Finest Museum About the Old West 6/20/2006

A few days ago, I received a brochure from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and just had to write a review about it because it is one of the most fascinating museums I have experienced. Although Cody, Wyoming, may seem a bit out of the way, it's only about 50 miles from Yellowstone Park, so if you are traveling through the area, I would highly recommend a side trip here. The center is an amazing collection of artifacts and fine art, all related to the Wild West. Here you will immerse yourself in a world of wagons, pistols, and buffalo runs. The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is actually several museums: The Whitney Gallery of Western Art (great works by Frederick Remington and Charles Russell), the Plains Indian Museum, the Cody Firearms Museum, the Draper Museum of Natural History, and the McCracken Research Library. The complex houses a fascinating collection that will open your eyes to life as Buffalo Bill (probably the most famous American of his time) experienced it and to the glories and hardships of the Wild West. Don't miss this wonderful place. It's a great museum center for all kids, too. More information is available at www.bbhc.org. more
