We took our golden retriever, Sandy, to Dr. Smith for the first time last year when we moved here to retire. We were very impressed with the way he treated Sandy and us when he did her yearly checkup. Unfortunately, we had to take Sandy to see Dr. Smith a few weeks ago because she suddenly became ill-she was getting to be an old girl-14-I guess when you love your friend as much as we loved her, you think she will live forever! Anyway, Dr. Smith was so kind and sensitive and worked to try to hopefully give her more time. We took her on Friday and he gave us meds and instructions for her care and said he would call and check on her Saturday morning (his office is closed on weekends). He called Saturday and we felt she was doing a little better so he said he would call Sunday morning. He did and Sandy was not doing well so he had us come in immediately. He made sure he rechecked her blood levels and all the other tests required to verify her condition. After this, we knew she was very uncomfortable and we didn't want to ever cause her undue suffering so we had to put her down. Dr. Smith and his assistant were so compassionate and caring - we all cried when she calmly drew her last breath. \r
We have had many pets and have loved them all. We have also visited many vets in the past but we have never been comfortable with anyone more than Dr. Smith. We feel he went above and beyond to work with us to take care of our wonderful friend. We highly recommend him.
