LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! 9/25/2010

I initially visited the Buttercup because a friend of mine recommended them for wedding menu cards and programs. As soon as my mother and I entered the shop, we were warmly greeted and the staff made us to feel extremely welcomed. more

Weird/Stale Vibe 9/19/2010

Recently I visited The Buttercup to get an idea of whether or not I would prefer them for creating my wedding invitations. more

Good invitations as well as neat gifts 2/25/2010

I really like Buttercup and always buy my invitations from them. I usually buy the paper and print them myself, but if you want them to print for you, it's only around $1 more per invite. more

First in Charlotte for rude sales people 11/16/2009

Shopping for wedding invitations should be a positive experience. That is not what happened when I went to the Buttercup. I went upstairs to their invitation showroom and waited 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. There were 5 or 6 older ladies sitting around drinking tea and gossiping. Finally one of them called from the other side of the room, ""Did you want something?"" I responded, ""Yes, wedding invitations."" She pointed to the wall. She never got up and they continued to gossip. Obviously they had poor upbringing to be that rude. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Rude, rude salespeople more

Best Custom Invitation/Stationery Design in Charlotte 1/29/2009

I had the best experience at the Buttercup. The staff was so helpful and the graphic designers came up with a beautiful custom Save the Date for me. There is so much to choose from and I was excited to know that custom designs are available! I will definitely be shopping there again! Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, Lots of inventory, custom design service Cons: No website, but worth a visit anyways more

Invitations, Invitations and More Invitations and Stationary 1/5/2009

I can honestly say that I have only shopped at The Buttercup for invitations and stationary. I think they may have one of the largest selections of stationary and invitations in Charlotte, NC. I love the fact that you can find invitations for ANY occasions. In addition, they make shopping easy for you...they have invitations divided by occasion. The prices are great and they have good options for those that like to print their own invites and those who like to have them done by professionals. It is an all around great store. If you like Hallmark, you will love this store. Morever, it is in a wonderful part of Charlotte and the store itself exudes "charm". more

Great paper! 12/8/2008

I was referred here from ""Paper Twists"" because they didn't have what I needed. Both places were great. We found loads of paper on sale and Shannon was very helpful, as was another woman. They were super tolerant of our annoyance with one another and were helpful! I don't know about their printing, as I just got paper. Pros: papers, people Cons: a little cramped more

Not a good experience 4/16/2008

I went into the Buttercup to look for invitations, menu cards, programs, etc for my wedding. I sat down for a full 10 minutes before I was greeted, while the workers lounged around. I actually got up and got a binder myself. As I started to look through it, a worker came up and said she was going to need it in a minute. EXCUSE ME! I was the only customer in the store!!!!!!!!!! Finally, someone said hi and asked what I was looking for. I told her. She said ""I would really want Vera Wang"" and took my binder away and shoved the Vera Wang one in front of me. I didn't want Vera Wang - it's not the price - I just don't like her designs! After telling this to the woman over and over I became exasperated. Finally, I found one I liked and went up to the counter to ask a question. A worker, who was on a PERSONAL PHONE CALL behind the counter, actually held her finger up in my face and continued on with her conversation!!!!!!!! Pros: Good selection Cons: Rude staff more

Poor customer service 9/3/2006

I have ordered invitations from the Buttercup several times. Not anymore! I attempted to order shower invitations recently and had to proof the final product multiple times. In the end, they still weren't right. As a working woman, I don't have time to visit the Buttercup fifty times to make sure everything is centered and the font is consistent. Not to mention grammar! These are not difficult concepts. For the prices you pay and the way you are treated, it is better to take your business elsewhere. more

Get Your invitations elsewhere! 7/19/2006

While the Buttercup had a fantastic inventory, the quality of work and the level of customer service was well below average in my opinion. I ordered invitations and directional cards from the Buttercup and I could have not been more unhappy with the result and the process. I created the wording for the invites and cards and gave that to them when placing my order. This could not have been easier, but for some reason, it took three separate trips to the store to proof and re-proof the work. The first proof had a blatant spelling error and the second was not even centered. I was frustrated that the store actually called me in to proof work that was obviously incomplete. Each time, the staff could not have been ruder. more

Cute, independent shop 6/9/2006

This unique shop offers great children?s clothes. They have everything from shirts, shoes, to hats. They are located inside an old house, which makes for a different experience than chain stores and malls. The clothes are very unique too. A little pricier than mass-produced clothes, but well worth it. more

Awful service 3/14/2006

I went to The Buttercup recently to look for save-the-dates for my wedding and was honsetly angry when I left. The staff completely ignored me for at least 5 minutes at first (as if I was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman). I finally hounded an associate to help me, but she was clearly annoyed that I, a customer, would want her help. She simply gave me 1 binder to look through and then walked away. When I tracked her down again, she pointed out 2 cards that were exactly the opposite of what I told her I was looking for and then she disappeared again. I left and will never go back. Cons: Staff, Service more

One of My favorite places to shop while in town 11/9/2005

This is one of my favorite shops to stop in while visiting Charlotte. The store is located in a small house. Very cute decor. Lovely decorations inside. They have an awesome collection of childrens clothing as well as an awesome selection of childrens shoes. Well maintained and wonderful, friendly staff. PROS: Great selection of Children's shoes CONS: If you don't have good directions, you might miss it. more

Nice Gift Shop! 11/5/2005

The Buttercup is a very nice gift shop. They offer high quality items at reasonable prices. I often stop in to check out the Buttercup once a week to see the new items that have arrived. They often get new merchandise and it is nice to see what is new. They offer many nice gift ideas for you to choose from! more
