I have lived with them for almost a year now. I have a BEAUTIFUL apartment, they fix things on time, and the staff is very helpful. They are always kind and courteous, and one of the best perks is that they offer you a free pizza if you pay your rent early. more

I found the quality of the housing to be very poor. Ok for students or people without much preference. My advice would be to shop around. You will find a better deal. more

Application was an easy, quick process and on our move in day everything was clean, working and ready for us at the time they said. I have moved 4 times the last 5 years in cities and states up and down the East Coast. I've had my fair share of landlords and apartments. I was not looking forward to moving again. After trying to avoid using a larger agency I finally caved and went to Bob Schmitz's office. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. The leasing agent was prepared for me and accomodating. I took up most of her afternoon by making her drive me all over Durham. She even came to meet me at an apartment AFTER her office hours. Upon hearing that the dates of my future apartment did not comply with the departure from my old apartment, the leasing agent allowed me to forward my mail to the office where they would hold it. Since moving into my place I have had to call the office twice for minor problems. On BOTH occasions, I got home from work to find the problem dealth with and a note from Maintenance informing me that they have been there. I am very pleased with the customer service, the maintenance and of course by lovely apartment. more

I would never rent from anyone else! I moved from California 3 years ago and had no clue about Durham. Bob Schmitz Properties was so welcoming and accomodating. They really took my needs into consideration and bent over backwards finding me a place to call home. And I mean not just a box--but a HOME! My first place with this company was GORGEOUS with refinished hardwoods and tons of architectural detail. Not only that--but amenities that you would not expect tofind in a 1 BR duplex like my own washer and dryer. They even built a new deck on the back and put up a privacy fence! The office is a nice place to go and who needs more than same day service for maintenance? When I outgrew this place, they helped me find the perfect house! Even nicer than the duplex! Just transferred my lease, all of my deposit, my pet fees--all I had to do was move! I cannot imagine a nicer landlord. Only reason I will ever leave the house I currently live in is when I buy my own home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I have rented two apartments from Bob Schmitz Properties. They were both nice, clean, older apartments that had been remodeled. The apartments were nice but the best thing was that when I called for a maintainence problem they sent someone out right away. They were completely nice about it. Another thing I liked was that they often would give out pizza coupons if you brought your rent in before the first. Never heard of anyone doing that. If you don't like living in older places this is not the company for you but if you do I would recommend it highly. Again the best thing was the maintainance. The office people were nice also. Pros: Great maintainance service, roomy apartment Cons: Older apartments- things break sometimes more
