Best

After many visits to Buca de Beppo in Minneapolis and suffering through the long, sometimes miscalcutated, wait times we decided to try eating at the bar. This is the way to go a...

Worst

If you are looking to get a huge plate for cheap, this is a place to be. If you are looking for fine Italian dining, Bucca isnt your place as it isnt mine. All servings are huge...

Wonderful food, Great Atmosphere! 12/27/2002

Love the family style atmosphere. And the food is very good. I don't know what some of these reviewer ate, but everything I had was wonderful. Their olive oil is to die for!! This is a fabulous, family-style restaurant with great food and value. Recommended for groups to really take advantage of the family-style (big portions) meals. Pros: Great food, Fun atmosphere more

Buca is the BOMB!!!!! :) 12/21/2002

I have always found Buca to be a fun and invigorating establishment, no matter which location I have visited. The garlic mashed potatoes are like heaven on earth..........I have lived in Boston and NYC and I have definetly enjoyed some of the best Italian cusine that this country has to offer. Buca di Beppo, is the best by far.............. more

Buca could be better 12/17/2002

Go for the ambience, not the food. Great for big groups, otherwise skip this restaurant. Pros: Large Portions Cons: Average Tasting Food more

Rate it for what it is 12/4/2002

For those who comment that this is not authentic or does not taste like food in Italy, I think you are missing the point of Buca. This is a fun, loud, group friendly, reasonably priced restaurant selling the food that Italian immigrants that came to this country made in their kitchen or small family restaurants. This is coming from a member of an Italian family who ate this type of food growing up. I think you need to appreciate restaurants like this for what they are. Pros: atmosphere, value, freshness of food Cons: waiting, cramped dining room, waiting more

tacky and overcrowded 12/4/2002

While West Omahans go on and on about this place I found it tacky, dirty, and the staff rude. it shouldnt take 2 and a half hours to get a bowl of spaghetti and bread. As far as Italian chains go I would much rather go to Olive Garden. Cons: crowded, atmosphere, overpriced more

overrated 11/20/2002

The restaurant was too crowed, the food was only average and it's quite noisy Pros: ok food Cons: crowded, loud, average more

Not 'the best' in Italian 11/10/2002

Buca's is not "the best" when it comes to Italian food. The food is pretty good, and you will not walk away hungry, that is for certain! I LOVE the green beans! Silly, I know, but they are really good. I question the homemade factor of some of their dishes as one time when ordering the ravioli, it was not fully cooked and by that I mean it was still FROZEN inside; leading me to believe they get it all premade in a bag from elsewhere and boil it over the stove. Pros: Decent menu, Good food Cons: Busy, There is better! more

Buca is Fast Food Italian 11/3/2002

If you want REAL Italian...check out this little place called Buono Sera's in Champlin off of West River Road. They will also be opening another one in Stillwater. Pros: Ok Food, Accomodates Groups Cons: Loud and Noisy, Not a date restaurant, High Prices more

mama mia 10/22/2002

be careful what you all order-- portions are GIGANTIC!!! The wonderfully lumpy red-skinned garlic mashed potatoes are slathered in butter and tons of garlic-- they're the best I've ever had (Burnsville location) more

Food that will never dissapoint you. 10/8/2002

I would recomend this place for large groups and outgoing guests. Try reserving the Lazy Susan table (there's one for sure in the Eden Prairie location). It has the head of the pope in the center and is great for entertaining. I recommend trying their pizzas, which are very italian, and the clam pasta is a great choice with a little zest. Pros: Large Servings, Fun enviroment more

An insult to Italian food 10/2/2002

Give me a break! Best Italian food in the Twin Cities? This calls into question all of the ratings as far as I'm concerned. People who even rate this as authentic Italian food are once again confusing qauntity with any sort of quality. Having been in Italy several times, I'm still searching for that elusive restaurant that serves sauces by color (especially pink sauce). This is another hot dish travesty visited upon ethnic food. You want family style - go to Chino Latino - at least that's semi-original. more

EXCELLENT 9/18/2002

This is a great place for FAMILIES or GROUPS of people to go! Served in family style manor.. But Very Very good food overall!! more

overated!! 9/9/2002

This is so NOT italian food but typical midwestern, bland fare. Garlic mashed potatos? Go to Venice some day and see how often that's served! Most of the menu could be made by any novice cook. If your idea of Italian is Olive Garden, you'll love it here. Pros: filling Cons: bland, boring more

a great atmosphere! 9/6/2002

Buca's was such a great dining experience! The waitress'/hosts' were fabulous and the meal itself was outstanding to say the least. Pros: good parking, inexpensive Cons: crowded, loud more

Mass Market Italian 9/5/2002

Buca is consistently overrated by folks who simply don't recognize good Italian food. Cons: too noisy, too much food, mediocre quality more

Excellente! 9/2/2002

Love this place. One of the best places in the country to take a group of people for dinner. Watch out - everything is served family style, and the portions are incredibly large. Make sure you save room for dessert - the tiramisu is to die for! more

Buca in a can 8/29/2002

Buca may be a fun place, especially for large groups and usually satisfies an empty, but there is nothing special to their food. It's pre-prepared food. It's food for the masses. Pros: feeds a lot of people Cons: LOUD more

Buca di Beautiful!!! 8/22/2002

I went to Buca with a group from work, and it's an absolutely awesome event! The family style portions are huge, so go with a crew! The baked ravioli is great, the marsala is great, everything is great! Don't miss the house label chianti riserva!! Pros: Huge portions, Tastes great, Great chianti more

Buca-Simply the Best!! 8/20/2002

Walk in the door and see all the Italian memorabilia! Hear Frank Sinatra, Mario Lanza, and Al Martino on the muzak along with the customers singing along! Watch large plates of food pass you by! If you are with a big group, you probably got reservations for the Pope's table, one where you don't have to pass the food around, the pope does it for you! They now have meals for two people, but the restaurant really isn't for romance-it's for celebrating the Italian culture as you drink wine, eat garlic bread, the 1800 salad, Lemon Chicken, Eggplant Parmesan, and those GARLIC MASHED POTATOES. Loosen up by visiting the famous Buca restrooms and come back to the biggest cheesecake in town! If you haven't guessed it, BUCA is the best! Take-out availible also, but beware of waiting patrons stealing your food as you walk out the door. more

I love this place 8/1/2002

I love the food here...the Macaroni Rosa is wonderful. It's most fun with a large group that likes to drink wine. We've never been disappointed here. Good food, great service, fun atmosphere. Pros: Inexpensive, Service Cons: Crowded more
