads to hearty helpings of steak and pork chops. They also offer a pretty diverse alcohol menu with some really good beers and ports. It can get pretty crowded with a very distinct crowd though. I advice making reservations and being prepared to wait for a little while. Pros: price, service, food Cons: crowded, in the valley more

Great Local Place 6/12/2003

Busy, but pleasant. I tasted a special - lobster slip with tiger shrimp on mushroom and cheese risotto - and my fiance had the steak au poivre. Both were delectable, fresh, and well done. The creme brulee and the flourless chocolate cake were excellent, but what was surprisingly good was the french onion soup. more

cafe bizou is the best!!!! 10/29/2002

I insist on everyone getting the roasted chicken! The sauce is a balsamic vinergarette one. To die for! more

French without the attitude 10/3/2002

When I brought my boyfriend to a French restaurant for dinner, he was very hesitant, first of all, about the prices, secondly, about the small servings that French restaurants sometimes have, and thirdly, the notorious French service. He was amazed with Cafe Bizou, although I wasn't as I've always enjoyed the restaurant. The food was superb, and the portion size was excellent! The prices was extremely reasonably, and most of all, the service was the best I've had in ages. Try this restaurant and have a nice, relaxing evening. Pros: excellent food, great wine list, friendly service Cons: parking difficult, sometimes crowded, small beer selection more

Beautiful Bizou 8/8/2002

We arrived late on a Friday night and were lucky enough to get a fabulous table. The balsamic sauce is the best with warm bread. I had the vegetable plate - it was wonderful. Will definately go back to Bizou. more

Worth the Wait 5/22/2002

Even when you have a reservation, you'll have to wait for your table at Cafe Bizou. But the food is so good, the prices are so reasonable, and the flourless chocolate cake so delicious, you won't mind. You probably won't be too bothered by spotty service either, which is undoubtedly the result of too many tables and not enough staff. Definitely worthwhile, but it was much better before all of Los Angeles discovered it a few years ago. Pros: Food, Chocolate Cake, Great prices Cons: Crowded more

Great! But could be better. 5/20/2002

This is always a favorite location of mine for just about any special occasion. The food is top-notch and the service has never been bad. It's defintiely one of the best restaurants in the valley. I recommend the roast lamb, as it's what I usually get, but there's always a lot of good choices. The downside is the size of the restaurant and the parking. It can get a little cramped in there on the weekend, but to me that's a sign of a good restaurant. The streets are usually full so your best bet is the valet. Pros: consistently good, not too pricey Cons: can get cramped, hassle to park there more

Wow! 5/16/2002

What great food and service! I have been to both the Encino & Pasadena locations. I like the Pasadena one better... it's a better ambience. The food is delicious, service is curteous, portions are quite big... can't go wrong! I had a lobster pasta dish and it was unbelievable! more

Sometimes you have to wait 5/16/2002

for great food that offered at a great price. Yes, it's crowded, but only because it's a great value. more
