a piece of brazil in the corner of berkeley 3/15/2006

Brazil Cafe looks like it was plucked out of a village in Brazil and dropped on the corner of University and Walnut. I admit I've never been to Brazil, but based on pictures I've seen, I think my description's pretty acurate. Their sandwiches are extremely tasty...a bit on the pricey side, but they are definately filling. Their tri-tip sandwich is famous and their cilantro-garlic sauce is to die for. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water. This place is great! Only downside is the limited seating and you really can't "eat-in" on a rainy day. more

I think that this place is GREAT. The service Is great and the prices are great! I can’t believe that I didn’t come earlier! I love their surroundings because it’s so cool and I love the atmosphere! I think that if you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out! more

An unexpected Delight 7/1/2005

You’d never expect a restaurant that looks like a shack and is at the point where University Avenue empties into UC Berkeley could be so fantabulous. You can usually hear the Brazilian music from half a block away. It’s colorful and the hut offers the visitor topical colors, a seating area covered in fake grass and wonderful tri-tip (which the owner offers you a sample of just for standing around and looking). He does wonders with sandwiches, adding herbs that titillate the palate. more
