Great Stuff 4/26/2007

The only store where I could find a copy of '100 Years of Solitude" on the rack. I thought it was a classic? I guess Bookworks thought so too. Wound up with four other titles. Great prices.\r Parking lot in back was jammed up and it may be tough to find a street spot in this Wrigleyville locale.\r Been meaning to get here for years, sorry I waited. more

Great used book store 10/31/2005

Not great if you are looking for a specific book, but wonderful for spending an afternoon browsing the stacks. All books are in good or excellent condition and the price is half or less than the suggested retail. more

great bookstore 7/28/2005

I've gone to this bookstore for years, they have been in biz a long time. they have a wide variety of used and rare books, and this store is where i have found rare books that i have been wanting. the owner is nice and willing to help you find things. they also sell records and cd's there also. store is jammed packed with stuff...kinda hard to walk through, but it did'nt really bother me as i always find what i am looking for. more

Eclectic mix of books - Fair prices 6/16/2005

In charming Wrigleyville, this bookstore has reasonable prices on its fine collection of used books. In addition to a fair stock of classic fiction, they have a pretty good amount of non-fiction (philosophy, psychology, history). They also have a decent collection of records, particularly jazz & classical (both vinyl and CD). While it's not a warehouse of books & records, it has an impressive amount & quality given the small size of the store. PROS: nice selection, helpful staff CONS: Small store - no parking. more

Books that works -- Bookworks 12/22/2002

For several years now Bookworks has been my favorite small bookstore in the city. I like the intelligent selections and the deceptively large stock for such a small space. The latter is probably because they run the place as a store and not a museum of print, and don't fill the shelves with some of the junk other bookstores allow to pile up. And the kicker here is the steady flow of review copies and other "new" books available at remainder-like prices. That plus the store is well-lit, clean and has aisles wide enough to accomodate multiple browsers ... not your typical dusty-attic style used bookstore. Pros: Intelligent catalog, Wide selection, Excellent prices more

  • The Scene
As if influenced by proximity to its retail neighbors in Lakeview, Bookworks has the feel of a hip resale shop. The shop is well-lit, with floor-to-ceiling windows at the front...
