Branchburg Animal Hospital

Our dog was critically ill for 2 months. He was lethargic, not eating or drinking, pacing for hours at a time and then collapasing from exhaustion, he seemed confused, disorientated, at times not even able to stand on his own.\r Our vet put him on antibiotics, he got better for a few days and then regressed back again, even worse.\r This went on for weeks, sick-medicine-better-then sick again.\r At wits end we started searching the internet for some kind of answer. We can upon Dr. Derfuss.\r She talked to us for a 1/2 hour and agreed to see him. She examined & palpated every inch of his body, thoroughly examining him, x-rays, urinalysis, tested brain functions, reflects, hooked him up to IVs.\r Dr. Derfuss & her techs spent all afternoon with us, working professionally & compassionately.\r She prescribed meds, called to check on us in the following days, adjusting meds & giving advice, put herself on call 24-7.\r Dr. Derfuss litterally gave our dog a new life, she is a highly dedicated & c more

Sorry, no stars ........except for staff they get 5.\r I think that the staff does the best they can with limited actual in house doctor hours. High prices do not mean good care. Availability to actual face to face patient care by a doctor is key in total quality care. Good thing there are quailty trained staffers to cover the problems on days went Dr. is not present. more

Branchburg Animal Hospital is the best. Dr. Derfuss and her staff are all caring people, are always willing to go above and beyond. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else! more

I have been using this Vet since Karin opened her practice. We had just moved to the area and having had worked with vets for years, I was very impressed with her. She loves animals, and has cared for our dogs in sickness and in health. She goes to bat for the animals and has taken on the specialists when she feels they misdiagnosed the problem. She has saved us a lot of money. There are cheaper vets around, but Karin has been worth it for our family. more

When my cat got very ill and I thought it might die - I was able to get in touch with the vet over at the animal hospital - and she came in after hours to try to help my animal. Overpriced - yeah - slightly, but the service and compassion of the staff is amazing. Thanks Branchburg animal hospital! more

This "practice" deserves 5 X's, NO stars. They were shockingly unkind. They are money hungry and take shortcuts in caring for your pet. I seriously question their ethics. Notice how 2 perfect ratings just popped up in the last 2 months - odd... more

I was not only an employee - but I also had 3 pets that I took to see our Dr.'s. I worked at B.A.H. for 2 years. After relocating to a different part of the country and trying to continue in that field - I was disgusted with the way different hospitals practiced medicine and seemed to be in it just for the money. You may not understand it entirely if you are just a client sitting in the exam room - but trust me - your pet IS getting the best care at B.A.H.. And if you think the Dr. over on Rt.202 is good - I feel horrible for your pet. more

Been to many, many vets in the 20 years of having pets. This is by far the best hospital in every way. All of the staff are completely professional and friendly. The veterinarians take their time in explaining the symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments and will discuss all options. I admire their thoroughness. Because the lead veterinarian is so thorough, she saved my dog and improved the lives of our cats. I am so confident in their abilities and knowledge that even after moving an hour away, they are still our veterinarian. more

If there was a way to give 0 stars, I would- the people at this hospital are rude and do not care about animals at all. The doctor, receptionist, technicians all must be some of the rudest people I have ever met. I decided not to even let them touch my animal and left to find care elsewhere. more

We have three inside cats, so between vaccinations and the occasional escapee into the outside world, we make many trips to the vet. Branchburg Animal Hospital is the only place we'll go. They are very gentle with our cats, and they administer shots and medicines very professionally. \r They always listen to any concerns we have, and they are open to alternative treatments. One of our cats was having real trouble keeping food down and instead of antibiotics the doctor prescribed Chinese herb pills which cured the cat almost instantly. \r They are also willing to keep the cats for observation, cut their nails, and apply medicine which we are too nervous to do ourselves.\r It is a bit expensive, but the treatment is first class and our animals aren't afraid to go to the vet. more
