Best

We have lived by Buddha's Belly for three years and had never been in--primarily because I was concerned that my husband, who has a pepper allergy, couldn't survive a place sure t...

Worst

Yikes. I ordered tuna tacos and fried rice, easy. The tacos were not at all appetizing and the tuna was very near going bad, yuck. Threw that out after 2 bites, not good enough fo...

Great food 6/11/2007

I'm still thinking about the Tuna Burger I had here on Saturday night. The food was great, and the waiter was very helpful and attentive. I definitely recommend Buddha's Belly. Pros: Great food, service Cons: parking more

Average Asian cuisine. 6/9/2007

Saturday's night at Buddha?s belly.... The service was good, the sitting was fast even without reservation and the food was OK, we had the tuna tartar which was a little bit dry, the black cod which was a little bit over-cooked and the Korean steak was just OK, the best thing was the green tea shrimp tempura salad which was one of the specials. Pros: Service, fast sitting Cons: Average food more

Go for lunch!! 6/6/2007

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place when we were walking from our hotel. We went around 3 and did not have to wait to be seated. The food was delicious I got the vegan tofu salad and my boyfriend got the Thai green curry chicken with jasmine rice. It was so good and the service was great and I would go back if I could! Pros: Great food, lunch service was fast! Cons: Seemed really busy at night! more

Yummy~! 6/6/2007

Good food, but very crowded and a little loud. Great for vegetarians and meat-lovers to dine together because of all the options. Lots of fun dishes to share. Pros: Food is good. Cons: a bit crowded and loud more

Pretty Good. 4/29/2007

This place was extremely crowded. We waited forever to be seated on a Saturday night and they do not take reservation. The portions are very small. I left hungry and so did my boyfriend. The food was pretty tasty, but nothing to die over. Pros: food was tasty, service was good Cons: long wait, noisy, small portions more

All in all a very good experience. 4/21/2007

Love the black cod dish here. The atmosphere is really nice and they tend to stay open a little later than most restaurants in the area, which is a big plus, for late diners. Servers are very friendly and helpful. All in all a very good experience. Pros: Good food and service. Open late. What more could you want. more

Best Asian Food in LA! 1/31/2007

This place rocks! A group of girlfriends and i tried Budda Belly for the first time and i must say it was amazing. It seemed like we ordered everything on the menu there was so much food. The Black Cod and Orange chicken were so tasteful and fresh it they were gone in seconds. The service was superb i'll tell ya our wine glasses never went empty our waiter was definitely on the ball that night. We are definitely going to recommend this place to all our friends. Don't forget to order the Ice cream yummmm! Pros: service, food was so good, great atmosphere more

Mediocre Food 12/14/2006

To be fair, i was only here once, but i was not impressed by the food. the flavoring on everything seemed a bit bland or off - although the menu offerings were enticing in concept, the execution lacked conviction. more

So yummy 11/13/2006

Such a big fan of Budhha's Belly. My absolute favorite is the ginger fried rice with sirloin and shrimp. Great flavors on everything. Loved the ahi tuna and even the sides are flavorul and zesty. Downside is, it can get really crowded really quickly. Parking can be a nightmare so valet is the best option. Service has always been very attentive. Pros: Great food, Good Service Cons: Parking, No reservations more

Outdoor seating is nice 11/2/2006

The salmon is always good here and I recommend sitting outside if you can. They have some fun martinis to try and there is a nice selection of entrees on the menu. The waiters have always been nice. more

good food, cute place 10/12/2006

very nice little place, good food more

BEST TOM YUM KOONG SOUP EVER!!!!! 10/8/2006

I first went to this restaurant with a friend of mine. We had the Tom Yum Goong Soup and I must say - if this is the ONLY reason you go - you must GO NOW! I went back two more times with her just for this soup. If you know where Magic Mountain is - then you know it's not a short distance to travel for a meal. But very much worth it. Pros: Food, Ambience, Parking Cons: Service more

Great Atmosphere, Great food! 9/18/2006

I ate here with a friend on a Sunday evening. Seating was very prompt and the service was attentive. We shared the Ahi Tuna Tartar which was very tasty and I had the Green curry. Just spicy enough to be interesting but still mild. The outdoor seating is very peaceful, you hardly know you are sitting right next to a busy street. I left stuffed and happy. Pros: Tasty food, great outdoor seating Cons: Lots of dishes with shrimp in them. Would like the option to leave the shrimp out! more

I will miss My Favorite! 8/31/2006

I am moving back to New York and will totally miss Buddha's Belly! I am a frequent diner there, and give it my best recommendation. Their food is heavenly and the prices are affordable, but the staff is truly outstanding. They're all so nice and helpful. As a photographer and former model, I have traveled extensively in Asia and find Buddha's Belly's food to be right on. Pros: great service, great price for the quality, delicious food Cons: they don't take reservations for less than 6 more

truly awful food, snotty host, but good servers and kid-freindly 8/30/2006

I'm not one to post reviews, but this place has awfule food, not sure how this got a 9.3 rating, let alone is on the best of list...people in Hollywood must not know Asian food. This was the first time in my life I had ever visited a restaurant where every dish (6 total, split among 4 people) was terrible...and I mean truly terrible, not just mediocre. The salmon special was tasteless, noodle dish was greasy, beef dish chewy and soft-shell crab dish smelled incredibly fishy, which is a tough thing to pull of when the crab is deep-fried! I ate there with my Vietnamese in-laws, and the food was so bland tasting to them, they were under the impression that the meal they had just eaten was at an American restaurant, and argued with me when I told them that ostensibly the food was ""Pan-Asian."" If even one of the dishes that I had that night had been half decent, I wouldn't bash this place, but I tasted everything, and it was all uniformly bad. Additionally, the hostess was a typical aspiring actress with an attitude who thought it was beneath her to have to seat people for dinner. The only positive element of the whole evening was that our server was pleasant and helpful, and that they are a kid-friendly place. ANy hole-in-the wall joint in Koreatown or Chinatown has this place beat by a mile. more

Nice little place in the heart of L.A. 7/27/2006

Came here on a Wedsnesday night and was able to get seated right away. The mostly Thai influenced menu is very varied and you seemingly couldn't go wrong with any choice for an entree. The Pad Thai is monstrous and has an interesting flavor, I had the green curry chicken which was up to par with curry dishes I've had elsewhere. And in my opinion, for the quality of food received, you cannot beat their prices. But as another user said, it did seem like they were understaffed as I could only identify 3 or 4 waiters which seemed underwhelming for such a busy restaurant. I'll definitely dine here again, it'd be a great place to take out-of-towners or hang out before hitting the bar scene. Pros: Versatile menu, location Cons: Impossible to get street parking, but valet turned out to be only 3.50 more

great place! 7/8/2006

This has got to be one of my favorite places in LA now. The ambiance is great - lively, energetic, but friendly, not snobbish. The food is amazing, and costs about half of what you'd expect to pay. A lot of ""pan-Asian"" places are really suspect because they can't seem to get anything quite right. Not the case at Buddha's Belly. They have a great mix of traditional and more Americanized Asian dishes, and everything I've had there so far has been well above average. The is a great place for just about any kind of occasion, except perhaps a business meeting. For a date, dinner with friends, a birthday, or just grabbing a quick meal by yourself (they have a counter/bar where you can sit), Buddha's Belly is A+! Pros: great food; very affordable; eclectic menu Cons: waitstaff overworked more

Good casual place for a date. 6/27/2006

Good atmosphere and a wide variety of Asian food. The Pad Thai was excellent, and the Japanese noodles impressed my Japanese girlfriend. Pros: Variety of food. Fun atmosphere. more

Great service and food EVERYTIME!! 6/18/2006

This is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food is reasonably priced, the staff is always courteous and friendly, and the ambient decor only adds more charm. Although all the appetizers are quite tasty my favorite is the albacore tuna rolls - they melt in your mouth! If you like spicy foods, the Tom Yum Thai ramen is absolutely amazing. It comes with a side of coconut milk sauce that you can add to your liking. The spicy peanut noodles and ginger fried rice also happen to be a couple of my favorites. In all honesty, whatever dish you order, you really can't go wrong. This restaurant also has outside seating under leafy shading so you can enjoy your meal outside as well. The only thing is that parking spots are limited so try to find a space on the side streets (some close for valet during the evening so lunch might be the best time to eat here). Pros: amazing food, great service, ambience Cons: limited parking more

Great Food & Service! 6/6/2006

I just went here for the first time yesterday - I live in the neighborhood and can't believe I haven't been here before! What a find! The food is really good and the prices are extremely reasonable. Now I know why it's so crowded. We started with the rock shrimp tempura and then I had the yakisoba noodles and my friend had the ahi tuna burger - everything was awesome. My friend wouldn't put his burger down, but I got to try his sweet potato fries and they were amazing. Pros: nice ambience, staff is hot Cons: can be crowded and loud more
