I initially learned of Brickyard kennel from their ad in the phone book which advertises: "All day play, snooze the night away." Like another reviewer on here, I was pleased with the website full of pictures of happy dogs running around playing in what looks like a clean, well-lit facility. I went in with my German Shepherd and asked for a tour. The receptionist was not exactly warm, but the manager named Heather was very nice and showed me the back. It turns out the website's pictures are of the training room, which turned out to be the only clean room of the building that I saw. First of all, the temperature where the dogs are kept is not controlled. In the groomery there was an old blonde woman yelling at the dog she was grooming, such as "Think about what you're doing." It's a dog, lady, it has no idea what you're saying. There are two smaller rooms of kennels and private suites that seemed nice, but then there are the two very large rooms, where the majority of the dogs are kept. They are dark, noisy, and holy hell dirty. My German is normally fearless, but this place had him foaming in the mouth with nervousness. The real dealbreaker was when I learned that the daycare is keeping the dog kenneled all day. The joyful playing depicted on the website is only for an hour each day, and you have to pay extra for it. Talk about false advertising! No thank you!
