Byrd's Barbecue is a small, old-fashioned BBQ joint which seats maybe 30. The pulled pork is tender, moist, smokey, with an excellent vinegar ,pepper sauce, that provides the right amount of heat. The pork sandwich is large, and with the white slaw, is a fine taste of Eastern NC BBQ. The hush puppies were crusty and not at all sweet, just right. I eat a great deal of BBQ (2 or 3 times a week) and the pork here is definitely in my top 5. Their fried chicken, fried okra, and pintos were also very good, the iced tea was sweet and the right strength, and the Brunswick Stew was full of the correct vegetables, and loaded with meat. Being the piggy that I am, I also tried their chili dog, which was worth it. They make their chili in house and it shows. If you love good NC BBQ and great sides, you can not miss with these young folks.
Pros: Great service
Cons: Small seating area.
