I WENT HERE FOR MY FATHERS BIRTHDAY LAST MONTH AND IT IS A MUST!! THE RIBS WERE UNBELIEVABLE, THEY MELTED IN MY MOUTH, AND THE FISH FROM THE FISH FRY WAS SOME THE THE BEST IVE HAD AND IM NOT A BIG FISH EATER. SERVICE WAS VERY QUICK AND FRIENDLY. Terrible!!! I was in this place today. First off, its a dump! I ordered a full slab of ribs and a pulled porked sandwich to bring home and try with family. The pork was ok, not great. The ribs were over cooked, boiled, burnt and the BBQ sauce has onion strings in it....these are the worst ribs I have ever had in my entire life! For those of you that think this place has great food, get your taste buds checked. There are way better BBQ joints in the area. So I called to complain about the food and the person that answered or took the complaint said they have never had a complaint. She didn't apologize or even offer to let us give them a 2nd chance. I work in the industry, albeit the fine dining industry, and I would never treat a customer like this. I hope your restaurant closes! Avoid at all costs! Pros: Leaving this place is a huge PRO. after reading the other reviews decided to try this place and I have to say it was the best thing I did . I went with some people from work and everyone found something they liked . It wasn't hard to find at all just in a industrial part of the town but well worth it . Pros: good food , good service Cons: nothing but if i had to pick one the location more

I found this place by accident about 8 years ago. Since then, I have eaten there dozens of times. I no longer live in the Chicago area, but every time I come home once or twice a year, I make sure I stop at either Geno's East or King James. King James, has by far the best BBQ ribs I have ever tasted. They are big and meaty and not like the pathetic stuff you get from the chain restaurants like Chili's. Also, King James has the most amazingly tasty fries. I don't know how they do it, but their fries are the best I have ever tasted and I don't particularly eat fries often. It is true that this place is a little hard to find, but that's why it is a hidden gem!! Pros: great ribs and fries Cons: a little hard to find more

Don't give up on finding King James BBQ! Located in the middle of an industrial area, this ""north woods"" looking establishment is a great find. The staff and customers are ""down-to-earth"" real people. Warm, friendly and certainly not impressed with themselves. Try the pulled pork for a good sampling of the quality their BBQ entrees offer. Excellent flavor. They just DON'T slap on sauce and call BBQ! Their coleslaw is great, and the baked beans have flavor with a little extra kick too! Did we mention the fries? Crisp, warm and obviously done to order. The restaurant is cozy, the salad and soup bar are great, and the Friday Night Beer battered Haddock will make you come back for more. Finally . . . and try to keep this a secret from the staff....the prices for the beer and drinks are actually reasonable. King James BBQ is a real find.
