Very Disappointed 2/5/2011

We have been looking for a place to get good seafood and BooRay's was recommended several times by friends. We finally made the drive from Fort Worth this afternoon and were looking forward to it. Very disappointed. The "crispy fried catfish" was cornmeal coated and fried, but soft and soggy. The battered french fries tasted like those that you can buy in bulk bags from the frozen section of Sam's Wholesale. I'm not sure what they put in the green beans that come with every entree', but they are tasteless and swimming in a buttery-colored juice. On a positive note, the servers are very accomodating and polite and our server was always attentive. For the lack of variety on the menu and prices of the meals, we were disappointed in the food and the atmosphere. more

Boo Rays is well worth the trip. 11/10/2009

Boo Rays is very good and prices are great. Blackened talapis w/jalapeno creme sauce is wonderful. good cold beer and mixed drinks. burgers are humongous. Can be ordered w/grilled onions and/or jalapenos for no extra charge. try it out. Best food for many miles. Always had decent service there. But then I treat waiters with respect unlike too many so called experts and reviewers. more

I can agree on the lack of service 10/8/2009

The food was very good,we split the crabcakes and I had the Etouffee which was very good but not quite as good as Piccadilly's. My wife had the fried shrimp. The waitress was a young lady who was less than attentive. I ordered the crabcakes as an appetizer, she had a distant look in her eyes and did not write anything down. so 15 minutes go by and an older waitress comes out with a basket of fried pickles. Not what was ordered another 10 minutes go by and the crabcakes arrive very tasty. Problem was we have a special needs child 8 years old with the mental capabilities of a 2 year old who tumps over a glass of diet coke on the table and it starts running everywhere, wait staff just walk on by. Had to stop someone and ask for a tray and towel. Then had to ask for refills on drinks. The young waitress when she brings out the crabcakes tells me I was wrong and she heard me say pickles. I told her that not only did I say crabcakes but told her she looked like she did not get it the first time so I repeated it, obviousely it did not work. Again the food was good but the service was far from sellar. more

Awesome! 12/19/2008

I almost gave 5 stars!! The waitstaff keeps them from getting the 5th star!!! The food is amazing, the price is even great! The gumbo is the best this side of Louisiana!! We go often --- but, not often do we get a "good" waiter/waitress!! more

Real restaurant food in Parker County. 4/15/2006

I've heard that one of the owner's of Razzo's opened this Cajun restaurant in Weatherford and I'm inclined to believe it because the food can be soooo good. But scroll down to the bottom to read about the negatives. Boo-Rays is a big casual restuarant with concrete floors and a large bar area. It has a country feel although is decorated with lots of New Orelands/Mardi Gras knick knacks. Boo-Rays serves a good selection of fish - blackened, grilled, broiled with any number of sauces. I always get the decandent crawfish hollandaise sauce. Your plate comes with a huge serving of very good dirty rice and a dish of green beans. There is also a fabulous chicken fried steak on the menu that includes the best mashed potatoes and gravy you've every had. The prices are reasonable (fish dinner is around $11), and even better if you go at lunch! Here's what's wrong with Boo-Rays: very strange staff. The hostess are very "whatever", just out of high gals that act like you have interrupted them. The wait staff isn't that great, either - not as friendly as you expect and certainly not as attentive. Sometimes the irritation is worth it, but sometimes pulling into Sonic next door is just easier. more
