While I was visiting from Austin in 2010, my dog became ill. We went to an emergency clinic that night; the attending vet said it was a stomach virus & sent us home.\r
On a friend's recommendation, I saw Dr Henderson the next morning. He recognized the symptoms of an enlarged heart immediately and drained some fluid, which relieved my dog's distress.\r
Dr. Henderson gently explained that this would buy some time, maybe a little or maybe a lot, but if the problem returned we should consider euthanasia.\r
To reassure us that this was the best route, he took us in the back room and showed us how the tests were conducted, what the results showed, and answered all our questions.\r
I left with the impression that Dr. Henderson is really good at what he does, and that he cares about people as well as animals.\r
I'm now in OKC again (three years later), and called Dr. Henderson to thank him for his wise counsel and compassionate care. He convinced me it's time to get a new dog; I'm going by to talk
more
