Buttermaid Bakery

Wonderful bakery, fresh natural ingredients. Prices reasonable given the fact that products are hand made, in small batches, using expensive, non-industrial ingredients.\r \r The sugar cookies look and taste the same as they did when I first remember eating them in the late 50's. They do look smaller though, but then that's probably because I'm much larger today! Wonderful memories, not quite the ""episode of the madeleine,"" but then I grew up in Youngstown not Paris.\r \r I really wrote this review to refute Rose Mundorffs. I checked Povitica Co's product and although it's probably adequate for what it is, it's your typical industrial food product using cheap industrial trans fat shortenings and most likely mass produced in large volume and frozen until shipping. Which is fine if you don't care what garbage you eat as long as you get the most volume for your buck . \r \r Me I can't eat many sweets anymore so when I do so I go for quality over quantity and am willing to pay a little more for the best. more

I actually wrote a review of their product on their website recently and gave them a high rating for the quality and taste of their nut roll. Unfortunately, I have to revise my rating because they have raised their prices to the point of being outrageous. I have found another company that makes the same kind of product for a lot less money called STRAWBERRY HILL POVITICA CO. They shape their nut rolls differently, but have the same flavor as what we used to bake at home. They do place the nutritional information on their pkgs, which Buttermaid Bakery did not do, and they make their nut rolls 2.5 lbs instead of 1.5 lbs like Buttermaid's product. I recently purchased a second order of 3 nut rolls and paid $59.95 for 7.5 lbs with free shipping. When I wanted to do the same at Buttermaid, they wanted to charge the same price for 4.5 lbs of their product. YET, Buttermaid had an eBay auction selling 1 nut roll for $29, and their website charging $32 for just one nut roll. When I contacted them about it, they responded, ""sorry you feel that way (about pricing)"". I am no longer buying from Buttermaid Bakery until they are able to be reasonable and competitive with their pricing policy. more
