FINALLY, A GOOD SALON 1/31/2011

I've tried many different salons, but none of them have made my hair look amazing while also offering great service. I have gone to Anna for a color and cut as well as extensions, and so far she's never let me down. She is patient while she is working on your hair. Let's face it, some of the people out there just rush and ruin your hair. That happened to me before but ever since Anna did my hair, I never have that problem. I highly suggest having Anna work on your hair. =) more

Wedding Perfection 10/19/2010

I couldn't have picked a better team of hair stylists for our wedding. Katrina and her crew perfected each of our vintage hair styles. She created the perfected curls for my 40s look....On the first trial session, she took the time to figure out which curling method would be best for my hair. On the second trial, she used those curls and created the sample do. There were no issues on the actual wedding day....my hair looked perfect. The other bridesmaids and both mothers looked fantastic as well. Her styles are classy and age-appropriate. Blue Velvet is in a league of their own. Thanks again for everything gals! more

I found my stylist for life!!! 8/12/2010

I have always been a bit obsessed with my hair and I am extremely picky with choosing a stylist. Last year I stumbled upon Anna from some great reviews on this site, and she did NOT disappoint me! She gave me the most bright, blonde, and uniform highlights I have ever gotten, not to mention a great cut and amazing blow-out. I moved 3,000 miles away after going to her twice, but when I moved back I knew that I already had a perfect stylist waiting to do my hair again! Having returned to her just a week ago, I got exactly what I expected.... beautiful, blonde, soft hair that I just had to share with everyone! Thank you Anna! more

AWESOME!!! 6/20/2010

Katrina did my hair cut and color and she is wonderful. Chelsea did the Brazilian Blowout which came out great -- I can style my hair everyday in less than half the time now, with much more ease. Prices are so reasonable, there is no drama or attitude inside this salon, and the technique of the stylists I have had working on my hair here are excellent. Love my hair! 5/9/2010

Have had my hair cut and colored twice by Katrina and loved it both times. The highlights look natural and last a long time. The haircut holds up well too and I am able to style it on my own and it always turns out looking nice despite the fact I am not one to spend a long time blowdrying/curling/flatironing etc. Despite the fact it is quite a ways from where I live I will keep going back. more

Best Salon in Studio City 5/7/2010

Blue Velvet Salon is the best place to go for a great hair cut or color in Studio city. I have been going here for almost 2 years and I would never leave, until they do. lol. I go to see Heather Hooven, who is amazing, fun and very talented. She has become a good friend and understands a customers needs. She makes every trip very enjoyable and makes my hair a gorgeous blonde every time! The other employees are very friendly, personable and make you feel at home in the retro, artsy salon. The prices are the some of the best in the valley and they always make sure to help you out. Not to mention the great complimentary coffee, tea or other beverages that will make the hair appt even more enjoyable. Great salon for color and cut! 5/7/2010

Katrina is the owner of the shop and I've been going to her for years for haircuts. Recently, I've been getting highlights, too, which I love. She's extremely consistent, is knowledgeable and has her own opinions, but also listens to what you want. So many of her clients have come from friends telling friends which speaks to how well-liked and respected she is. You would never steer your girlfriends wrong when it comes to their hair!! I also like that you get the full salon experience, but it doesn't have a stuffy, snobby feeling like some salons. And I have friends that have tried several different stylists there when Katrina wasn't available and they have all been good. If you're in the Valley, it's a very convenient location and there's plenty of street parking as well as a few spots in the back. I highly recommend Blue Velvet! Heather Defines Style! 5/6/2010

I am in love with my hair stylist! Heather does an amazing job with my color. I get my hair highlighted and occasionally add low lights. She makes my highlights look natural and the color is amazing. She gives my hair such a warm color. I don't know how she does it. I have always been happy with the way she cuts my hair. She knows the perfect way to layer my hair to compliment my face. I trust her completely to try out a new style that she recommends. She is very stylish and always up on what's new. So happy to of found her! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

I have been going to Blue Velvet since they first opened and to Anna when she was just an apprentice. I receive so many compliments on my hair color and style. I love going to her because she is always a pro and has a smile. She will give me her professional advice and sway me from making drastic changes that, having known me for years, will only upset me later. : )) Anna also put in my hair extensions which were very reasonably priced given the amount of time it took and how GREAT they looked! : )) Pros: Professional. This place is amazing! I get my hair done by Chelsea and i tell her what i need/want with my hair and she does exactly what i pictured! I get alot of compliments on my hair from friends/family! Besides Chelsea's excellent services, the rest of Blue Velvet staff are awesome! Very nice and friendly to other hair dressers clients, and help out if needed. I feel very comfortable at Blue Velvet and its also nice to have a cafe next door. I get food and a beverage before i go in. Very convenient! I definitly recommend going to Blue Velvet! This was far by the best salon I have ever been to. They have the best customer service and I always feel welcome when I go there. All of the hairstylists are pretty cool, but the only one I really trust is ANNA....I LOVE HERR!! <333 I have always been satisfied with my hair after she is done with it.
