Best

I have been eating here for about 3 years. They are close to my office and make great Greek dishes. Recently sliders have shown up on the menu and they are awesome! Great hummus...

Worst

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here one day after work after checking out the reviews on here and seeing the low-priced menu. We walked in and stood around for a while...

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/28/2013

I came about two times with friends and had a great time but I recently went last Friday 5/24/13 with my nephews and had a very bad experience. The waiter named Nikos was very rude to our group and the whole staff seemed to ignore our table, the food took way too long and our waiter hardly ever came by to ask us anything. I will not be returning to this place. They have lost my business and I will be telling my friends just to avoid it period. more

So this is where all the friendly people hide! 8/14/2011

Went with some friends last week for Hookah pipes & Belly Dancers ,It was the most pleasant experience I have encountered in a long time, the food, service, people, everything was great! I can't believe I had never been there before! I've told everybody I come in contact with they need to go! more

Love The Slidders! 4/26/2011

I have been eating here for about 3 years. They are close to my office and make great Greek dishes. Recently sliders have shown up on the menu and they are awesome! Great hummus too. This is a relaxed fun place where people tend to hang out and talk, so do not show up with a ""15 minutes or it's free"" attitude. more

Lazy, ignorant waitress & Lying Bartender 3/19/2011

Sucks for the following reasons: We took our own seats and waited patiently for 20 minutes before having to flag down our waitress (i use the term ""waitress"" very loosely, a trained monkey would have paid more attention) After taking our drink and food order, our waitress wanders off and starts bringing our drinks out one at a time. Our food actually came out in a semi-timely manner., MINUS one plate. Thinking our waitress would be back any minute with the forgotten plate we waited and waited....and waited. After several minutes of puzzled looks by us, she decided to come back to the table and see if we needed something. Our response was: YES, the plate you forgot for the person you do not see eating. She obviously had forgotten to put in the order. So she brings a salad and says the plate will be right out, another 20 minutes later we have to track the waitress down in the restaurant and ask her where the forgotten plate is. It was brought to the table about 5 minutes after that. There were 4 people in our party, they added 18% gratuity to the bill and we were told it was policy to do so for parties of 4 or more by the bartender. When we insisted to have it taken off because of the absolutely horrible service, we were met with much resistance. We were then surrendered to the manager who then tells us they are short handed and the girl is new. She also shared with us that the gratuity should NOT have been added, that they only do with with parties of 6 or more. The bartender insisted (not 3 minutes before) they do it with parties of 4 or more, so he lied 3 times to us. The food wasn't bad, which is a shame because the service was so terrible I will NEVER be going back there. more

Great Place for Food and Drinks 8/4/2010

I love this place. Their greek pizza is excellent and I love their long happy hours! It is a great place to go to relax on the patio with friends or even to get some work done with their free wi-fi. more

One of my favorite bars! 7/1/2010

I've read the bad reviews and have NEVER experienced any of their issues! Byzantio has always been a GREAT spot for grabbing a bite after work and enjoying their long and well priced happy hour drinks. The food is well-above normal bar food... the Mediterranean Chicken is amazing, and I swear I'm addicted to their fries! Plenty of parking, and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating so its great for groups and parties. I love introducing friends to this place as its always receives positive responses. The atmosphere is warm and laid back and the bartenders have always been friendly. Pros: great food, cheap drinks, cozy atmosphere more

Dried out patty 9/13/2009

This was our first time here , the bruger patty was dry and had no flavor. Pros: Fry OK Cons: Burger Dry more

Great food, drink, service and staff. 8/21/2009

I frequent Byzantio approximately 4 times a week for coffee, cocktails, food or just a great place to do work on my laptop. \r \r Daily drink specials are great.\r Awesome available parking.\r The bartenders are awesome!\r \r I cannot think of one drawback to the Byz. Pros: Parking, prices, service and atmosphere. Cons: None. more

Customer Service, not here! 7/29/2009

I joined a party of 6 plus friends here for hookah, food and drinks one night. Let me start with the table service--if you are looking for it here then try again. Second, our poor waiter was new and not being attended by someone to make sure he was doing everything correctly. Although he was attentive, he still got the ticket wrong after saying we could split checks since we had asked more than four times. Lastly, the owner missed customer service class at college because he was the rudest person I have ever encountered in the service industry. Besides arguing with my sister, who paid the bill after we were told ever so flippantly that even though the waiter said yes we would have to basically deal with it, he was just rude. All I know is I haven't returned there yet and I would have to be bound and gagged to return. People there are plenty other spots I would go to (Darband, Mary'z etc..) Cons: Too many to state more

Fantastic Greek Food, Drinks and Service!!! 7/20/2009

The food at Byzantio is unbelievable! They've expanded their menu offering the crispest fries and new Byz Burger (which has feta cheese melted on top) and is to die for! With a full bar that has a variety of options including non-alcoholic drinks, you can find something you enjoy hands down. I've had my birthday gathering here for two years in a row and love the atmosphere. It's great for my friends who smoke because they have an outside patio and seating available. A local DJ, bellydancers and hookah are all forms of entertainment they provide for the Houston community. It'll feel like your home away from home, trust me! Pros: Not greasy, large menu, great wait staff, near downtown Cons: Self-seating, order at the bar most of the time more

Horrible...will never return 6/22/2009

I have been Byzantio's plenty of times and the service is always mediocre at best, but it is the closest place to me with decent food, hookah and drinks. \r But visiting this place last week, I have never experienced service this bad anywhere I have ever been in Houston.\r Will never return... Pros: Food, Hookah, coffee, alcohol Cons: Worst service, worst management more

Great Souvlaki!! 1/23/2009

This was a place that we happened to try one day and have been there almost once a week since. It's a little hole in the wall that you wouldn't have thought to have food but it is good. It kind of has the coffee house feel but it's a bar. People go there to have a drink and talk or bring their computer and use the wifi connection. You should order your food at the bar and they'll bring it out to you. Don't expect restaurant style service as it is a bar. It's more easy going if you want a place to have a drink, have interesting conversation, and eat food that is better then your traditional bar food (and better then some restaurants). The souvlaki is excellent, so are the gyros (both the regular and the chicken), and I'm a fan of the Greek salad as well (yum). On a nice day it's great to sit out side on the patio. We've never been when it's crowded, but then, we are there during the afternoons or at the beginning of the week for dinner. Pros: Quiet, Souvlaki, Close to downtown more

Not the Best 8/4/2008

When we went it was very loud, too loud to carry on a conversation. We weren't impressed with the food which was a shame since our friend who is a regular raved about it. Cons: The food, the service and the noise more

Feed back on the last review.... BYZANTIOS IS A GREAT PLACE!! 7/27/2008

ok i would like to make a response to the last comment..... \r One thing about Byzantios is ITS NOT LIKE NIKO NIKOS>>>> and for a reason. You must have come on a very lite day. We serve on plastic plates for a reason the price point.. You might want to stop complaining on the bar and take a look at Niko Nikos again you DO GET STYROFOM plates there. I love Niko Nikos but THE BIZ is more cozy and and different. BY THE WAY OUR SLOVAKIA IS THE BEST IN HOUSTON! And we have waiters on more biz nights there is no harm in going to the bar and ordering your drinks or food. We bring it out to you and take care of you for your stay. \r I have been djing there for two years and if you want great drinks, a fun time, and wanna experience the taste of the Greek islands come on a Thursday for the Belly Dance show and bar dancing and Sat nights for our GREEK HOUSE PARTY>> \r Have a Hooka on the nice patio as well!! Pros: its all great!! Try the Frappe' Cons: can get a little crowded... more

Booo for Byzantio! 6/4/2008

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here one day after work after checking out the reviews on here and seeing the low-priced menu. We walked in and stood around for a while since no one greeted us. Finally grabbing a table, we sat around some more while trying to figure out if there was table service. My boyfriend then went up to the bar just in time to hear the two ladies behind it having a vivid discussion with lots of curse words although she apologized and gave him menus. After giving our order at the bar, the bartender brings us styrofoam plates and plastic dinnerware. We ordered a tzatziki with pita appetizer plate for $5 that came with 6 little triangles of pita and a side of tzatziki in a plastic container. I said, isn't this what you would usually get as a side for gyros? Ok, whatever. Then our order of gyros and souvlaki come on styrofoam plates. The souvlaki was $6 for 3 skewers and came with 3 pieces of french bread. These items tasted all right but the portions were just so small. It was such a disappointment coming to Byzantio and in then end we really just said, spend a little more and stick with Niko Niko's!! Pros: Probably fun as a bar at night Cons: Service is terrible, portions are small for the price more

Great ambience 12/15/2007

This Greek bar is classy without being overly pretentious. The decor is unlike most bars you'll find in town. Be sure to take a closer look at the photography on the walls -- it's really good.\r \r An earlier review of mine hinted at a recent bad experience, but hopefully that was just an off night, as this place has long been a favorite, especially on quieter nights (it can get very busy on belly dancer nights). more

You won't expect what you see!! 6/9/2007

I have been here off and on over the last couple of years. As far as service, I have no idea what that last review was talking about. The people there are very down to earth, and very friendly. I call it the ""one stop shop"" There is nothing you won't find here. Coffee, the best cappuccino!!!! The gyro sandwich is awesome!!\r I have been here for happy hour with friends and you are able to have conversations without screaming over loud music... I have seen big changes since the first time I came here and it definitely has found the right road to perfection. I highly recommend this place to all, choose your mood...you will find it here. Pros: Coffee, Food, Happy Hour, Patio, Parking more

Don't Bother 6/2/2007

Overweight girl with skinny eyebrows working the bar was incredibly rude. Save your money and go to a place where the servers are decent! Pros: ambiance, neighborhood Cons: Service more

Very nice 4/28/2007

I've gone to this place a couple of times and each time have been glad that I did. It's not a big place but on saturday night they had great greek and mediterranean music and dancing. There was no cover, plenty of free parking around, and drink prices were very reasonable. The customers there are also very down to earth and friendly unlike downtown clubs. I definitely will go back on weekends and feel good about bringing friends there. more

best belly dancing entertainment in town 11/20/2006

i've been to other places that has provided belly dancing as entertainment, but nothing compares to the hour-long belly dancing late at nite at this place. the crowd is totally into the festivities and some are encouraged to participate. thursday nite is the time to go to see all this ""debauchery"" and probably the most crowded out of all the other days of the week. the ambience is pleasant!: a small, quaint greek coffeehouse providing that cozy aura for a chill nite ... and probably one of the better treasure gems of houston. the food is decent ... the kitchen doesn't actually close until 10:30p ... the wine was sub-par and they have an extensive beer list. go here if you want something different and interesting to try in houston~!* Pros: belly dancing, ambience Cons: parking, crowded more
