FAbulous market. We were up there for a vacation and the fresh fish, steaks were excellent. They have a really cool line of seasonings too. Black Dog Rub and Feisty Fish Rub were the two we tried. We gave 5 as a hostess gift for our friends and they loved them too. more

Burritt's Fresh Markets is worth the drive....or have them ship it to you! 9/10/2009

I love the wonderful selection at burritt's- from the pates to the seafood! Not to mention they are one of the few places in Michigan that deal a wide array of Boar's head products which are the absolute best! They even shipped to my home in the U.P. Five out of five stars, can't wait to go back!! more

Yummy 5/18/2009

I always visit Burritt's when I return home for a family visit and vacation! Try the pate's and other dips. They are yummy! Just don't leave them in a family member's fridge when you return home! :-) more

Wonderful service and products! 4/20/2009

I am a loyal Burritt's customer. I love the service, knowledge (especially Sean's knowledge of wine/meat). I always get my meats and some produce that is in season from here. Have always been well taken care of and you can always, always taste the difference if you purchase from Burritt's! Meijer's and the rest just can not compare. for a $1 or $2 more that I would save, the taste overrides the savings. more

The market is amazing, there is so much more in that store that I anticipated. There is a great wine selection that is second to none in Traverse City and a great selection of local produce and locally produced foods like fresh salsa and hummus. I was throughly pleased with the level of service and knowledge. This place is a must see when visiting Traverse City. more

Burritts 11/5/2005

Walking into Burritt?s you instantly have the feel of a gourmet shop. The dcor is centered around unusual bottles of sauce or marinades and other delicacies. This meat market offers many specialty and special order meats. Customer service is always good, they are will to ice pack your purchases for longer trips and are extremely knowldgable about their products. Located on Front Street, they can be a little difficult to get in and out of, but parking is ample and they are worth the effort. While prices are significantly higher than the ?big supermarkets?, their fish always seem firmer and fresher and they usually have a wider selection of meat cuts and seafood. Offering special order items separates them from many groceries in the area. PROS: Selection CONS: Price more

Best Meat! 6/9/2005

I have never tasted meat so good in my entire life. I bought a few steaks at Burritts last week and they were so phenomenal that I cannot stop talking about them. They were tender and juicy, not to mention flavorful. Their prices are competitive and the quality is outstanding! more

  • Burritt's Fresh Markets have been in the retail business offering top quality meat, seafood, wine and specialty groceries for 23 years. In 1987, Ken and Kurt Burritt ventured to create a small corner butcher shop in Traverse City, Michigan. Ken had a background in restaurant management, and Kurt had worked in meat markets for years. They called their store Burritt's Meat Market. In just a short time, they found that their town was looking for more than a meat market - Traverse City needed a gourmet specialty store, so in 1988, the brothers expanded the store to include produce, groceries, beer, wine, and specialty products. By 1995, Kurt was ready to move on, to home school his two children and travel the country. Ken and his wife, Teri, took this time to reinvent the store and boost the supply of wines from around the world. 2002 brought even more changes to Burritt's, when Ken bought out the neighboring Carlson's Fish Market. He brought in more local products, enlarged the fish department, and changed the name of the store to fit the evolving philosophy of fresh, quality foods.
