How could you possibly support this in humane treatment of these dogs? Have you actually seem the deplorable conditions in which they live??? They spend their entire lives on concrete floor, chain link cages with tin metal roofs. Temperatures get over 100 degrees in summer while Donna spends her days in her air conditioned manor!!!! You can get a cute beagle from your oval rescue. Please adopt, don't shop!!!! more

This place is such an amazing place that really helps you to be an efficient pet owner. The people in here really help improve the care that you are willing to give your pet. more

I just finished reading some of the negative reviews and I think they are all ""Breeder haters"" period. You can't win with these people, so they will just post negatives to any breeder. Bounds Beagles is far and above a quality breeder. We have had Huckleberry for 7 years now without a single medical issue. He is the BEST family dog I have ever owned. He loves snuggling with my two young boys. When we went to pick out our puppy, we were went back to see the moms and dads and all the puppies (including pictures of when they were only 2 weeks old). Very clean facility in which the dogs were allowed to go inside and outside on there own, which was awesome because Huck came to us practically house trained! We will be back when it is time for another addition to the family..no doubt!! more

I have one question for those people who have posted stating that they were ""shown the parents."" Did you actually walk back to the breeding area and see the rows of kennels or did ""Donna"" bring the parents out to see you? Wake up people! A reputable breeder that cares about animals (rather than making a buck) will only raise generations of one type of dog. Dogs used strictly for profit are kept in tiny cages for the entire time that they are useful. Many never see a vet, they sustain major injuries, lose their teeth due to poor nutrition. I do not understand why people continue to hand over large sums of money and not demand to know where the new member of their family came from. How about the fact that the money only perpetuates the crime of animal abuse and neglect. Demand to see where the parents are housed, demand to see the vet papers...even better, demand the vets contact info. ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!!!!! more

Donna is as sweet as she is professional and allowed us to see all the puppies and the parents. We spent a few hours with her and even came back the next day to pick Riley up. Donna gave us information on dog food, vitamins and was genuinely happy for Riley and us adopting him. Her office is filled with pictures of all the puppies and full grown dogs, she has had throughout the years. We are constantly stoped on the street with people asking us, wow what a beautiful puppy, where did you get him. Even the girls at Nordstroms said he was the most beautiful puppy they have ever seen, and it's true. We have met other couples at the Coronado doggie beach that have beagles, and guess what? The really good looking ones are from Bounds Beagles, always. We love Donna for all the hard work she does and we highly recommend her. Riley is happy and healthy and show dog quality...we Love our Puggle boy. more

I have been Reading these Reviews of Bounds Beagles and I don't think the Negative ones went to the Right Breeder... They must have gone to someone else... I have also Gotten a Beagle from Donna Oct. 2001, She will be 10 yrs old in Oct. and she is the most beautiful Beagle I have ever seen.. She is Very Sweet, Great with Kids and All Animals... We have revisited Donna's Facility on many occasions and found it to be just like it was when we first stepped foot onto the Property... The Dogs were in perfect condition and health... I spent several hours there visiting with pups and Adults and they were all GREAT...Our little Beagle was at the vets today and everyone was asking if she was a show Beagle and where we got her from and I left information for all to Contact Donna.... I don't know where you got your information, but it is VERY wrong... I don't think she would be so willing to have people come over whenever if she was running a puppy Mill... Puppy Mills usually have you make an appt. and only allow you into certain areas... Donna is very willing and eager to allow you to go where ever you would like.... more

I got my very 1st dog ever from Donna (Bounds Beagles) he was super cute as a puppy and has keep his cuteness even as an adult, he is almost 2 years old. We where so happy with Diesel that we went back to see Donna for our second puppy, Zero. Just as cute with an amaizing personality and patience with my 8 year old who does just about everything to them. Great family dogs, no health problems and they luv to cuddle and watch TV. I would highly recommend Bounds Beagles to all families with toddlers, kids, and big kids as well. Best thing was that they where trained to potty outside already, just a fast refresher is all it took. more

We got our beagle puppy from Bounds Beagles 1 year ago. We had a great experience with Donna. She let us visit our puppy every week, anytime we wanted, until our puppy was ready to go home. We seriously could not have gotten a better puppy. She is so cute, healthy, well behaved and full of personality. We get compliments on our puppy all the time. Bounds Beagles does seem to breed a lot of beagles, but the place is clean and the dogs look happy and healthy. more

I don't know why it took me so long to write a review. I agree with debbiedr. There is definitley something not right with bounds beagles. The owner also bragged to me about how her dogs bought her the house she lives in. I bought my dog from her which i shouldn't have. I didn't want to contribute to her business, but when i saw the poor guy i knew i had to spring him from this place. First off upon inspection of my dog he was infested with fleas. Second His coat was incredibly filthy and reeked of urine. Third the outside of his paws around the joints were raw and tender to the touch. My guess is because of the concrete and fence he would rub himself against. And don't get me started on his teeth. My heart just sank. Is this how you treat an animal that has bought you everything you have! It just seemed like no one paid any attention to him in years! When he was in the car he was incredibly scared everytime we passed under a bridge. He reminded me of a puppy but he was more than full grown. I figured that it was because he hadn't been outside in awhile other than the nasty dirt yard with a tire that they have for a free run. When i brought him home and bathed him he had feces caked all over his rear end. His ears were severely infected and swollen. He spent all night pawing at them when I cleaned and administered ear medication. I know I am not a professional vet nor a breeder but I know animal abuse when I see it. When you neglect your animals it is abuse. He just looked so tired from all the breeding he did. Please do not support this breeder like i did! Do not give them a dime! Our little guy is living the life he should have now. He is in good health besides the arthritis and is happy and free roaming! DO NOT SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS! ADOPT! ADOPT! ADOPT! I just purchased a dog from Ms. Bounds and I was able to look at the place and let me tell you that is very nice. The puppy is healthy and super cute and she gave me the registration papers the same moment that I picked up the puppy. If you are looking for a healthy cute dog go to the Beagle Ranch!!!!! more

I have two beagles from Bounds Beagles and to this day have never received any AKC papers after asking several times for them. I worked for Mrs. Bounds to pay off the balance of one of my dogs, and being that she wasn't AKC she had me take the dogs when she was only 5 weeks old, just to get her out of there. She wasn't making any real money on her and every time I went out there the price went up until I finally said I wasn't going to give her another dime. It's funny though that she claims this business of hers to profit $500.000.00 a year, and her and her husband are both retired. That's alot of money being made on dogs. No good breeder registers as many litters as she does. I saw on several occasions at least 50 puppies running around in the birthing area part of the kennel at one time. Also, ask to see up in back where they keep all the rest of their dogs. She puts up a good front. You'll be suprised, What is really sad is how she likes to brag about how her dogs paid for this humongous house she has just had built and is living in. Sound more like a puppy mill to me. No other breeders in this area would recommend buying any of her dogs. Who knows what happens to her poor dogs once she had finshed breeding them so many times to a point where they can't have any more puppies. There are alot of coyotes out in the canyons where she lives. Just be cautious and ask to see all her property and get documented family lineage from her if you happen to buy a dog from her. I would not recommend her or her dogs to anyone. She needs to be investigated and shut down is what this woman really needs. Pros: Birthing area is clean, but that is for show only Cons: Puppy Mill. I purchased my first beagle from Donna Bounds in 1998 and was happy with her training of the puppies. My beagle is now almost 11 years old and we?re now looking to add another beagle to our family. Last month I visited Donna at her establishment and was very satisfied with the quality of her facility. Donna is a quality breeder and makes sure that all her beagles are purchased to successful loving homes. I too am in the San Diego Beagle Brigade and the Doggie Social Hour (Meetup) and I have run into people who have dogs from Donna and the feedback has always been positive. I highly recommend this breeder. Pros: clealiness, quality, and healthy stock more
