My experiences are extremely positive. I am so happy to share them with you.
I had a thyroid condition which resulted in an elevated eyelid. I had eyelid surgery by another dr in the Lehigh Valley 6 years ago. The surgery did not produce the desired results. Additionally, I had so much bruising, swelling, and pain I was miserable. Realizing I would need surgery again, I was hopeless.
After several years, my eye became drier and more uncomfortable. It interfered with my sleep and work. I knew I needed to talk with a specialist about my treatment options.
This is a highly specialized procedure. There are a handful of doctors in a reasonable driving distance from the Lehigh Valley who can complete this specialized ocuplasty procedure.
I saw Dr. Bunin's office when I was in the Pond Road medical building visiting another office. I went online and did some research about her. She has impressive credentials!! I read some of the reviews on here, and I wanted to know more.
I scheduled an appointment. The office staff worked with my crazy schedule. As a teacher, I wanted to get the eyelid surgery done at least two weeks before I returned to work in August. I expected to need two weeks for bruising, swelling, pain, etc to subside.
So, I saw Dr. Bunin for the first time the first week of July. I saw her again about ten days later. She reviewed my former medical records, took photos, developed a plan of action, and then I had the surgery on July 27. It was well ahead of my time frame. Nicki helped handle the insurance company and surgery pre-op requirements. She was pleasant, efficient, and very accessible to me. I'm sure her job dealing with insurance companies is difficult and very busy at times, but she made me feel like I was the only case she was working on.
I realize this review is getting long, but I know if i would have read something like this I would have been less nervous about scheduling this surgery. I am a very nervous patient.
The morning of the surgery, I was very stressed. I knew I was in capable, artistic hands. Dr. Bunin was sooooooo compassionate. She is kind and caring. Her bedside manner was warm and empathetic before, during, and after the surgery.
Following the surgery, I had some pain when I was in the hospital, and the tylenol just didn't work. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sleep that night. I asked the nurse for a stronger pain medication. She told me she would page Dr. Bunin. Within a couple minutes, the nurse informed me we could leave and my prescription would be waiting at my home cvs by the time I got there in 20 minutes! Seriously! 20 minutes! Dr. Bunin and her staff's responsiveness to patient needs is excellent!
Dr. Bunin takes pride in her work, and monitors it closely. She got me in for early morning appointments following my surgery so she could watch how my eyelid responded to the surgery. When she first removed the patch to look at my eyelid the first time, she looked for a few seconds (which felt like forever to me), and said, ""it's perfect!"" Tears formed in my eyes as I looked for myself. Immediately I was shocked. There was no swelling and a couple millimeter bruise!! Literally, I could have taken the patch off and gone out in public three days after the surgery. I thought I would need much more time to recover because of my previous experience. (She did prescribe a vitamin and a cream prior to the surgery to help minimize the bruising.)
Needless to say, I am very happy with the results of the surgery.
Her staff is kind also. The nurses, technicians, and receptionists work together pleasantly and efficiently. They greet everyone who walks in the door warmly. It is a happy, warm office.
As a result of this experience I will absolutely use Dr. Bunin for services in the future. I've already referred a friend for Restalyn.
Thanks, Dr. Bunin! My only regret is I should have come to you sooner!!
Pros: pleasant, friendly, compassionate, competent, empathetic
