The New Historic Brook Forest Inn Owners Brought Everything The Old Owners Forgot. Excellent Customer Service, Food That Is To Die For and Amazing Prices! This Is The Best Place I Have Eaten At In A Long Long Time! more

Don't go here for a nice evening! 6/10/2011

Brought the out of town guests here for dinner for some local flavor and was nothing but embarrassed by our choice. Dinner took over 1.5 hours to be served and the food was lackluster at best. How do you serve an awful Cesear salad? Just give someone a plate of lettuce with about six croutons and a little dressing that was worse than Kraft. When I asked about some shredded Parmesan, I got a shaker for spaghetti handed to me instead of freshly grated Parmesan. I was truly horrified. Though the waitress was smiling and nice, she should have been apologizing and yelling at the owner. Outside, a group of local men were drunk and swearing loudly. Overall a very embarrassing experience. Don't go here for a nice evening. more

New Owners Bring New Life to Historic Inn 10/20/2010

The passion and vision the new owners have for the the historic inn is truly in place. We stayed there last weekend and found it to be a warm, clean, cozy, friendly place to eat and stay. The food was amazing and in big portions. There are large screens TVs abound through the bar for great football viewing. The staff was full of life and extremely friendly. The room was fantastic and we had never slept better. I would recommend this place for anyone that are looking for a warm inviting place to kick back and enjoy the Evergreen area. So out with the old reviews and in with the new. The new owners have done a great job of fixing all of the negative reviews from the past. more

BRUNCH IS AWFUL! 5/12/2008

We eat out 4 times a week and are Brunch regulars. Pros: Friendly Staff, Nice Location Cons: Food, Food, Food! - Bad, Bad, Bad more

Terrible customer service, overpriced, worst B&B I've stayed in 1/14/2008

On the morning of a holiday (01JAN08), the staff slept in and did not have any breakfast for guests. Cold crossiants and coffee were later available, but can't even begin to compare to the excellent breakfasts I've had at bed and breakfasts within the states and also in France, Germany, Austria, and the UK. Cons: poor customer service, rude staff, dirty rooms, no breakfast served more

Low class - female employee with no bra in tight white t-shirt dancing and drinking 10/1/2007

Marketed as a high quality place, it is nothing but low class. We were expecting high quality, but when we drove up, we saw a bar atmosphere with a huge Coors banner advertising pizza. We did not pay $190 a night for pizza and Coors beer. Our room was on the dirty side. There was debris on the floor along the base boards. The previous weekends wedding party favor was on the floor as well. The base boards in the bathroom looked dirty. The round cover that goes over the bolts of the toilet was off and on the floor. Something else was under the sink on the base board - I did not touch it. The windows were full of fingerprints. Cob webs were hanging from the building and visible from our sitting area of our room - a quick broom sweep would get rid of them. We could not really enjoy the sitting area looking at this filth. We did not have a blanket between the bedspread and sheet. Since bedspreads are not washed after every visit, this was gross. We do not know what bodily fluids are on the bedspread, so to cover up with it and touch it is kind of disgusting to us. Most hotels have a middle blanket just for this purpose. An employee was drinking and dancing with no bra on. This seriously offended myself and my husband. One does not go to a classy/high-quality Inn to see another women not wearing a bra. The continental breakfast was not good. Cheap bagels, limited items to eat for people with restricted diets were just a couple of our disappointments. The cream cheese was full-fat, we are on low cholesterol diets. No skim milk available, so I could not even have the cereal. Only fruit muffins. I personally do not like cooked fruit. Yogurt is also not my thing. So basically, all I ate or was able to eat was fruit. Once again, not the experience one expects when paying $190 per night more

Isabellas is gone- Brook forest inn is back 8/20/2007

Try it! 6/19/2007

I will say that I grew up in the area and have seen the Brook Forest Inn go through many changes. It is currently the best it has ever been. The inn is currently under new management (this happened very recently) so take previous bad reviews with a grain of salt. The building and business is owned by the Atencio family, as in John Atencio jewelry, and they have gone above and beyond to restore the bar, restaurant, and rooms to an elegant state. We go there a few times a month for dinner or even just to sit at the bar and have a martini. I have never been treated with anything other than a respectful and courteous manner. I love the ambiance of the Brook Forest Inn. It is mountain elegance that is comfortable without being over the top expensive like some of the restaurants in Evergreen. Seems like the last reviewer had a bad experience, but I will say it sounds like perhaps they read a lot into the situation too. All of the guest rooms are furnished differently which gives it a ""bed and breakfast"" feeling and everyone has a unique experience. And it IS haunted. Try this out before you strike it off your list. It is important to support local businesses before the whole town turns into Chilis and Sonic (Conifer anyone?) Pros: Ambiance, service more

Where's the food??? 5/14/2007

My husband wanted to treat me to an experience for Mother's Day '07& got us a baby sitter for the night...We live in the Conifer/Evergreen area& like to support local businesses when possible. We love fine dining, but don't get to do it often with young children. When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation at 6:24, we were seated rather quickly by someone stating she would do it even though she was 'off the clock'. This was very nice. The space was nicely decorated& there were 5 other tables also seated. The off-duty server got us menus, rather warm water(the other water glasses around us had ice)& left. She came back to inform us in an odd manner(she sat down at our table with us, made a sad looking face& bowed her head)that 'The chef has told me we have no more food.' She did this so strangely we thought she was making a rather bad joke. No joke folks...She took our menus& left. We then watched the table next to us get served their entrees. About 2min later, now 6:37, our server walked over with a bread basket& a smirk that she was trying to hide. We asked about this again. She stated the chef had been there since 8am& was not cooking any more. Mind you we had reservations& had given our number. We got up, watched salads get delivered to another table, went into the bar, restated this to the bartender& asked to speak with the manager& he politely left. We waited another 3min& the manager came over to say that there was no more food except veal(we both assume this is because veal is 1of the least sold items& offered in hopes we would just leave).Never any mention of 'We hope you return','Here is a raincheck for an appetizer on your next visit','Please let us buy you a drink for your trip out here'. My husband asked why they would take a reservation then not be able to serve us. The response was 'We should not have done that. Lesson learned.' As a mother, I occassionally wish I could say to my gilrs 'I'm done with work today. Goodnight.' Pros: Some Friendly Staff, Ambience Cons: No Food, No Customer Service, No Thought for the Customer more

European Country Inn Ambiance 5/28/2006

This historic, and reportedly haunted, country inn has had its ups and downs. This year is definately ""up"" with excellent food, reasonable ( but not cheap) prices, a good wine list and a relaxing mountain ambiance. This summer its live music Saturday nights in the adjacient lounge and Murder Mysteries on Fridays. Don't miss it. Pros: Good food, Good Wine, Casual Cons: Not pretenisous, Not glitsy more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! 4/9/2006

My two girlfriends and I went to Isabella's for my friend's birthday and we had a table fireside with fabulous service and absolutely mouth-watering food! The owner had put flowers on the table (a dozen rozens) especially for my friend's birthday and came over to talk to us to see how everything was. After dinner, we had a cognac in the lounge with the locals and it was so nice to get out of Denver and talk to people in Evergreen! Although the restaurant was busy, our server paid special attention to us and remembered all of our names! I cannot wait for creekside dining this summer. I highly recommend this place! Pros: romantic, great food, service Cons: drive more

Not Worth It! 10/11/2005

I live in the area, and used to visit Isabellas a couple times a year. October 2004 we went and decided it was mediocre and its too expensive to be mediocre. So we made no return visits until Oct 8, 2005. The four of us comprised 40% of the customers 10 total customers while we were there. Not surprisingly poor food and poor service kept this place empty on a beautiful Saturday night. I dont know what happened the last year (or so), but we wont be back! Pros: ambience Cons: food, service more

Do not go here on Valentine's Day!!! 9/18/2005

Isabella's had to be the worst restaurant that I have eaten at for Valentine's Day. First off, it took about 20 minutes for my date and I to be sat at our reserved table. Our table was crammed into a corner within touching distance of three other tables. Then after about 10 minutes, we were presented with the bread. The bread consisted of two loaf ends that we not even edible. The main dishes, of which there were only three, took about 45 minutes to be served and once again they were below average at best. I was astonished to even see the couple seated directly next to our table get up and leave right during the middle of their meal. This place is understaffed by teanagers that do not have a clue about providing quality customer service. Cons: Terrible Service, Terrible Food, Long Waits/Cluttered more

A great escape... 11/7/2004

I recently spent a few days at the Brook Forest Inn. It was a great escape. The overall atmosphere is enchanting! My room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The food and wine served at Isabella's was delicious! Geno Acetta and his staff provided quality service. I highly recommend a visit! T.K. more

Unforgettable 8/20/2004

Geno, owner and head chef, has managed to turn around one of the most beautiful Inns into THE most important visits of your trip to Evergreen, Boulder or Denver. Being from Philly, I fell in love with the Denver area on my visit to Colorado, but a night or two at the Brook Forest Inn has secured my love affair with Evergreen forever. Do not miss the opportunity if you are in the area. Pros: Romantic, Classy, Ex. Food & Service more

Don't Miss This One 6/7/2004

This restaurant is a real gem! With great food, a beautiful setting and delightful wait-staff, you cannot go wrong. Owner-chef Geno Accetta has made Isabella's a destination not to be missed. more

Wonderful anniversary spot 6/6/2004

My wife and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversay by visiting the Brook Forest Inn and Isabella's. I discovered it on City Search and was not disappointed. The inn was beautifully quaint with a very relaxes atmoshphere. We enjoyed all aspects of the inn, from having breakfast in our room to enjoying lemonade on the back patio overlooking the stream. Dinner was fabulous! The only comparison is actually dining in Italy. My wife was truly taken back to time spent in Europe. Pros: Quaint, Reasonably priced, Wonderful Staff more

WOW 5/11/2004

This restaurant is fabulous. The atmosphere, the food, the service, the setting are all above and beyond. Even my kids (12 and 13) loved it. I wish I had thought to arrange to stay in one of the beautiful rooms in the inn for the evening, but with sons and mother-in-law in tow, what would be the point. I had no idea such an idyllic place existed. Pros: Menu, Atmosphere, Variety more

Hidden surprise 4/29/2004

Had a lovely dinner and wonderful stay at the Inn. Tucked away in the woods - was a delightful surprise to stumble upon. We enjoyed ourselves and will return Pros: Great food, atmosphere more
