Butch's Sound & Vision

I was quite surprised to see the previous review. Butch has been in business for decades and knows this business well. I've stopped by 2-3 times a year for the past 5 years before making a purchase. Not once did I feel rushed or overlooked. Butch is a friendly man who is passionate for music, his products, and his customers. His wife, Kathy, is the bookkeeper and its unfair to expect her to discuss the equipment with customers ... this is high end audiophile hardware ... the ultimate toy store. Butch spends a lot of time with each and every customer discussing their needs, desires, budgets, and expectations. Once again, this is superb equipment so a healthy budget is desirable ... but not necessary. For example, he carries SONOS for the wireless iPod generation. High end equipment such as Rotel, NAD, B and W, Magnapan, and McIntosh equipment (and more) is stacked throughout the store. My passion is McIntosh equipment and Butch is a premium dealer per McIntosh Labs website. I'm listening to my new McIntosh MXA60 system with a B and W 610 XP subwoofer ... what a joy ... crystal clarity, warm, seductive sounds. As Butch spends time with each and every customer, its unfair to expect immediate service. This is a successful family owned and operated business ... they take pride in what they provide to their customers ... it's not just about a sale. I have lived in several states on the east coast and west coast and have bought over $50,000 of audiophile components in the past 10 years. \r At Butches Sound and Vision the owner and his associate (woman) are very eager to help you only if you are a uneducated audio customer and want to spend over 10K . If you walk in for a simple high end component like a cd player or receiver they are not interested in your business. I have given them the opportunity to sell me high end cd players, receivers, speakers three times in the past 3 years and each and every time they treat me like ""is that all you need"". I must say that I am 35 years old and do look young but it is sad that they dont see the benefits of developing a long term relationship. I also do not respect high end audio stores like Butch's that only want to sell their products at very high profit margins (Eg. McIntosh products) and bad mouth products that are clearly better at a lower price. \r \r May be if I had parked my 70K BMW in front of their store or mentioned that I was a CEO of a local company they would have not told me to wait for 30 minutes 3 different times. I do respect that they may be busy but do not appreciate waiting for 30 minutes while the lady socializes with her friends not even asking me to sit in a room or audition the components I am interested in. \r \r Want a professional store that treats you with respect, I recommend Letsmakemusic in Shadyside.
