More than just a kennel! 5/6/2010

One of our dogs has been going to see her buddy Dave for 10 years - we wouldn't think of taking them anywhere else!! Dave has always been wonderful and loving with our dogs, suggesting nail trims, teeth cleaning, etc. He doesn't just board dogs, he truly takes care of themin a clean, secure environment! When one of our Goldens had cancer, he hand fed her! We can't believe that there is anyone in the area who would take better care of our dogs and we know that they are in a loving environment, having fun while we're out of town and wouldn't consider taking them anywhere but to Dave at Briarwood Kennels- he is a wonderful, caring man - especially when it comes to animals :-) Pros: wonderful, loving care for your pet more

To know Dave is to love him 4/14/2010

I have been taking my black lab, Cleo for a few years now. At first it was only for grooming, but after I got to know Dave he suggusted I take her by for exercise because she needed to loose 10 lbs. (I work 60 hours a week and live on a very busy street in Pembroke.) I will agree that he is an ""odd guy"" but I would not take her anywhere else. He has years of experience and has helped me with plenty of problems, offering solutions that even my vet had not suggested. Pros: very knowledgable, clean Cons: only takes cash or checks more

Wouldn't go anywhere else!!!! 4/14/2010

My family has brought our dogs to Briarwood Kennel for years. We have a German Shepard and a Mastiff of which some places refuse to board. Dave not only knows dogs, but treats them like family. I can trust that my dogs are safe when I leave them and I don't spend a fortune doing so. Pros: Clean kennels, great with dogs more

Well cared for Dogs 4/11/2010

Dave has been a very big part in our dogs lives. They look forward to going there and always return clean and happy. I would highly recommend Briarwood to anyone who wants their pet well cared for and looked after properly. There is no other place I would ever think of taking my guys. Bodi ,Sassi, Howie and Brian. Oh my goodness, I dropped my dog for nail service and Dave checked my dogs teeth Pros: personal service you can not find anywhere else Cons: None that I can find more

Misunderstood but wonderful with dogs 4/8/2010

I think the unhappy person writing the negative review has noticed that Dave just likes dogs a lot more than he likes people. At least this is my impression. I think its unfair to say his is not a great kennel. Pros: Dave loves and understands animals Cons: Brusque manner with humans more

Trip Saver 3/31/2010

Our dog sitter canceled out on us at the last moment and left us in a jam.We called all the local boarding kennels and everyone said they were full. I then called Briarwood Kennels in Hanover and spoke with Dave, I explained my predicament to him and and said that if I couldn't find a place to board our 2 labs we would be forced to cancel our trip. Dave said bring them here, I will make room for them. I found his boarding fees to be reasonable and our labs well cared for. Thanks Dave...? more

So unprofessional! Canceled reservation on Thanksgiving morning! 1/23/2009

I had made reservations to board my dog at Briarwood for the day on Thanksgiving day. I was going to visit family and didn't want to leave her alone all day. We made plans about 3 weeks in advance. He was going to charge me an increased fee of $50 for the day, since it was a holiday. He asked me a million questions about my dog (a golden retriever). He said that if her nails weren't too long and she didn't shed too much, he'd bring her into his home for the day and she could play with his golden retrievers & golden doodles. Great! more
