Cool atmosphere. Food was lacking. I would go to any other place around. I have lived in the city for 5 years and I know of multiple places w/ better food for better prices...\r ...

Best Burger in San Antonio...HANDS DOWN! 12/5/2009

My husband and I have been to Bobby J's twice. The first time was on veterans day. I remember b/c we were initially going to Applebee's b/c of the free veterans day meal but instead drove past b/c the line was so long. I'm so glad we drove by that day b/c we found Bobby J's right down the road in Helotes. The lady at the register was super sweet and she gave us a 10% discount when we told her that we were originally going to Applebees b/c of veterans day. The burgers were so good! I hate thick fat burgers and these burgers were huge but not thick. The buns were perfectly grilled on both sides (nice touch) and all the fixins were perfect. I say it's probably one of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere. My husband is torn between Bobby's and Chunky's. I have never been to Chunky's but I think for me it will be really hard for anyway to top Bobby J's. You will not be disappointed unless you're one of those negative Nelly's that will never be satisified. I was just there again a couple days ago and I can't wait to go back. Use to be a great place to eat. 4/1/2009

New manager is extremely rude, she messed up my order and would not replace it, even though I had not even taken a single bite, I guess it was more cost effective for her for me to return my entire order ($30) then to replace a single $6 burger. Great burgers, but very overpriced! 11/1/2008

I'm a burger junkie and I live about 2 miles from Bobbby J's, so I go there often. I always get the 1/2 lb. jalapeno burger, its hot, messy, tons of jalapenos, just fantastic. The problem is I spend nearly $10 for that burger...no fries, and I get a cup of water. I could go across the street to Whataburger, nearly as good for $5...I'm not too crazy about the fries here, and I have not tried anything other than the burgers. Also, there are so many extra charges for any little thing you want on your burger, I'm surprised they don't charge for mustard. There is even a sign on the soda machne saying that refills are extra... Pros: Great burger...very similar to Chris Madrid's, but better, in my opinion. Cons: Cost...almost $10 for a burger with no cheese, no fries, no drink), extra charges for everything, even refills. more

Great burgers and great service 7/11/2008

Bobby J's has great food and great service. The employees are always friendly and greet you as you walk in and thank you as you leave. The burgers are always good and fresh and are reasonably priced. The restaurant has a very good atmosphere and is definately worth trying...and going back. Pros: Great burgers, freindly employees, and good atmosphere more

Best Burger in the Universe 5/11/2007

Jalepeno cheddar burger the best there is...don't get the 1/2lb unless you are REALLY hungry. Great hot greasy fries...burger is messy (as it should be). Bobby does not scrimp on the peppers either! I've eaten at Bobby's 25-30 times and only once have not seen him behind the counter. Cold Shiner Bock(s), burger and fries - HEAVEN. Can get crowded Friday and Saturday nights but I go early. Biggest downer - closed on Sunday.... Pros: Everything fresh and good service - owner usualy there - better like CW music Cons: Can be crowded - bathrooms tiny - live with it - better like CW music more

VERY GOOD OVERALL EXPERIENCE!!! 8/29/2006

I'm in the process of moving to Bandera, TX from PA and had to stop in at Bobby J's after driving by so many times. I'm glad i did as from the second i stepped in the door until i walked back out, it was a great experience. From the friendly service to the delicious burger and fries. And Bobby even took a few minutes of his time to talk about how he got started and fill me in on some TX history. Great burger, nice price, homey atmosphere, and friendly service with a smile? That's Bobby J's. more

After seeing billboards of Bobby J holding up his monster burger for some time, we decided one day to check out the place. And that's a decision we have never regretted. First, as soon as we walked in, there was Bobby J behind the counter taking orders. He had run out of lolly pops to give to the kids, so he told mine youngins to choose an ice cream out of the freezer. After browsing the huge selection on the menu, we ordered some burgers and fries and they were ready pretty quick -- cooked the way we wanted them and very juicy. Everyone ate their fill; there were no leftovers, even from the picky eaters. The burgers were so good, my kids refuse to eat at the ""M"" place anymore. We discovered Bobby Js about 3 years ago when living in SATX, and I'm telling you - I would buy a plane ticket back to SA just for one of these burgers. Big (1/3 & 1/2 lb are available) juicy & cooked the way you want it - even if you want it still moo-ing - with whatever you want on it. Don't overlook the fries, onion rings or fried pickles - they're awesome! Good selection of bottled beer. Service is quick & friendly, with a relaxed, casual & family-friendly atmosphere. Everything is ""Big"" at Bobby J's 12/22/2005

The old saying that everything is big in Texas, sure is true at Bobby J's. The burgers are big, the service is great, and the setting is nothing but Teaxs. While I would recommend everything on the menu, the #1 burger (1/3 lb) is my favorite. It's well worth the trip from any location in Bexar county. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

Want a great burger at a good price? 7/21/2005

This place is a little off the beaten path for most of San Antonio. It is however, well worth adding to your list of ""special places"" to go. Starting with it's friendly texas atmosphere, and outdoor patio seating, and slamming it home with thier great food. This is definitely one of the great places in SA to get a burger and every once in a while a great burger is just the thing you need. Pros: Friendly, Great food, Quaint setting Cons: Outside SA more

Great Burgers and more 5/8/2004

The first time I went to Bobby J's I notifced the sign out front with a picture of what I assumed was Bobby J. Well, we walk in and go to the counter to order and there he was...Bobby J. And he really looked like the picture outside!!! I ordered a burger upon my husbands recommendation. It was great! Juicy, the bun was toasted and held together, unlike some other burger joints and the cheese was perfect. The chopped up tomatoes and even the mayo was good. This is real food, done right!! The burgers are amazing and the joint is all about Texas. Messy, big and fattening - this place is a must visit. Just North of the 1604 on Bandera!! Pros: Great Food, Flavorful, Quaint Cons: Can be crowded, Fries aren't the best more

I have had many many burgers and there were the best i have ever tasted! The prices were resonable and what's more comforting than having the owner serve you himself.
