The Last Indian Restaurant You'll Try 1/27/2012

This is my favorite Indian restaurant... ever. I'm such a big fan, the owner recognizes my car when I pull up. It's a little hole in the wall and if going off of looks you would think it was horrible... you would also be wrong. Jay is so kind, he makes fantastic recommendations whether this is your first experience with Indian or if you are looking to try something new. I cannot get enough of the Chicken Tikka Masala and my boyfriend (who does not like anything other than burgers) asks if we can go there so he can have the Roganjosh. If you have the time try and go during lunch, their buffet is fantastic with a pleasant variety of choices. more

Amazing 1/6/2012

I've been to this restaurant at least four times, and every entree I have tried has been amazing. The service is very good, and the meal prices are similar to other Indian restaurants I have visited (in Dallas). Every order I have called in has been ready for pickup in less than a half hour, and have been piping hot and fresh. Plus, every plate is large enough for two meals. more

The is yummy and a very tasty surprise 1/5/2012

a friend recommended this Indian restaurant but didn't know where it was located so we had to find it thru our GPS and drove 30 min to get there ... At first glance inside we thought we got to the wrong address ,the restaurant was too small but the owner was very friendly .After we tried the food .... It was surprisingly yummy ,spicy, fresh and tasty .I don't think I'm going to try anymore Indian restaurants anymore .Bombay grill will be my favorite more

Where are you? This place is worth any drive! 8/13/2011

My family has been going here for several years, not only for the fantastic Indian food, but the great service from the owners, the Patels. They will make thoughtful recommendations if you are new to Indian food, and also season your dishes to your desired level of spiciness. Even my 4 year old loves it!!!!!! This is a well-kept secret in Pecan Grove! more

So GOOD 5/25/2011

This restaurant is spectacular. The food is amazing. It was very fresh and very good. I live in the neighborhood and was extremely pleased. There is only one other Indian restaurant in Houston I frequent which is located off of Kirby...and its not remotely comparable. GO! more

Delicious Indian Food! 2/25/2011

This small, family run Indian restaurant is a new addition to Pecan Grove. Small but tasty lunch buffet is reasonably priced--served with fresh naan and sizzling tandoori chicken freshly prepared for each guest to maintain tenderness. The dinner offerings are some of the best renditions I have had in the USA, UK or Australia. We have not dined-in for dinner, but we have had several takeout dinners. I can recommend everything we have tried thus far: any of the naan breads, saag paneer, chicken jalfrezi, lamb vindaloo, veggies jalfrezi--all excellent. It is so refreshing to have a place like this in the neighborhood!!! more

Great little restaurant - Big on Taste & Service!! 11/29/2010

We like Indian food but have been carefull and eaten from buffet. When we walked in to this cozy little restaurant, we were greated by the owner who is a chef. He explained the foods and how to order them. What an experience! He even showed me the tandoori grill and how the naan bread is cooked. The prices are great -- two ate on less than $30 for dinner. We've eaten there twice in two weeks and will be trying more and more food choices. I'm so excited we happened upon Bombay Grill in the Pecan Grove neighborhood!! more

GREAT Indian food and reasonable prices! 9/23/2010

East or West, Bombay Grill is the BEST! I'm East Indian and I live in Pecan Grove. Being Indian, I know a thing or two about good Indian food. I travel all over the US and wherever I go, I always sample the local Indian fare. Prior to Bombay Grill opening in my backyard (literally), my family and I used to frequent Madras Pavilion and Shiva. No longer! Bombay Grill is awesome, we've sampled the Chicken Makhani, the Saag Paneer, Chicken Korma, Spicy Goat, Chicken Tikka as well as the Onion Kulchas and Garlic Naan. We get takeout for dinner at least 1-2x a month from here and have yet to be disappointed. Our average dinner (takeout) from here is about 60 dollars. We have yet to try the lunch buffet. If you are near Richmond/Rosenberg and want to try something different, go here, I promise you won't be disappointed! more

Finally great food near Pecan Grove! 8/21/2010

Bombay Grill serves excellent Indian food. Out this way we have little choice in cuisine--a few hamburger places that serve mediocre food at best and Mexican. Everything we have ordered there has been wonderful--the kids (3 & 5) LOVE it! The best part is they do carry-out as well as dine in and we don't have to drive to Sugar Land to get some tasty dinner! more

Not the greatest 7/24/2010

We decided to try the lunch buffet last week. It was 1:00pm and we were the only customers there. There was no naan and no chicken. We had to ask for it as the labels were there but empty. Food was just OK, nothing spectacular and very limited selection. Staff seemed pleasant but owner sat in the store front conducting business rather loudly on the phone, scheduling parties, etc. We felt like they couldn't wait for us to leave, Actual VALUE of the lunch buffet is around $4.99 although they charge $10. We should have gone to 9ers instead. Pros: Only one in Richmond Cons: Little variety, quality of food marginal more

Really good food for out-of-the-way location 7/22/2010

What a great find for such a small town! Formerly ""Red's Grill,"" Bombay Grill is a delightful change from the mostly-Mexican cuisine that is in Richmond. The food is great and the owners are very accommodating. They often bring us ""extra spicy"" sauce so those of us in our party can heat up their entrees the way we like them. Their prices are in line with other Indian Restaurants in the area. It's one of our favorite places and is convenient for us, as it's just down the street and we don't have to drive all the way to Sugar Land or Houston to get good Indian food. :-) Pros: Fabulous Owners Cons: Location more

Red's is now a GREAT Indian Restaurant - Bombay Grill 6/7/2010

If you like tasty and spicy food, and you are bored with the same old things, you are in luck. We dined there Saturday night, 6/5/2010. Although this was Red's grill, was sold and converted to authentic Indian food, and the food is terrific. It is in a strip center next to Fantastic Sam's immediately south of the Sonic and Randall's on F.M. 359 north of Highway 90A. Near the Pecan Grove Country Club. They have just finished redecorating and refurnishing the entire place, which is extremely clean. The place is smallish and cozy, and very comfortable. The owner is the chef and the service in this family owned find is very attentive. Although I am totally Anglo and from the Midwest (where food is famously boring), since coming to Houston in the mid 70's I have eaten in dozens of Indian Restaurants all over this city, the country, and even in London. My favorite was always the Bombay Palace on Westheimer. It was the best, literally in the world. Since it moved a couple of times and I moved away I have missed great Indian food. This just fixed that problem and those memories are rushing back to me. If you care, the food is much healthier than most Indian food. It has much less cream and oil than usual. Much MUCH less. But the incredible taste, which is spiced to your comfort level (we had ours medium hot), actually benefits from this approach. And every dish I tried made me repeat out-loud how great it was. The quality of the food was incredible. We had Tandoori Chicken (an older fellow I knew once described it as ""The best barbecued chicken I've ever had."") which is skinless chicken on the bone, roasted in a real tandoori oven that they just had installed. It was moist though perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. They also serve the dinner with Basmati Rice and we ordered a bread called Onion Kulcha, which is a fluffy flat bread with onions that is perfect with the various sauces, and it was the best I have ever had anywhere. We also had our usual favorites: Chicken Tika Masala (which is boneless cubes of chicken in an incredible orange/red sauce. The chicken was extremely high quality, large and well trimmed, and it was terrific. And for vegetables, we had our two other usual dishes, sag paneer ( spicy spinach in a sauce with a low fat cheese pieces) and mater paneer (peas and low fat cheese pieces in a lighter curry sauce). If you are new to Indian food, the ""curry"" that you might have tasted and hated once, is not what we are talking about. There are many different kinds of curry, and the differences are pretty stark. These will knock your socks off, and will be unlike anything you have ever tasted. When I first ate Indian food in the 70's, I didn't know what to think, as it was so different, but I was soon craving it. Think of it like that day when you decided that blue cheese was suddenly the best thing you ever tasted. However, I've never gotten over it. The good news is that this place is less expensive than almost all of it's competition. The place is small, so if this review makes it so crowded that I can't get in, I'm going to be mad. But I sure want them to succeed, because this area needs a stand out Indian Restaurant, and now we have one. Pros: Some of the best Indian Food in the entire region Cons: No liquor license as of yet. more
