Had the Egg Plant parm. The small was plenty for two. Can't remember what it was called but also had tomatoes with cheese and olive oil. Everything was very good. Server was outstanding. I Loved the pictures as some were very funny. I will go back! Pros: Great food, service and decor Cons: haven't been there enough to find out more

I made a reservation for four for 7 PM, I arrived a few minutes early and checked with the hostess to make sure they had my reservation, they did. When the rest of our party arrived I let the hostess know that we were all there and ready when our table was. We were seated shortly, well most of us were. We were taken to the farthest room from the front door, to a space that literally required the guests at the next table to stand to allow us room to get to one side of our table. Our table for four had three chairs, to which the seating hostess replied ?I will be right back with a chair for you?, when we left after 9 pm, yes it took that long for the meal, she or no one else on the staff had ever brought a chair. The guests at the table that had been put out to move for us gave us the spare from their table with a wish of good luck that our service was better than theirs had been, it wasn?t. We then waited 20 minutes for the first visit from our waiter by that time we had picked out our meal; we ordered the drinks, appetizer, and salad then. 20 more minutes when he came back with the drinks, that is 40 minutes from setting down to the worst table in the house, after having made a reservation, to get a drink, he rechecks our order making it obvious to me that it had not been placed with the kitchen. This was proven true later when all the food arrives with in 5 minutes of each other. Some of the other highlights include having to ask for a fourth set of silverware only to be told that the restaurant was out of knives. They were out of clean plates too, judging by the dirty dinner plates that were delivered to us, after we asked for them of course. Wasn't expecting a gourmet meal by any stretch but both me and my wife were disappointed with the taste of the food. Pros: Friendly service. Cons: Food was less than expected. more

This is good if you're dying for southern italian dishes and need someting close. I grew up near a 'little italy' and we have nothing even close in jax fl, but this comes as close as it gets. Bucca is a chain but tastes better than most chains i've been to. Pros: Good Southern Italian Food Cons: Somewhat pricey more

Ok, so I understand the debate over true Italian and not true Italian. Here are my feelings on that subject. Unless you are from the old country or your mom is just one generation away from it, are you really going to know what true Italian really tastes like? What I do know is that I have eaten at Buca's several times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. I have eaten at the one in Pittsburgh and the one in Jax and found the same service and quality. I may not know true Italian food, but I do know good food and that's what you will find at Buca's. I recommend you go with another couple and take advantage of the family style eating "Mix-n-Match" and have a great time. Pros: Consistently good food and service Cons: Have not found one yet, I'm sure you can if you look hard enough more

Went to Buca's for the second time with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We reserved the Passion Pit the night before since it looked interesting on the tour the last time through. She has been living in Jax for much longer than me and is a stallwort fan of Buca's. Pros: Great food, service, and atmosphere a perfect trifecta for Italian dining. Cons: Ensure a reservation is confirmed to avoid any mix ups. more

Of corse there's the big authenticity debate about every Italian restaurant, but Buca is a great place to have a wonderful meal with friends and family. All of you germophobes will need to avoid it during the dinner hours because everything is served Family Style which means you order an entree that serves 4-6 people and you "plate it" yourself. For those of you who love to try different things and get bored before you finish a meal, this is THE BEST place for you because you can have a small piece of chicken (parmesan, marsella, boulegnaise, etc) and a side of pasta and some eggplant or veal parmesan.
