I called to ask for an appointment for a physical exam. I explained that I had just left my job and didn't have the COBRA materials yet, but I offered to pay the office directly for the visit. The secretary said that would be insurance fraud, you have to wait until you finalize your coverage. I said what?!? I'm offering to pay directly, what's the problem with that? She said that's insurance fraud. I hung up and called another Dr. office in town and had no trouble making an appointment.
