Best

I feel your experience was unfortunately, certainly, but then again, isolated. My mother in law was in BMH for heart valve replacement--all rave reviews, start to finish. Yester...

like a car lot 9/4/2011

this hospital is like a car lot...they try and see how many tests they can tack on while they hold you hostage in the ER...then they do more tests when you finally get a room...once you get the room, unknown doctors crawl out of the woodwork like bedbugs to get their share of the insurance money pie...all the while the patient sits and waits and gets three different versions of what's wrong with them...and forget bedside manner...the doctors in this place think they are celebrities more

Disgusted 3/2/2011

My daughter who is bipolar adhd and impulsivity has a hormonal and chemical imbalance was recently admitted to Brynn Marr. First off we sat in the emergency room and waited 34 hours for a room for our daughter . Then once we got to the hospital they seemed very nice and concerned took our information and did a intake . I spent one hour relaying information to this lady assuming it would be used to help my daughter. They told me someone would be contacting me the next day . Needles to say I didn’t hear anything . when i went to visit her the next day she smelled like someone peed on her its was horrific. Needless to say wetting her pants when she’s angry is one of the problems i discussed with the nurse. when i asked to speak with someone . i was told they were in shift change .When i called that night to speak with a nurse I got a apology that’s this info wasn’t passed from the intake that she had these problems i was kind of upset . She was also hiding her underwear from the nurse because she didn’t want them to know. I also asked why i hadn’t been contacted and what was being done . the lady told me she was the night nurse and i would have to call back in the morning and speak to therapist well i did and i had to leave numerous messages and this lady never called me back. finally one day i demanded to sit on hold while they located here i was tired of the run around and her excuse was the number was wrong in the intake , even though every time i called i gave them my correct phone number. This does not end our list of problems id be here typing all day and they give you a limit on here . If your looking for help for your child it all boils down to this is not the place to take her.I just want others to know what’s going on there and to think about taking here out of town there the only local hospital in the area for children for this type of thing, so unless you want to drive a hour to two hours to Raleigh or somewhere else , to be honest its after my experience ill drive two hours more

Horrible ER Experience 12/13/2010

I just came back from the emergency room for an acute gout attack. I was taken to a room and greeted by a nurse. She left. For the next 15 minutes or so, no one came back to the room. Then a doctor assistant came in and asked standard questions. He said, I probably had an acute gout attack. Asked me to do X-ray. It was one in about 10 minutes. Back to the room and waited. Another 20 minutes were gone by and no one stopped by. I then waved to a person passing by for attention. He asked doctors. Someone came in and started to ask standard questions again. He once again said, it's probably a gout. He left without saying anything. Well, backed to wait. Another 10 minutes was gone. The assistant doc came back and said he was going to give me some medicine and let me out. In about 10 minutes, the nurse came back and apologized for all the delay because of other emergencies to take care of. She left and came back in about 10 minutes with 2 pills and 2 prescriptions. I took the pills. She asked me to go to pharmacy to get other medicines. I asked where the nearby store and she did not know. I said I need wheelchair to help me get the parking lot. She left to get a wheelchair. But I waited another 5-10 minutes and she backed with a chair. Left again and asked someone else to get the wheelchair. The whole process was totally disorganized, not showing any caring and being responsible. The doctor assistant is - Ryan Supplee more

Quite on the contrary 3/17/2009

I feel your experience was unfortunately, certainly, but then again, isolated. My mother in law was in BMH for heart valve replacement--all rave reviews, start to finish. Yesterday my husband had his cancerous prostate removed--and I am still marveling at the degree of top notch care, even down to those on a non-care giving level (volunteers). All caring, loving individuals who could not have been nicer or more professional. His surgeon is TOP DOC in his field (they are leaders in DaVinci Robotic surgery method) of urology; there was not one nurse, one orderly, no one who was not efficiently doing their job with attentiveness and a pleasant attitude. Even the valet parking attendant accommodated me after hours to get my car and leave it in a safe place for me, so I wouldn't have to go to a parking garage late at night in the pouring raid. So for me to read your review of misfortune makes me hope that others do not judge this excellent facility based on this rather odd and unique experience. more

"MURDER MOST FOUL" 3/3/2007

BEWARE!! If I wasn't there everyday and a practicing RN knowing what should and shouldn't have taken place, I would think this an episode of "Scrubs". A one hour, routine ELECTIVE surgery turns into a 9-day multi-doc collaborative murder, yes, I said murder!! The Docs which were few and far between, did not listen when given Pt.'s medical info that proved to be the beginning of "the end", then tried to cover their collective asses in the Patient chart. Some meds were ordered that would have worsened the condition if the Rn and I had not agreed that the med was an antihistamine, and not an antiemetic. I had to tell her the name of the medicine that was needed, There were a few RNs that were competent and caring, but many were brusque and in a rush ( I guess that's how bedsores developed from shearing forces in just 5 days) I could go on & on about malplaced NG tubes X 2 days, unit manager saying they could take care of that sick of a patient there when I asked to have her transferred to ICU. Problem is, she wasn't even sick when she was admitted. She was very self-sufficient, active, amiable, and happy. Unfortunately, that life ended too short in the wonderful world of Bryn Mawr Hospital!! If I were you, I'd stay away, stay FAR away. more

Good community resource 1/17/2006

I used Bryn Mawr hospital a resource for birthing classes prior to the birth of my child, even though I was not planning to deliver there. They offer several different classes in preparing for parenthood (birthing, breastfeeding, etc). They are reasonably priced, taught by qualified and interesting instructors, and I felt glad that I took advantage of the courses they offered, more
