Great for private parties! 4/28/2011

With my fiance turning 30 this year, I wanted to throw him a surprise party to celebrate. With Bridgid's being one of his favorite places in the city, they were definitely on my list of places to look into having a party there. The have a space upstairs that can be used for private parties. It's nothing too fancy, but it was perfect for what I was after. It has a few tables, a small tv, fireplace and it's own bar set up. Perfect for my guest list of about 30. Once I decided I definitely wanted to use the space, Dan (the manager there), helped me every step along the way. We started off meeting about 6 months out (because I'm type A and need every detail to be perfect) and Dan helped me create my idea of the perfect party for my fiance. He helped create a custom menu, custom draft list, and even helped me to decorate the space the way I wanted it. Every detail down to how I was going to get him upstairs was worked out with the staff at Brigid's. Melissa was in charge of running the party on the night of. She did an absolutely amazing job. She ran up and down the stairs a 100 times getting everyone drinks and she didn't even break a sweat. She kept me informed of where my tab was, made sure the music and room temperature was perfect, and helped to determine the perfect time to bring out the cake. The flow of the party was perfect. All in all everything was taken care of and handled wonderfully. Thank you Brigid's for making this party a wonderful 30th birthday surprise. more

Best place I've been to in a while 12/15/2009

I went to dinner her with my girlfriend and parents this past Saturday night and everyone had an absolutely fantastic time. My dad and I are good beer fanatics and thoroughly enjoyed their selection. They had a vertical tasting (albeit just two years) of both Troegs Mad Elf and a bourbon barrel ale by Founders. Both high gravity styles, two 5 oz glasses of 2008 and 2009 were only $5. I would expect to pay twice as much as that at other places. As far as the food, my mom and I got their lamb shepard's pie special which was perfect. My girlfriend got a bolognese dish I believe and my dad got fish and chips. They both were very pleased with their meal. I'm still thinking about how great a time we had and can't wait to go back, and that's coming from a critical person! Little dive-y pubs with a good beer selection and solid food are often the best places IMO and this is the creme of the crop in Philly as far as I'm concerned. Pros: Great beer, food, and prices more

WOW - GREAT FOOD! 5/1/2009

Terrific little place! - blues playing in the background when I was there a few weeks ago. the 3 of us in my group ordered 2 different entrees and we very impressed with the quality of the food. Very unpretentious, comfortable place. I will be back. Pros: the food is delicious! more

Great neighborhood bar 4/30/2008

Brigid's is thoroughly unpretentious without being a dive. The beer list is extensive and there is usually a good Belgian on tap. The menu is eclectic and changes regularly. Be sure to try the chicken fingers! Pros: Beer selection, chicken fingers more

Great Beer, Great Food, Great Atmosphere 3/5/2008

Bridgid's is great. The menu isn't huge, nor is it small. The beer list, however, is huge. Great beers and an always changing tap. From the Duvel to Chimay to Yuengling, it's all here. Beyond that, the food is just as good as the beer, and it's reasonably priced. It is small, but that's certainly part of the atmosphere, and the staff is always kind and friendly. You owe it to yourself to go here if you fancy good bear and good food. Pros: Great beer, great food. Cons: Parking can be a little hard to find in that area on weekends. more

Awesome restaurant 2/8/2008

The food is great here! I've been there a dozen times and was never disapointed. I love their duck breat with mango chutney, it's to die for! Pros: great food, great beer, great price Cons: off street parking more

Low Key, Not expensive! A Must Try - At least Once! 10/17/2007

Here's the deal. In the Art Museum neighborhood this is one of two places I LOVE to eat. The food isn't all that expensive. You won't go broke here. The beers are diverse (La Chouffe and Duvels among others). The food is fabulous and the service at worst is adequate. They have everything from Filet Mignon to Jalapeno Shrimp. I've never had a bad experience here! Looking for a good, low key meal in the neighborhood? Eat here! Pros: Not expensive, good food for the price!! Diverse beer and food menu. Cons: Nothing special as far as ambience - try to eat upstairs. more

One of the best kept secrets in Philly 11/5/2005

When I first found the place, I selfishly wished that no one else would ever discover it. I have been going to Bridgid's for years. It never disappoints. The food quality is very high, given that the prices are so reasonable. However, what they give with one hand, they take with the other, and you can easily (very easily!) spend far more on the bar tab than the food. But hey, they're in the upmarket beer world, and that's where they make their living, and they're entitled to that. No complaints from me on that score, and if you're a beer geek, you'll find stuff here that you probably won't find anywhere else. There is always something interesting on tap. Pros: Very inexpensive food, Great beer, Unpretentious more

Cozy and Delicious! 2/6/2005

The food was great, service was friendly and knowledgable, prices very reasonable. A little noisy but we could still hear the music, a little crowded but everyone was friendly. This was recommended by a friend of a friend and we will definitely go back! Pros: huge beer menu, great staff! Cons: on street parking more

Highly Recommended 10/19/2003

It is a great place to dine and not to expensive unless you order drinks. I recommend ordering frambioza (the 10 dollar beer I call it). Service was excellent, food was amazing, dessert was great too. However, it can be extremely crowded at some point. It is unfortunate that they don't take reservations. Pros: Food, Service, Inexpensive Cons: No Reservation more

A Great Restaurant and Bar 2/20/2003

I live about a block and a half from Bridgid's, and I visit quite often, but not just because it is so convienient. I really like it because the food is very good and very reasonably priced (the highest priced entree is $12.00). The staff is very efficient and friendly. And they have a great selection of tasty Belgian beer. (Your bar tab will be bigger than your food bill...trust me!) A True Story: My friends and I went to Zanzibar Blue for a birthday dinner and paid $30 for horribly prepared Filet. A week later, we visited Brigid's and had their magnificent Filet Roquefort for $12.00! Other good menu items include Salmon Dijon, Tilipia with Crabmeat, and the wonderful Carrot Soup (when they serve it). Another plus is the Restaurant and the Bar are non-smoking. The few smokers don't seem to mind. They just step outside. Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Belgian Beer Cons: No reservations taken, The bar is cramped, Noisy more

Highly Recommended 1/17/2003

Bridgid's is our favorite restaurant/bar. We highly recommend it to all of our friends! Pros: Unique, Interesting Beer, Great Food more

My favorite 10/14/2002

I've only lived in Philly for a year, yet I been to Brigid's three times and never have I been disappointed. I won't waste your time describing what we had because they have a revolving menu. There is always something new and good. (However, if they have Jalapeno Shrimp as an appetizer-GET IT!!). Last but not least this restaurant won't break your wallet either. Very quality, cheap eats. As a service to yourself, check out Brigid's Pros: Food, Beer more

Brigid's is AMAZING! 8/16/2002

My nephew called at 6:45pm and asked if they could seat 7 of us and they said no problem. We arrived at 7:00 and we entered a very quaint bar and eatery. We were seated upstairs and the waiter approached us with a menu on a blackboard of at least 6 items per price range with the highest being 14.00 and the lowest was 4.50. I ordered the crab cakes and they were absolutely delicious. Besides the crab cakes there was a salad with a wonderful dressing, vegetables that even my two nephews ate(They never eat veggies) and mashed potatoes. It was so filling, so tasty and so low priced I was amazed. My compliments to the chef!!! Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Need better AC more
