The seafood at this place is to die for! We has scallops , shrimp, as well as a seafood platter. All the seafood was amazingly fresh and was prepared well. For example, the scallops were sweet and tender. The oyster stew was the best we have ever had! The sauces were excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone, but particularly to those like myself who have grown up at the sea shore and know what great seafood is! more

Really great local place. Sat on the deck. Food was excellent. The sausage was to die for. Great selection of appirizers. Varied menu. One of the best places we ate during our week in charleston. more

I honestly can say it was one of the best meals we had during our week in Charleston. Good, fresh seafood. Interesting side dishes, and pleasant service. Nice setting on Shem Creek. Wish we had gone earlier in the week, so that we could have enjoyed it more than once. more

Everything was cooked the way we ordered it. Our waitress was new & didn't forget to keep reminding us of that, but she did a fine job for our group of 6. We were in & out in a reasonable amount of time. more

Our waitress was new but she went out of her way to make the evening enjoyable even bringing me a piece of key lime pie for my birthday! The setting was ideal at sunset, very pretty. When we go back to Charleston we will DEFINITELY go back! more

If you are looking for a relaxing restraunt with great fresh food this is the place you'll have to eat at! The oysters and crab legs were so fresh. Also the shrimp creo was the best! more

Best on the Creek 7/5/2011

Best on the Creek: I love Shem Creek Bar & Grill. I worked next door for 3 years and frequently got lunch there. Best chopped salad around. Love the atmosphere, you can actually drive the boat up, dock and have lunch or dinner. Great place all around. more

great seat with a perfect view 6/30/2011

My wife and I dinned here while on our anniversary trip to the Charleston area. We requested dining with a view and got a great seat with a perfect view of the sunset right over Shem Creek. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had the stuffed flounder which was full of LOTS of crab stuffing, scallops, and LARGE shrimp. I actually got full to the point I had no room for dessert. This was our first night in the area and this meal was a great start to a great trip. more

I love this place. The food is fantastic. The view of the creek and marsh is a very relaxing scene. I highly recommend their grilled prime rib entree. Delicious! It's the only thing my wife has ordered when we've been there. Prices are moderate and the service has been excellent in my experiences. You won't be disappointed. more

This is a great place for dinner! Awesome food (great seafood dishes), but my ultimate fave: the Seafood ala Wando!! It's amaaazing! The scallops, the shrimp, the fish, those cheesy grits!! My mouth is watering, and I'm so wishing to be back in South Carolina for this dish right now! ORDER THIS DISH! The oyster variety they have is also pretty scrumptious! The servers are really friendly, and overall, it's just a very comfortable setting! I recommend! :) more

Enjoyed the atmosphere. 6/10/2011

While visiting Charleston, we drove over to Mt. Pleasant. Stopped at Shem Creek Bar & Grill. I tried She Crab Soup twice while I was in S.C. and theirs was the best of the two. (Other place was Hanks and while theirs was fine I liked Shem Creek's better). We were in late in the afternoon and had a drink and didn't want dinner yet so just had the soup. Nice place to sit and look out the window - good waitress. Enjoyed the atmosphere. more

Food is awesome most of the time. They seem to do well with certain items. The Seafood Wando is great, but the surf and turf could be better. The creme brulee has been great most times but was not good the last time. more

I have been to Shem Creek B&G three times now each June when we come to Charleston and stay in Mount Pleasant. We make a point to come each year because of the great atmosphere and great seafood. It is common to have to wait for a table in a popular restaurant but you have the great option of watching the dolphins outside and all the boats come to dock. We enjoyed a drink while waiting and were seated each time within 30 minutes with our party of 12. The She Crab Soup was great and the sauces for the seafood were also above average. I predict our group returning again next June. more

Very good ambiance 5/19/2011

One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston right on Shem Creek. They used to have tree house pods you could sit in and dine. It was private and a lot of fun. They had to tear them down, due to building codes. It's still a great place to go and they have a bar on the pier with a band... Very good ambiance and I would recommend Shem Creek's to everyone! more

I would definitely recommend this restaurant, 5/17/2011

The previous reviews made me cautious of visiting this restaurant. However, I'd always wanted to try it, and since it was very near to our hotel and we were not in need of reservations since we were dining early, we took the plunge. I couldn't have been happier. We were seated immediately outside at our request, overlooking the marsh. The service could not have been more friendly or attentive. I had the crab cakes, which were the best I had eaten anywhere, and my friend had the chicken teriyaki, which I tasted and found to be tender and absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and will go back again when the opportunity arises. more

We received great service. 5/13/2011

This was a great seafood restaurant . The scallops melted in my mouth ...they were so tender and yummy. The vegetables were fresh steamed (fresh green beans, squash, zuchini, carrots), and the mashed potatoes were delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Shem Creek. The atmosphere was very nautical and beachy. We received great service. more

We took the whole family, from age 4 to 67. Everyone enjoyed it. We vacation every summer with our family on Folly and love finding new spots to take everyone. We will visit again. more
