Okay. Pricey. Not much to see/do 10/17/2005

If looking at statue after statue after statue crafted by mostly unknown artisans is your thing, you found the right place. If not for the convoys of school busses of local school children that fill this place daily, I doubt if it could stay in business. While it does have a variety of gardens for your walking pleasure, they are about as exciting as the statues. Skip this one when in Myrtle Beach more

Nice parklands 10/8/2005

Brookgreen Gardens is located off of Hwy 17 as you go from Charleston to Myrtle Beach, in Murrells Inlet, SC. The gardens are very expansive and have a large amount of statuary and other artwork. This is a grand place to spend the day as you travel up 17 North. Most of the sculptures are based on Greek and Roman mythology, so it would help if you brushed up on your ancient history to understand the significance of the various peices of artwork. During the Christmas season, they decorate the grounds with lights and such and it makes for a very interesting evening stroll. more

Very nice day trip out of Charleston 9/20/2005

Brookgreen Gardens is HUGE and in between Charleston and Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet There are many statues and other peices of artwork as well as amazing horticultural and wildlife as well. Plan to spend a day there just walking around and viewing things. I found the sculpture to be amazing. It helps if you have a basic knowledge of greek & roman mythology because that's what alot of the artwork is based off of more
