Delightful food 9/20/2007

I went to Brewer's Art with a group of 10 people to celebrate my birthday. The accommodations were easy for them, even at the tail end of restaurant week. We got in a little earlier than we would normally eat, and the service remained impeccable throughout the busy dinner hour. The food was really amazingly good, and their beer and drinks were great too. After dinner, we went down to the charmingly almost-divey bar. It was a blast! more

Exquisite food, laidback ambience, good brews 4/30/2007

The chef is awesome, from Kentucky, but like he read Larousse Gastronomie! Humongous selection of brews, all thats missing is Harpoon IPA and attentive waitstaff Pros: La cuisine Cons: Waitstaff more

Great place for drinks 10/31/2006

Brewer's Art is one of our favorite bars. It has great atmosphere, and an impressive beer selection. Besides their own brews, they have an extensive list of beers available from around the world. Its location makes it a perfect place to meet for drinks before or after eating at one of the many Mt. Vernon restaurants--or right there in their own dining room (although the food is only so-so). Try and snag one of the couches by the fire place, or head downstairs into the dimly lit basement, where it can be a bit smokey, but you will definitely feel you're in with the cool crowd. more

Great food and beer - too busy 9/23/2006

This place is incredibly crowded, but the long wait at the bar is tolerable only because the food and beer are both excellent. The vegetable sandwich is the best I've had during my weekend in Baltimore, and their fries are top-notch and addictive. The beer is good, solid Belgian style, some was high in alcohol. The service was good considering the large crowd of people, but I wouldn't say they were particularly friendly. Pros: Great food, decent prices Cons: Super crowded, uncomfortable during happy hour more

Great beer, so-so food 6/30/2006

I love to drink their beer, especially in the basement. But don't bother with the fine dining (amateurish at best). more

rosemary garlic fries! 9/9/2004

Never had ""rude"" service here, but it does get loud and crowded, so it can be a little slow. Downstairs is a little young (mostly 20's) for me, but upstairs is great. Haven't had a bad experience in several dozen visits over the years. Pros: great beer, fries, atmosphere more

BAD SERVICE good beer 8/19/2004

I agree with what some other people have said. The bartenders are rude. Go to Brewer's Art for the beer and atmosphere, not for the service. Pros: Beer, Food, Atmosphere more

Bad Taste in the Mouth 5/7/2004

Even though I have friends that recommend Brewer's Art, I have never had a pleasant experience. The bartenders are rude, ignore patrons and do not abide by ""the customer is always right"" rule whatsoever. I will not go back and I do not recommend it to anyone else. Cons: , Bad Service more

Resurrection! 11/6/2003

The upstairs at the BA is all class - a tastefully refinished Victorian-era rowhouse. The basement is where happy hour is best, with brick walls, low ceilings, and nooks of tables. It is fun in ways that places like Bohager's wishes they could be. The food is fabulous, but the reason to go is the BA's own brews. Cerberus - as in the triple-headed guard of Hades - has three times the alcohol of your regular beers, and wonderufl taste. Other offerings are ample and appeal to even the snootiest of beer snobs. The most popular, by far, is Resurrection - a dark golden brew that just begs for continual sipping, it is so fine and full-bodied. By far the best of Baltimore beer. Pros: atmosphere, their brews, the decor Cons: can be expensive more

Shhhh - don't tell anyone 8/6/2003

One of the best places in town. Couches, a fire place, 14 foot ceilings. The beer is excellent and cheap every night until 7 p.m. ($1.75 or so for double strength, microbrewed 16 oz beers). Downstairs is a rougher, people in black rathskellar. The food is great and changes daily. You rule, Brewer's Art. more

Brewer's Art 7/1/2003

It's a chill place to hang out with friends. Their drinks are pretty cheap, and their beer is their own special brew. All in all, a pretty fun place. Very low-key, but can get a little loud on the weekends. Also, it's gay-friendly. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Drinks, Chill Atmoshpere Cons: Tough to find parking, Not a dance club, Can get busy & loud more

wonderful beligan beer 1/26/2003

GREAT belgian style beer - the best the states have to offer.. downstairs is a warm dungeony type place, great ambiance, wonderful drinks, nice bartenders.. good food [pricey though, definitely NOT your average bar munchies though].. upstairs is a stylish and somewhat pricey restaurant.. great hangout spot downstairs, lovely romantic dinner spot upstairs Pros: high quality beer, great place Cons: expensive food, good luck parking more
