Broadway Animal Hospital

My dog has been going here since she was a pup. When Dr. Comas took over I decided to stay because she seemed good, however now that they "expanded" prices have been outrageous. I just went in for the shot clinic and tried to get some Heartguard, they told me they couldn't give the medication without an annual test (my dog has been on it since she was a pup). Never before have they required this - they said they were having a "special" this month and it's $70 (from $80) for the test (then you pay another $80 for the office visit). It sounded like a sales pitch and I told them I have a problem with this tactic. It's not for the animal, it's to line their pockets. While waiting for the shot clinic to start I called Myrtle Ave Vet - they charge $25 for the SAME test and no office visit (but I asked and they charge $50 for an office visit if I needed one). Wonderful staff and very good vets. Dr. Comas has been so caring and wonderful. Dr. Vincent - who was there for a short time - saved my cat's life when she had a very dangerous pancreatitis and Dr. Comas has helped manage her hyperthyroid disease successfully! Lucy has gained weight and is relaxed and happy and healthy - about a year after that terrible pancreatitis. thank you all! more

my dads kitty had ear cancer. the docs took real good care of her and she lived almost a yr after she was first diagnosed. she was dads kitty and he reaaly loved her as he is alone. she was the best company for him. the staff did all they could. he did all he could for her to the very end. after he said good bye to her the staff sent cards to him, sure made him feel good. he really misses her and was grateful for all they did for her. he will always be thankful to them for all they did for her. thanks a million for helping my dad! he will always love TC in his heart. more

I am the 3rd generation of my family to be born and raised in Humboldt County. I have never been to Broadway Animal Hospital before, but yesterday my dog's leg was bleeding "alot" when I came home from work. I called my regular vet, but they were closed and I got the machine. On the machine was the # for Broadway. So I called and thankfully they were open late. They got me right in, and I mean fast, red carpet service, and the hole 9 yards. Turns out my dog had cut through a couple of tendens and some viens. She went right in to get operated on and after she came out the doctor told me how things went then gave me the plan for her recovery, over the next 6 weeks. The hole thing took about 4 1/2 hours. I had been sitting in the lobby for 3 hours after the hospital closed thinking to my self were else in Humboldt County could I find this kind of service for a doctor to work late on a Friday night, for a person they didn't even know. Broadway animal hospital has a fantastic staff as well as a nice and clean hospital. Since Oct. 2008 the practice has been under new ownership and there are three doctors now. I would recommend to anyone. more

Just moved to the area and wanted to call around and get the situation on the animal hospitals here. What they don't know is that i am a Vet Tech from New York, so yes, i DO know what im talking about.\r The reseptionist and Vet gave me the run around. I called friday because the stray that i fell in love with already was ill and needed to be seen. They said that could see him but not until monday. Then I sent all day monday trying to trap him! i could not cage him by my appointment time so i called a head to let them know. I was told call back if i got him. About an hour later i got him cages and called them, then they said i could not bring him in that i would have to do it tomorrow. What the run around! NOT very helpful and i was being very polite and trying not to mess up their schedule. They told me to bring him in the next morning at 7:30 am. So i got up at 6 am and searched for him. didn't find him until 9:oo then i got him into a cage and called them. they said they couldn't se more

I worked at a hospital in the bay area and know what it costs for vaccs and tests and such. my first appointment here i spent 300 dollars and had to spend another 34 the next day because the vacss i told them NOT to give my pet that they GAVE ANYWAY caused her to get a near death fever. they couldnt ever give the meds to me to fix their mistake. \r \r its robbery. \r \r but if you have the money and you dont care that they dont listen, hey. perfect place for you. great locations and flexible hours. but i prefer my pet alive, thank you. more

I used to take my animals here before I moved to the other side of town. I always felt that my animals were being taken care of and that I was getting a good deal but from time to time I felt pressured to spend money I didn't feel was necessary. PROS: good location, professional staff CONS: I have felt pressure from the staff on multiple occasions more
