Finally a Real Plumber 9/25/2010

I had a pipe break on under my sink on a Sunday. Called George Brazil they were there in an hour. The Tech had the parts on the truck and we were up and running in two hours. The price seemed fair when you considered I tied up a truck and plumber for almost fpor hour from the time he left their office and returned. I know the part were not a big part of the bill but I expect to pay for the time a plumber is on my job including the travel time. I have have a number of plumbers work on my house over the years and Brazil is the best. more

Con artists 10/24/2009

Technician charged $383 for a thermocouple for our water heater, saying the replacement one we'd just received from the water heater company was defective. It was Friday night, and we'd already been without hot water for 3 days so we had no choice. On Monday, we learned that a thermocouple costs all of $11. The water heater company even faxed us a copy of its price list. Another plumber, plus online sites, also confirmed the average cost. We were advised to stop payment on our check, and we sent an amended check to cover the real price of the part plus the after hours labor -- in addition to a pair of new washing machine hoses the tech had conned us into and a ""discounted"" one year service contract that we're now not going to use. When they called in response, they tried to justify the inflated cost by saying the technician ""had to go to his truck to get the part."" It was parked right outside our garage! We stood our ground, and now they've sent a letter saying they suspended our second check and sent our first stop payment check to a collection agency. Just another example of a big company sticking it to the little guy. And the worst part is they accused us of ""planning to dispute the cost ahead of time""! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Other reviews say the same! Wish we'd seen them before we called! Cons: Price gouging more

If you need someone to show up right away, call them. Otherwise find someone, anyone, else. 5/27/2008

They were supposed to call 30 minutes prior to confirm but just showed up (on-time) instead. My mother's heating/cooling system was completely inop. Technician trouble-shot the system while I watched. He told me he needed replace the 24 volt transformer with another that was protected by a fuse. I pointed out that this one was protected by a fuse and maybe he should check the fuse. He did check it and it was bad. He didn't have that type in the truck. I was surprised that he wouldn't have a type of fuse that it used in literally tens of thousands of Rheem furnaces. I suggested temporarily jumpering around the fuse to see if everything else worked properly--he seemed quite reluctant to do so, attempting to baffle me with BS by telling me that there could be problems with the thermostat or air conditioner wiring which had caused the fuse to fail. I asked him how much the new transformer he wanted to install would be: $350! This would actually be $350 to buy a fuse holder with a good fuse. If the fuse didn't fail, there was no other problem with the system and I just wasted my money. Pros: See review--there are no Pros Cons: Way expensive, over-selling to and old woman, incompetent technician more

Extreme price gouging 9/8/2006

George Brazil came out when my air conditioning stopped working. Al;though they quickly and correctly diagnosed the problem, they wanted to charge me $560 to replace two airconditioning fuses and a filter. The price seemed high, so I took a risk. I paid them $100 for coming out, and I went to Home Depot and bought the parts myself. The fuses were $9 and the filter cost $15. It took me three minutes to install them ( and I'm definately not handy), and my system started working again. more

Rip off 6/25/2006

Charged 1400$ for a fan that didn't need replaced. Sold me a maintenance plan without talking to me about it. I had to argue with the company to stop the charge. Never again. more
