Good, home-made food 7/9/2010

This place is always the treat for me and my kids...the food is always good and obviously made by hand from scratch. Besides leaving feeling full and satisfied, I also leave with a minor dent in my wallet...typically, I spend about $20-$25 on the 3 of us, including dessert for the kids. I also like the Louisiana/Creole decor; matches the food that is served. The ONLY thing I am consistently disapointed in is the lousy service...ok, not 'lousy' per se, but the wait staff always seem and act rushed. For example on our last visit, the waitress was very nice, but seemed extremely rushed - on a midmorning Monday...not your normal busy time. It seemed as if anytime we need something we were interrupting her, and the hostess' very rarely greet you with a warm smile, just 'how many' with an unfriendly walk to your table. Food makes up for the service tho, and I definitely recommed this place to anyone looking for good, home made food. Pros: Made from scratch, home cooking Cons: Wait staff more

A Pleasant Surprise 7/12/2009

We could not agree on where to have lunch - so we chose a new place for us. It is on our list to return! Service was very nice, The seasonal offering of Seared Scallops with Asparagus Ravioli was excellent. My scallops were perfect. The tomato asiago cream sauce's flavors were well balanced and complimented the ravioli brilliantly. The Seafood Fettichini was just as delicious. We shared the Mimi's Mousse Ensemble for dessert. Chocolate, Lemon and Raspberry - all were very good. The lemon was more like a Creme but still light and tasty with the blueberries. The menu for breakfast looked quite interesting and we are eager to try that soon. Looking at the layout I expect it could get crowded but they appear to have ample comfortable waiting area. I highly recommend Mimi's. Pros: Service, Food more

Not the best place ever, but pretty darned good 1/23/2009

I have been to this Mimi's location several times, and they have never failed to disappoint. I have a tendency to critique the service that not only I receive, but that of the people around me. Every time I've been there, everyone has been exceptionally friendly and accommodating (and I have NEVER had a problem getting a high chair for my daughter). I have noticed, however, that people are people, regardless where you go. If you are exceptionally rude to the employees, you aren't likely to have the best experience of your life, but that's pretty much the same in any restaurant. Pros: The food is always good, and there is plenty of parking. Cons: It can get very crowded during peak times, avoid these times if you don't like crowds. more

RUDE RUDE RUDE 11/5/2008

So normally, I would sometimes get a breakfast with my 20-month-old son on days when he wasn't in daycare. This day we went to Mimi's in Aurora, even though I have been there before and their eggs were GROSS. I thought we'd get some pancakes or a sandwich because he wasn't feeling well. When I asked for a highchair next to our booth, the hostess said NO. So I asked the waiter, could we please have one, even if I pushed the highchair into the table so that it was NOT blocking ANYONE's way. He said I could and had a busboy bring it over. Just as the busboy was bringing it to the table, this totally rude and ugly hostess came over, got in my face and said ""I TOLD YOU WE CAN'T DO THAT. IF YOU PUT HIM HERE THINGS WILL FALL ON HIM AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THAT, ARE YOU??!?!"" This ugly troll said it so loud and obnoxiously that two tables turned around to watch. I asked the waiter to see a manager, and after 10 minutes she came over- and when I told her the story she just looked at me blankly and said ""Oh... sorry."" more

Best Breakfast/Brunch joint around ! 5/25/2008

I used to go here all the time in my home town (Las Vegas) with my girlfriends after a long night of drinking, and I am ecstatic that I found locations in Denver! The food is delicious, the best crab cake eggs benedict I've ever had. They also offer 3-egg omelets to die for and their orange juice is always fresh squeezed with a hint of lime, very refreshing way to start the day. Pros: Orange juice, muffins, crab cake eggs benedict ! Mmmm.. Cons: can get a bit crowded at times, but I've never waited over 15 min more
